As the year comes to a close, we conclude our season with an engaging discussion of an upcoming movie release to start the new year. This episode features two exceptionally gifted guests. Daisy Ridley, an incredible actress with a diverse background spanning blockbuster films, television series, voice acting, and numerous other projects, graces our show. Joining Ridley is the director of We Bury The Dead, Zak Hilditch. A film that delves into profound themes of resilience, survival, and so much more. Its intricate narrative will stay with audiences on a deep level, as it did with me. During the episode, we gain insights into Ridley's journey into the horror genre, behind-the-scenes experiences, and the profound impact the film holds for its creator. We highly recommend watching We Bury The Dead in theaters on January 2nd. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hosts John Ridley and Matt Carey dissect the documentary shortlists for the 98th Academy Awards. There were major snubs (a NatGeo darling and a celebrity-oriented HBO doc) — and surprising inclusions (numerous films without U.S. distribution). Oscar winner Ridley (12 Years a Slave) gets into the documentaries that should have made the cut but didn't. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In 2018, Andrew Davie survived a ruptured brain aneurysm and hemorrhage. Now…he recently graduated with a clinical mental health counseling degree, practices as a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor LGPC, consults for James Mason University about brain injury assessments, and, before her passing, cared for his mother while she had ALS. He learned how to turn a terrible situation into something good with the desire to help others who may be struggling. Andrew Davie has worked in theater, finance, and education. He taught English and creative writing at the middle, high school, and college levels for students with learning difficulties and ADHD. He taught English as a second language in the United States and abroad in Hong Kong. He has written short stories and novellas, co-hosts a music review show, and volunteers.  During the second year of his recovery, when the physical part tapered off and the emotional part began, he decided to publish a book that would somehow transform his life, and it didn't. But...that's not the end of the story.     Even though his ability to experience emotional connections was blunted, the thought of being in a romantic relationship and starting a family suddenly seemed impossible. But he persevered and became a success. His story will encourage and inspire you to succeed at every challenge. Remind yourself that even moving an inch a day is still progressing!   XXXX       Read His Book Series Here From Beyond: In the aftermath of the second opium war in Southeast Asia, Declan Malcolm, the newly elected captain, must navigate the treacherous high seas. Meanwhile, Civil War veterans Ridley and Dranoff are adjusting to post-reconstruction and become mercenaries for hire. Their paths cross by chance, but soon a celebration of good fortune turns into a fight against a supernatural foe. Further Beyond: Phineas O'Hanlon has spent the last few years of his life attempting to discover the cause of the reanimation. While reading over a journal from ancient Rome, O'Hanlon is visited by two law enforcement agents. As secrets are uncovered, can O'Hanlon discover the reason behind the resurrection of the deceased and move on with his life? Remote Beyond: On a small farm, four survivors of an apocalypse fend off the undead. As Tyler and his crew adjust to the new normal, the story covers ancient Rome, Norfolk, England, in the swinging '60s, Egypt in 524 B.C., and one of the original American colonies. But will the answer to the resurrection of the undead ever be discovered?   Connect with Andrew Here INSTAGRAM FACEBOOK X   YouTube

We apologize to listeners for our error in the first release of this episode, and have corrected the error in this release. Please enjoy this interview with Stephen Presley! In the West, the term "God" has become virtually a placeholder, a moniker kept pristinely vacant. Even Christians have been known to treat the scriptures as butterflies to pin, probe and prod, comb and codify, until some "value" can be extracted. For the Church Fathers, things worked differently. They came to scripture armed with convictions about God, which in turn provided the framework and habitat in which they incubated their biblical theology and cultivated a genuinely ecclesial culture. What might it mean to retrieve patristic culture-craft — the formation of communal life that flowed from their inhabiting the Bible — in the midst of contemporary secular society?Join Sam Fornecker for a second conversation with Stephen Presley, Senior Fellow for Religion and Public Life at the Center for Religion, Culture & Democracy and associate professor of church history at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, on his recent book, Biblical Theology in the Life of the Early Church (Baker Academic, 2025), on how the Church can learn from our ancient grandparents the liturgical, sacramental, and storied habit of scriptural engagement necessary to renew the Church in her vocation of "culture-craft" today.Enjoying this podcast? In this episode, we speak with Matthew Ridley, Director of Sustainability and Innovation at the oneworld Alliance, who shares the story behind the groundbreaking $150 million Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) fund launched in partnership with the alliance's member airlines and Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV).Ridley discusses:The alliance investment advantage: How pooling resources across oneworld members creates access to world-class venture capital expertise, superior deal flow, more diverse portfolios, and geographical networks.Breakthrough Energy's unprecedented value: Why partnering with BEV provides access to talent airlines struggle to attract, plus synergies with investments in nuclear fusion, energy transmission, and geologic hydrogen.Next-generation focus vs. current needs: How the oneworld BEV fund targets technologies that can take aviation beyond 5-10% SAF adoption to truly change the trajectory of decarbonisation, complementing existing investments.Breaking the alliance mould: How oneworld moved beyond traditional codeshares and interlining to tackle “initiatives of scale”, and how they attracted Singapore Airlines to join despite not being a oneworld member.Reframing aviation's challenge: Why the problem isn't aviation itself, but rather the emissions from jet fuel, the only aspect of flight that hasn't changed since the Kitty Hawk.Ridley also shares insights from his seven years building IAG's Hangar 51, where he led first-mover investments in ZeroAvia and LanzaJet, and explains why SAF isn't a transition fuel but rather a permanent solution once emissions are addressed. If you LOVED this episode, you'll also love the conversation we had with Pasha Saleh, Head of Corporate Development at Alaska Airlines, who shares how the airline is investing in sustainable aviation technologies to achieve its ambitious climate goals. It's Thursday, October 16th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark British Christian teacher fired for Facebook post about Islamic violence A British Christian teacher, who was unjustly  fired, shared his testimony at a Reform UK party free speech conference last week. Simon Pearson had a 20-year unblemished teaching record. However, Preston College dismissed him last year for allegedly being “Islamaphobic.” He had simply expressed concern on Facebook over violent crime and political bias. Pearson is challenging his dismissal with the help of the Christian Legal Centre.  Listen to his comments at the free speech conference. PEARSON: “Previously, I've worked as a missionary in a communist country where freedom of speech and religion are tightly controlled. I know what it means to live under a regime where truth is suppressed and conscience is punished. “I never imagined I would face similar pressures in the United Kingdom, a country built on the foundations of liberty, of justice and of Christian values. I'm fighting for justice, not just for myself, but for every teacher, for every Christian and every citizen who fears that their voice no longer matters and they are being silenced.” Young people of Northern Ireland more open to Christianity Speaking of the United Kingdom, young people in Northern Ireland are leading a revival of interest in Christianity, according to a poll by The Iona Institute. The survey found 18-24-year-olds in Northern Ireland are more likely to have a very positive attitude toward Christianity than any other age group. These findings are similar to studies of young people in Ireland, Britain, and the United States. Gen Z boys most likely to believe that Jesus is way to Heaven Here in America, the Barna Group released new research from its ongoing State of the Church initiative.  Surveys show that Gen Z is increasingly open to Christian faith. However, among young people, women are the most likely to disengage from church, prayer, and belief.  Meanwhile, young men and especially teenage boys are the least likely to identify as having no faith among young people. They are also the most likely to believe in God and that Jesus Christ is the only way to God. In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Fewer young Americans identifying as “transgender” Here some more good news. Trans identification is declining among young people in America. Eric Kaufmann, a Canadian professor of politics, posted the findings on Tuesday. His analysis is based on multiple data sets, including those from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression. The data shows 3.6% of undergraduates identify as a gender other than male or female. That's down from 5.2% in 2024 and 6.8% in 2022.  The data sets also showed young people are becoming less likely to identify as something other than heterosexual.  Trump posthumously awarded Charlie Kirk Presidential Medal of Freedom President Donald Trump posthumously awarded Charlie Kirk with the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Tuesday. Kirk's widow, Erika, received the nation's highest civilian medal on his behalf on what would have been his 32nd birthday.  The ceremony comes about a month after the Christian activist was fatally shot while speaking at an event for his organization, Turning Point USA.  Listen to comments from President Trump. TRUMP: “Charlie never missed an opportunity to remind us of the Judeo-Christian principles of our nation's founding or to share his deep Christian faith. In his final moments, Charlie testified to the greatness of America and to the glory of our Savior with Whom he now rests in Heaven. Anniversary of martyrdom of two English reformers And finally, today is the anniversary of the martyrdom of two English Reformers. Their names were Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley. Both were bishops in the Church of England. Ridley was born in 1502, becoming a great scholar and renouncing Roman Catholic doctrine. Latimer was born earlier in 1485. He became a great Reformation preacher, also rejecting Catholic traditions. His preaching brought Protestant teachings effectively to the middle and lower classes. However, a Catholic queen came to power in England in 1553. She was known as “Bloody Mary” for her deadly persecution of Protestants. After her ascension to power, Latimer and Ridley were tried for their beliefs and burned at the stake on October 16, 1555. As they faced death together, Latimer told his friend, “Be of good comfort, Master Ridley, and play the man; we shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out.” In Romans 8:36-37, the Apostle Paul wrote, “As it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.' Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, October 16th, in the year of our Lord 2025, the 60th wedding anniversary of my parents, Mike and Harriet McManus, with whom I will celebrate this very weekend.  Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). POSTGAME: TITANS Defeat CARDINALS 22-21....in an INCREDIBLE ComeBack Victory!! GLENDALE, AZ ― Well, how about that: The Tennessee Titans won a football game. They put their 10-game losing streak to bed with a 22-21 comeback versus the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Oct. 5, getting coach Brian Callahan and quarterback Cam Ward their first win as a tandem. The Titans (1-4) trailed by 15 points for most of the game and looked poised to go down three scores in the fourth quarter on a long Arizona run, but a mental mistake turned what should've been six Arizona points into Titans football. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward responded with a scoring drive. Then the Titans defense forced a quick stop. Then the Titans scored a touchdown on a play that started with a Cardinals interception. Suddenly the score was 21-19 with a little under five minutes to play, and the Titans needing a stop to finish the comeback. Arizona drained some clock, but the defense came up with its stop, getting the ball back to the offense with 1:53 left and no timeouts from the Titans' own 18-yard line. After a couple quick completions, Ward found tight end Chig Okonkwo for 16 yards to get the team near midfield and then a 38-yard dagger to receiver Calvin Ridley to get the Titans well into kicker Joey Slye's range. Slye connected on a 29-yard field goal to win the game. Looking for a free mini puzzle? Play the USA TODAY Quick Cross now. What the heck happened there? Ward nearly threw the game away. At the 4:53 mark in the fourth quarter, Ward dropped back on a third-and-2 from the Cardinals' 20-yard line trailing by nine points. An incompletion wouldn't have been the worst thing; the Titans could've easily kicked a field goal from there and made it a one-score game. But Ward forced a pass to Ridley into a tight window and was intercepted by safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, seemingly ending the Titans' threat. Not so fast. Taylor-Demerson went to the ground untouched after the interception and couldn't keep control of the football. Madness ensued. Several Cardinals tripped and kicked the ball backward trying to recover the fumble. Titans receiver Tyler Lockett squeezed ahead and landed on the ball in the end zone. Touchdown, Lockett's first as a Titan. Cam Ward stats: One gutsy quarter Ward was erratic, late on several throws and couldn't find any rhythm on deep shots. He only completed 5 of his 16 attempts in the first half, finishing with just 58 passing yards. Factor in sacks, and the Titans only netted 42 yards through the air before halftime, with the offense stalling across midfield three times. Get the 4th and Monday newsletter in your inbox. Expert guide of the week's NFL action, game results and must-see moments. Delivery: Mon Your Email For a brief moment in the fourth quarter, Ward showed signs of life. With the Titans trailing 21-6, Ward orchestrated a six-play, 80-yard drive headlined by a 47-yard deep crosser to Ridley that got the Titans into the red zone for the first time in eight quarters and a 19-yard rainbow to tight end Gunnar Helm perfectly lofted over Helm's outside shoulder that set up a 1-yard Tony Pollard touchdown. Ward finished the day 21-for-39 with 265 yards and an interception. Ridley caught five passes for 131 yards. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Tennessee #Titans and Arizona #Cardinals meet in Week 5 action in Glendale, Arizona, this Sunday. The two teams have met a total of 12 times, with the Cardinals winning eight of those matchups. The #TITANUP look to change that this week, but it won't be an easy task. The Cardinals are an unpredictable team that keeps games close regardless of whether they win or lose. The Titans have shown flashes of potential, but have been unable to capitalize on much of anything. The matchup between these teams provides some intriguing fantasy football options on both sides of the ball. Let's take a look at some players to start and sit in fantasy football from this Week 5 matchup. Start: TE Trey McBride, Arizona Trey McBride has been Kyler Murray's top target all season. Marvin Harrison Jr. is making a case for himself as well, but McBride leads the Cardinals with 234 receiving yards. The Titans' defense struggles in the middle third, so if Murray targets McBride there, he could end up averaging 13 yards per catch like he did against the Carolina Panthers. Sit: WR Calvin Ridley, Tennessee This was a tough decision. Ridley hasn't played well through the first four weeks of the season. He has 10 receptions on 24 targets for 141 yards, a 41% catch rate, and zero touchdowns. He will be targeted this week against a weak Cardinals' secondary, but trusting him to catch the ball is a risk right now. If you truly need a receiver from this team, grab Elic Ayomanor. He has 12 receptions on 25 targets for 151 yards and a touchdown. His catch rate is still under 50%, but it's higher than Ridley's. Start: QB Kyler Murray, Arizona The Titans' defense struggles mightily against the run and has not been good at getting pressure on the quarterback. That could change this week with Jeffery Simmons set to take advantage of Evan Brown, who has struggled to gain leverage and anchor. This will cause Murray to roll out more often than he would like, which also means he will run with the ball more often than he'd like. With the Cardinals using their third-and fourth-string running backs, Murray becomes the focal point of the run game. Start: RB Tony Pollard, Tennessee If there's anything about the Titans' offense that is good, it's Tony Pollard. Okay, that's not really fair, but Pollard is the most reliable offensive player the Titans have. He is a volume back; he's not going to average five yards per carry like Christian McCaffrey, but he will get plenty of touches. And, he's one of the first players to find the end zone for Tennessee regularly. The Cardinals' run defense is solid, ranking in the top 10, but Pollard is essentially the Titans' entire run game right now. He will get his yards this week. Start: WR Marvin Harrison Jr., Arizona Trey McBride may be the top-targeted player so far, but Harrison is making a case for himself to be Murray's favorite. He's also facing a Titans' secondary that has allowed six passing touchdowns and ranks 22nd versus wide receivers. In his second year, Harrison is finding his footing and learning to fully implement his talents on the field. He will get his targets this week, and he's likely to give L'Jarius Sneed a run for his money when he does catch the ball. Sleeper: RB Emari Demercado, Arizona The starting running back by default, Demercado, is in his third season in the NFL. Trey Benson was placed on injured reserve this week, and James Conner was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury, which is how Demercado ended up the starting running back. He has just four carries in 2025, but as the lead back, he will get 12-15 touches on Sunday. The Titans' run defense is fifth-worst in the NFL, which means that Demercado could have a breakout game. William Ridley, Ph.D. https://ace.illinois.edu/directory/wridleyWilliam Ridley, Ph.D. on Google Scholar: https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=Qjox4QIAAAAJ&hl=enToday's episode is timely and thought provoking in my opinion. The farm economy is struggling again this year, and while there's no one cause for all of that struggle, exports certainly play a role. A major role. I'm very pleased to welcome Dr. Bill Ridley onto the show. Bill is an international economist studying global markets and trade policy at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His research explores pressing market and policy issues relating to international agricultural trade, economic integration, trade disputes, and the implications of globalization for the environment and natural resource use.I wanted to bring Bill on the show to ask about the implications of tariffs and trade disputes for the farm economy, his perspective on the current trade relationship with China, his work on the virtual water trade which is an interesting concept measuring how much domestic water gets used to export food out of the country, and his thoughts on the path forward from here. If you're hoping for a rosey picture of how this all plays out, I'll warn you now - you may be disappointed. But it's certainly an important topic to be thinking deeply about how this impacts your business for all of us in agriculture.
