Don't miss a single haunted adventure! (including the one in a few days on January 25th/26th! Grow with us and join The Parajunkie Fam! www.patreon.com/savannahunderground Welcome back to another spine-tingling episode of the Paranormal Podcast, titled "The Most Haunted City on Earth! This episode delves into the chilling tale of Bathsheba Sherman, a figure shrouded in mystery and horror. Despite the lack of written history or records about her life or the alleged infant's death, the folklore surrounding Bathsheba paints a picture of dark rituals and sinister deeds. We explore the narratives handed down through generations, transforming Bathsheba from a person into a terrifying legend. Witnesses like Mr. Mckeachurn, who knew Bathsheba in his youth, contribute to her nightmarish image, while Carolan's discovery of the unmarked Bell Stone on the Arnold estate adds another layer to this enigmatic story. Lorraine Warren, a renowned paranormal investigator, famously identified Bathsheba as a demonic presence in the Perron family's house, intensifying the legend. The episode also delves into the haunting history of the house itself, a place marked by tragedies including drownings and suicides. Multiple families, including the Arnolds, Richardsons, and Bakers, suffered untimely deaths here, with many of the details lost to time. The Warrens' involvement in the case, spurred by a call from Keith Johnson, reveals their harrowing experiences during their investigations. The most striking event is the seance-turned-exorcism, where Carolyn Perron was said to have been possessed, leading to a terrifying ordeal that nearly ended her life. The episode also features insights from Andrea Perron, who offers a more sympathetic view of Bathsheba and shares her own experiences with the spirits in the house, including the benevolent Abigail Arnold and the mysterious Scottish broken-neck woman. Andrea's reflections on Ed and Lorraine Warren's efforts provide a deeper understanding of the complexities and challenges of paranormal investigation. Tune in for a journey through the layers of myth, history, and personal accounts that make this story a hauntingly unforgettable chapter in paranormal lore. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/john-taylor-timmons/support

As powerful men are toppled one after the other for their sexual predation, why are some women still missing from the dialogue? Women in service industries, who are often subject to severe power imbalances with their customers, have not been centered in the conversation about harassment. And one response to widespread sexual misconduct allegations has been the implication (or veiled threat) that exposing sexual harassment will lead to fewer women being hired. So how will working-class women get attention around abuses in the industries? And what do these allegations mean for all the women who already have to be "twice as good"? We're joined by Vox.com Race and Identities Senior Editor Michelle Garcia, and Nell Bernstein, author of "Burning Down the House: The End of Juvenile Prison." Burning Down the House: The End of Juvenile Prison, by Nell Bernstein, takes an unflinching look at the travesty we call juvenile prison. She has an unequivocal solution - get rid of them. With some 20 years of knowing the system and by telling the stories of the victims of it, Nell explores the history, reform, trends, and consequences of the "reformatories" which do the exact opposite of their supposed purpose.

The American rate of juvenile incarceration is seven times that of Great Britain, and 18 times that of France. It costs, on average, $88,000 a year to keep a young person locked up — far more than the U.S. spends per child, on education. To examine that system requires a two fold understanding.  One of the criminal justice system that sends so many young people into these facilities and secondly the nature of the facilities themselves and the public policy decisions that have allowed them to deteriorate to the point where it’s almost certain that young people sent to these facilities will have a dramatically greater chance of adult incarceration. How bad is the problem, can it be solved with the tools we have, and frankly, in spite of what we say, do we even care enough to do anything about it?Nell Bernstein has spent years up close and personal in the system.  The story she tells in her new book, Burning Down the House: The End of Juvenile Prison, should make us all ashamed. My conversation with Nell Bernstein:
