Slack, a Vancouver foster parent to approximately 55 children between 2013 and 2025, was arrested after detectives from the Vancouver Police Department Children's Justice Center executed a search warrant on May 1. Last Friday, a former staffer for California gubernatorial candidate Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) accused the Congressman of making unwanted advances, sexual assault, and rape. Three other women also came forward to accuse Swalwell of sexual misconduct, describing a pattern of sending explicit messages through Snapchat. Swalwell denies the allegations, but apologized for “mistakes in judgment” and dropped out of the gubernatorial race after losing prominent endorsements. Rep. Eric Swalwell drops out of the race for California governor and Rich says he needs to resign from U.S. Congress after sexual misconduct.

Hawk, a retired 28-year trial attorney, walks through the CNN article and the New York Times report revealing that the Manhattan District Attorney has opened a criminal investigation into Swalwell, calling on additional victims to come forward. The pattern of conduct alleged, targeting young women who worked for him, volunteered for him, or simply admired him politically, points to a serial abuse of power. Swalwell has denied all allegations, called them false, and has had his attorneys send cease and desist letters threatening defamation suits against two of his accusers. Hawk addresses the legal standard for defamation and why those letters may say more about intimidation than innocence. Also addressed: the troubling response from a vocal segment of liberal women on social media who are publicly refusing to believe the accusers, drawing a direct parallel to the defense of Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal. With corroborating evidence, witness testimony, and a Manhattan DA investigation now underway, Hawk argues Swalwell must drop out of the governor's race and resign his House seat. The Teaching Council's Disciplinary Tribunal has found April Nordstrom had a sexual relationship with a student at Whangarei Girls' High School and behaved inappropriately towards three other students at Horowhenua College in Levin. The years the students attended the schools have not been disclosed by the tribunal to protect their identities. Reporter Finn Blackwell spoke to Lisa Owen.

In the last decade, more than 150 teachers in Washington were disciplined for sexual misconduct. But new reporting from Investigate West found that many of these cases weren’t easily accessible to the public. The reason the information is hidden? When a teacher voluntarily surrenders their license, their information in the state’s misconduct database is shielded from public view. Nearly 45% of teachers on this database volunteered to surrender their license.
