Gears and Beers: The Unashamedly Unprofessional Automotive Podcast
It's a slow news week this week, but we still find a bit of stuff to talk about. This week we start off with some absolute bollocks before kicking off officially. Joseph kicks off the news this week with pricing for the HSV Camaro that has just been released and continues on to talk about Queensland Police cracking down on modified 4x4's, and Matt talks about what the current standards are for lifting a 4x4 in Qld. Mitch then talks about Lexus being the first to market with a camera side mirror system with the ES. This then gets us talking about how long 'modern' cars are designed to work, and their future parts availability. Then Mitch asks the boys how it was that they got interested in cars, which we got into talking about racing video games. It's then a return of Joel's Motorcycle Minute, which turns into a few more minutes than that. Then Mitch talks about the 2019 Subaru BRZ update. We then offer some consumer advice.
Mike Costello and Kez Casey join Mandy Turner this week. In car news, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE has been revealed, the 2019 HSV Camaro pricing and specs have been announced, and the Bugatti W16 engine will 'the last of its kind'. Also, Takata alpha inflator affected cars in South Australia won't be registerable from November 1. Jez Spinks talks about driving the 2018 Range Rover Sport SDV6 SE. We speak to Geoff Fear, Hyundais official N tech from N Performance Australia, about how the i30 N got its exhaust sound and answers a listeners question on manufactured exhaust notes. Mandy chats to David Dowsey, Head of Marketing at VACC, for its centenary celebrations in an event that is believed to be the first in the world. With thanks to Isuzu UTE, we have two doubles passes to give away to the 2018 Deni Ute Muster, and for your chance for us to record the podcast in your mancave, email photos to podcast@caradvice.com.
In this episode:- Musk Watch this week is that Elon wants to built a pickup truck like the Ford F150. Which is great, but perhaps he should focus on the cars he's supposed to be building already.- Speaking of cars coming in the future, we've got our picks of what's coming in 2018 that we're looking forward to the most. There's the Alpine A110, HSV Camaro, Ranger Raptor and Hyundai i30 N amongst a crowded field.- UK publication Autocar has taken a look inside Porsche's secret warehouse in Stuttgart and there's some genuinely brilliant, and genuinely horrifying, stuff in there.- What's been lurking in our garage over the Christmas period? The good, the bad and the spine adjusting.- James isn't on the show this week. He's....busy.Richard Berry, Matt Campbell and Peter Anderson tear down, pressure test and rebuild the issues of the automotive week. You can get in touch with us on Facebook, Twitter (#CGPodcast) and Instagram, or give us your considered opinions on fonts by emailing comments@carsguide.com.au.
