Vamos a verlo.

Dan Prosser and Andrew Frankel discuss perhaps their least favourite Porsche 911 variant, the Turbo. Now in its half-centenary year, the 911 Turbo has long been one of the fastest cars on the road. But among 911s, argue Dan and Andrew, it's also tended to be one of the least engaging to drive. OUR NEW WEBSITE IS WORSE THAN YOU HOPED: www.itsnotthecar.com/ Once, long ago, a German engineer looked at a VW Beetle and thought, “Ahh, my little streitzel, we should tango with the hot-rod physics of love!” The Porsche 911 is divisive. People love 'em. People hate 'em. People fire 'em backward into ditches and Armco and spit excuses for how it wasn't their fault—widowmaker car, Wreck-cellence Was Expected, blah blah blah. (“Too much understeer! Too much oversteer! Chappell Roan! ANYTHING BUT ME!”) Is it the [fault of the] car? It is not!  This show's format rotates weekly, because squirrel. This ep's format is called “How to Drive It.” Please do not hit play while you are in the middle of crashing a Porsche and expect it to help. Related Trivia: Ross and Jeff have raced 911s professionally. Sam has tested countless 911 variants for places like Road & Track and 000—from 2.0-liter Daytona winners to a 934, a 935, and most of the road models since 1964. Also, “streitzel” is both a Hans Stuck nickname and a kind of German pastry, and if those facts bring you joy, you are indeed nerdy enough for this show.

He also talks about his role as the director of content creation for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis, where he oversees a team of content creators. The hosts and Peter discuss their shared interests and the importance of storytelling in both the sneaker and automotive industries. Peter Chaney started his career in the automotive industry by working at a dealership and helping with various tasks. He eventually landed a job as a product specialist for Hyundai, where he became involved in the creative process and started doing photography and video work. With his expertise in cars and production, he helped start the content creator role at Hyundai and now leads a team of seven content creators. Hyundai has been focusing on electrification and has made significant strides in the past decade. However, the lack of charging infrastructure and limited access to charging stations are still barriers to widespread adoption of electric vehicles. In this conversation, Peter Chaney discusses the shift towards electrification in the automotive industry and the challenges and opportunities it presents. He mentions that companies like Honda and Toyota are not fully embracing electric cars and are instead focusing on plug-in hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. He also talks about the importance of making electric cars exciting for enthusiasts and the role of sound and other features in creating a unique driving experience. The conversation also touches on the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and its innovative features, such as virtual gears and simulated engine sounds. Peter offers advice for aspiring car photographers and emphasizes the importance of starting with what you love and experimenting with different techniques. The conversation concludes with a discussion about sim racing and the growing popularity of virtual racing experiences. All of the links you need: https://www.carsxkicks.com

Porsche took inspiration from its history of off-road racing 911s and put that into a limited-edition, road-going package dubbed Dakar. This model transforms the 911 Carrera and turns it into a high-riding machine. Equipped with no back seat, and fixed-back buckets in front, this 911 isn't making light of its racing focus, even if none ever see a rally stage in anger. The 911 Dakar also sports bespoke front and rear fascias, that help better protect the machine from the trials and tribulations of off-roading. Porsche also lifted the 911 Dakar and included an adjustable ride-height suspension to crank it up a little more. Behind the driver is still a flat-six that sends 473 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed PDK transmission. From there, power travels through the standard all-wheel-drive system to get to the off-road rubber. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of the 2023 Porsche 911 Dakar and puts it through its paces. Wren takes you on a guided tour of the 911 Dakar and highlights some of the changes and his favorite features. Later, Wren takes you along on a live drive review of this limited-edition Porsche. Adding to these segments, Wren chats with Autoweek's Patrick Carone about the 911 Dakar, the proliferation of off-roading sports cars in the marketplace, and more. Closing the show, the pair break down what makes this 911 special.
