Paleontologist and author Armin Schmitt returns to the show where we explore two remarkable dinosaur discoveries that are reshaping what we know about life millions of years ago. From the longest dinosaur trackway ever uncovered in Oxfordshire, England, to the first-ever discovery of fossilised gut contents inside a sauropod in Australia, Armin shares the science — and the stories — behind these once-in-a-lifetime finds. We hear how ancient footprints reveal the daily lives of long-necked giants, what a 100-million-year-old meal can teach us about dinosaur diets, and how new technologies are helping paleontologists read the Earth's oldest stories written in stone.Armin takes us on a journey through deep time — from Jurassic lagoons to Cretaceous forests — filled with curiosity, wonder, and the enduring human desire to understand the world beneath our feet.

This week on the Toy Power Podcast; we are still sending 'Get Well' Cards to Trent, as he unfortunately misses this ep. But that won't slow us down; as Scot has a fantastic rundown on the Greatest Star Wars Movie - that never was! Yes - the infamous 'Shadows Of The Empire!' Famously worked into 'cannon' between the Original Films of: Empire Strikes Back & Return Of The Jedi. This wasn't just a Story or a Comicbook series - this was a Multimedia Project that also spanned into a Soundtrack, Video Games and of course a self-titled line of Toys! Was, or is this, the biggest Movie that never was?! Then keeping in the same similar theme of Movies; we transform into another round of The Team! With this round focusing on the Autobots that where released in 1986 (The Movie Year). This was a lot of fun! But we would love to hear some future ideas for The Team Comp - as we are starting to run out of ideas!

In today's Daily Fix:A Simpsons-themed mini-season event could be coming to Fortnite, with rumors fueled by the appearance of a Simpsons cosmetic in the game. Kang and Kodos, the two tentacled aliens that pop up in The Simpsons' Treehouse of Terror episodes, have been spotted on a Fortnite glider. Currently, Fortnite is doing their annual Halloween event, but with the game already partnered with other Disney-owned properties like Family Guy and Star Wars, a Simpsons collab makes sense. In other news, HBO Max has dropped the first trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. It's an adaptation of the novella series set in the Game of Thrones universe but before the events of the main series. It features a hedge knight named Ser Duncal the Tall and his squire, a little boy named Egg. If you know your Thrones lore, you know that the two go on to become legends in the "present-day" Thrones stories. His research focuses on early mammals, particularly teeth, jaws, and skull parts. The site has yielded small animal fossils, including some potentially significant early mammals that correlate with a nearby site in Fruita, CO. We discuss the complexities of fossil excavation, preservation, and the analysis process as well as the importance of student education.

HEADLINE: Jurassic Sponge Reefs, Floating Wood, and the Triassic Glider Sharovipteryx BOOK TITLE: Other Lands, a journey through Earth's Extinct Worlds GUEST AUTHOR NAME: Thomas Halliday 200-WORD SUMMARY: This excerpt details events in the Jurassic and Triassic periods. The Jurassic (155 million years ago) was a time of recovery for marine reptiles like ichthyosaurs and plesiosaurs, following the Triassic-Jurassic extinction, likely caused by runaway climate change. Europe was a tropical archipelago at this time. The largest biological structure ever known was a 7,000 km long reef composed of glass sponges (silicon sponges) in the fringes of the Tethys Ocean. This reef provided a diverse ecosystem, supporting ammonites, fish, and marine reptiles. Unusually, wood floated for much longer than it does today because wood-boring shipworms had not yet evolved. Evidence shows fallen logs floating across oceans and adorned with filter-feeding organisms like sea lilies. Moving to the Triassic (225 million years ago), the focus is Madigan in Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia. This lake ecosystem provides a rare, well-preserved record of a terrestrial environment, notable for its extraordinary insect diversity, including most known Triassic families of beetles. A unique vertebrate found here is Sharovipteryx, a lizard-like gliding reptile that used a triangular membrane stretched between its exceptionally long hind legs to glide.

STORY 2: Atlanta Gas Light Foundation and Goodr host free pop-up grocery market in Gwinnett On Sept. 12, the Atlanta Gas Light Foundation and Goodr teamed up to host a free Pop-Up Grocery Market at Shorty Howell Park in Duluth, and it was a lifeline for nearly 200 families. Volunteers handed out over 5,200 pounds of food—meat, fresh produce, dairy, bread, snacks, you name it. Enough to stock pantries for a week. But here’s the thing: food insecurity is still a massive issue in Georgia. In Gwinnett County alone, 12.2% of residents struggle to put food on the table. Goodr’s pop-up model? It’s fast, efficient, and, most importantly, respectful. Since 2021, Atlanta Gas Light has donated $400,000 to support Goodr’s mission to fight hunger and food waste. STORY 3: Heart extends Royal Flush tour — coming to Gwinnett's Gas South Arena in February Heart’s still got it—Ann and Nancy Wilson aren’t slowing down anytime soon. Their “Royal Flush” tour? Yeah, it’s rolling right into 2026. They just dropped the news: first stop of the new leg? Gwinnett’s Gas South Arena, February 15. Mark your calendar. Thirteen dates, all over the South and Midwest. Some big arena shows, sure, but also these intimate “An Evening with Heart” gigs. Sounds like magic, doesn’t it? The whole thing wraps up March 15 in Fishers, Indiana. Oh, and Lucinda Williams? She’s tagging along for most of it. That’s a double bill you don’t wanna miss. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We’ll be right back Break 2: Ingles Markets 2 STRIPERS INTERVIEW Break 3: STORY 6: Georgia lawmakers, keen on abolishing income tax, hear from other states without one Georgia Republicans are doubling down on their push to eliminate the state income tax, but they’re drawing a line: no new taxes on groceries, housing, or gas. Sen. Blake Tillery, who’s also running for lieutenant governor—got a Republican-led study committee to agree on that much Wednesday. But here’s the catch: cutting the 5.19% income tax means lawmakers have to either slash the budget or find new revenue streams. Other states without income taxes, like Florida and Texas, lean heavily on sales taxes. Florida, for example, gets 75% of its revenue from a 6% sales tax. Not everyone’s sold. Sen. Nan Orrock, argued sales taxes hit low-income families hardest. But Republicans, like former Texas budget director Sarah Hicks, say businesses—and jobs—follow low taxes. Georgia’s already inching toward this goal, gradually lowering its income tax rate since 2022. The next hearing? October. STORY 7: Duluth High Student Kei Nagata Wins Prestigious Alexander Hamilton Scholar Award Duluth High’s Kei Nagata just snagged the prestigious Alexander Hamilton Scholar Award—an honor that screams leadership, grit, and heart. Out of nearly 800 applicants nationwide, only 26 students made the cut this year, and Kei’s one of them. The award, given by the Seattle-based Alexander Hamilton Scholars, isn’t just about a shiny title. It’s about mentorship, education, and the kind of determination Hamilton himself embodied—rising from poverty to greatness. Kei will join a tight-knit group of future changemakers, gaining access to internships, leadership training, and $1,000 in scholarships. The iguanodontians were an incredibly successful group within the Cretaceous. They could reach incredible sizes, with the largest species even matching the proportions of some sauropods, and they also had an incredible palaeogeographic range, meaning that their remains are found all over the world today. In the late Jurassic, they were a lot less diverse and much smaller, so the late Jurassic and early Cretaceous are key times for understanding the evolution of this group. Cariocecus bocagei is a newly described iguanodontian from the Early Cretaceous of Praia do Areia do Mastro, Portugal. Whilst it is only know from a partial skull, there are numerous useful characteristics that help identify it as a new species and fill in our understanding of iguanodontians in this important time in their evolution. Joining us in this episode is Dr Filippo Bertozzo of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences.

At the edge of Utah and Colorado, where canyons plunge and rivers carve through stone, lies Dinosaur National Monument — a place known today for Jurassic fossils and wild rivers. But hidden within its history is the story of a woman who lived on the frontier with grit, resilience, and ties to some of the West's most notorious outlaws. This episode of Parkography explores the life of Josie Bassett Morris — rancher, homesteader, friend (and sometimes lover) of Butch Cassidy's Wild Bunch — who carved out a life of independence in one of the harshest landscapes of the American West.
