It's not that ironic that the person who chose “kidDEAD” for a moniker brought an uncompromising passion for life into this world. After all, one of Ross' many gifts was messing with your expectations and challenging your deepest beliefs with both compassion and humor. I'm grateful that Ross left us some piece of that passion in his music and our memories, and I imagine he'd like nothing better than to celebrate his life and art alongside the comrades that loved him. Thank you for being a part of our lives, my friend. We'll carry you with us always in our hearts and in our headphones. Words and music from: OneWerd kidDEAD -"Imaginary Friends" feat. One of 2021's most unique and masterfully sequenced albums is POP 1967. Andrew sang, rapped and produced all but some guest spots from friends. The album and his EP follow up Manual Labor put him in the spotlight in a way he hasn't been before. Dan-O talks to Andrew about Elliott Smith, Black Thought, working with Darko The Super, Ialive, organizing releases through COVID, the resonance of Fiona Apple and how important it is to just always keep writing.
ialive has been knocking out top notch hip hop production, rapping, etc for 10 years strong. He announced a project under the name Donovan Days that will undoubtedly change the course of his career. Dan-O picks his brain about violence in America, the amazing cast of characters on his producer album I'll Wait Forever. To go from producing hip hop to singing, playing bass and guitar on your own Psych Rock diagnosis of our times is a massive artistic jump and digging into that state of mind is incredibly rewarding. Enjoy!

My guests this month are ialive and Darko The Super. I first heard ialive when he invited me to play his record release show in Philly. I got turned on to Darko’s music just a few months ago, after seeing them do a dual set in Baltimore. ialive breaks down his long history as a hip-hop fan, his first projects and his recent tours. Darko talks about what drove him to want to rap and make beats as a teenager, and his prolific album output. They tell me about creating their collaborative duo album, and the forthcoming sequel. The artwork this month (a tribute to Lords of the Undergrounds’s Here Come The Lords) is by I Taste Sound. This episode is hosted by Splice Today.
