The Giants may be a bad team after all. They followed up a historic winless six game homestand with a 4-2 roadtrip, and came right back home and lost five of six, meaning the Giants have lost 13 of their last 14 at home. They last time the franchise did that was 1940 in New York. They are below .500 for the season, on the road, and at home. Their only winning month is April. Their second half is atrocious, and they are 18-33 since being tied for first with the Dodgers on June 13. This is their fourth consecutive season of having a winning record in the first half, followed by a second half collapse. Visions of the postseason snatched away by ineptitude of the summer. But why? What is happening? The players don't know, BoMel doesn't know, but we all know that they stink and they have for quite some time. Their hitting is near the league bottom, they can't hit with runners in scoring position, and they are striking out at a prodigious rate. And don't get us started on the physical and mental errors on the field and basepaths (we're talking about you, Ramos!)With 41 games left, the Giants' postseason chances are essentially zero. What can we look forward to? An Eldridge call up? For Logan Webb to regain his composure? For Melvin to stop being so passive with his coaching and maybe light a fire under their collective asses? At least the anxiety of watching the Giants in the postseason won't be a reality, but when we look back, we realize that we've only experienced that anxiety one time in the last nine seasons. Their glory days are far behind them and may not be getting any closer to rekindling them if management doesn't find a solution soon.www.torturecast.com@torturecastfacebook.com/torturecast

This week, I'm sharing a joint episode I recorded with Andrea Ramos, founder of Building Gen Wealth. She's a first-gen Peruvian American financial educator who teaches first-gen WOC how to move beyond saving and begin building true, long-term wealth. We recorded this conversation because we wanted to name something that often goes unsaid: the ways our early money beliefs shaped not only how we spend—but also how we dream, take risks, and show up in business. As first-gen, we weren't raised to invest or become founders. We were raised to save and stay safe. But building wealth—on our terms—meant teaching ourselves a new language. One that held space for both financial security and growth.Inside this episode, we talk about:The early beliefs that shaped our “save everything” mindsetHow Andrea's parents' cancer diagnoses changed her financial pathHow even my multiple six-figure corporate salary still came with tradeoffsThe ways fear disguised itself as responsibility in our financial decisionsWhat we had to unlearn in order to become profitable founders and investorsAndrea is the founder of Building Gen Wealth and host of Latina Investors Podcast where she supports first-gen WOC to build wealth with confidence and clarity. In this eye-opening episode of Reading with Your Kids, we dive deep into the world of parenting with two incredible guests who are changing the game. First up, Richard Ramos, founder of Parents on a Mission, breaks down the myths about modern parenting. Forget the old "it takes a village" saying - Ramos argues that parents are the real architects of community, starting right in their own homes. Drawing from his own experience growing up in northeast Los Angeles, he shares a powerful message: parents are the number one asset in building safe, healthy communities. Ramos introduces six game-changing principles for parents, including personal growth, proper use of authority, and winning your children's loyalty. The key? Stop trying to fix your kids and start working on yourself. It's about emotional maturity, communication, and creating genuine connections. Then we switch gears to children's literature with author Gail Schlenger, who shares the heartwarming story behind her book "Papa Boar Snored". She reveals the magic of children's books - how they're not just about entertainment, but about helping kids understand and process complex emotions. Both guests emphasize a crucial point: parenting is a continuous journey of learning and growth. Whether you're dealing with a snoring parent or navigating teenage emotions, the most important tools are empathy, communication, and a willingness to admit when you're wrong. Parenting isn't about being perfect - it's about being present, authentic, and committed to growing alongside your children. Are you ready to make that commitment?
