Nós estamos falando do Aruaki, a língua do povo Wauja. […]

The Jim Beam Distillery recently made news when they announced they would cease distilling operations for one year at their main campus in Clermont, KY to make long overdue improvements to the distillery. While this headline certainly captivated folks near and far, Beam puts out a lot of product and someone needs to review it. That's where we come in. This week, we review two limited edition releases from Jim Beam: Little Book Infinite Edition II & Booker's The Reserves 2025 edition. In this episode of The Bourbon Lens Podcast, Jake and Scott travel to Clermont, Kentucky to sit down with Alex Bowie, Director of Homeplace Experiences at the James B. Beam Distilling Co. The conversation was recorded on location in Beam's brand-new podcast studio, with Bourbon Lens receiving early access to the space for an exclusive insider look. While working through a few first-day kinks in the new studio, Jake and Scott explore what makes the Beam Homeplace experience unique and dive into the current and upcoming whiskey innovations coming out of the James B. Beam Distilling Co. Alex shares insight into how Beam approaches storytelling, hospitality, and innovation while honoring generations of bourbon-making tradition. A major focus of the episode is the debut of the Hardin's Creek Warehouse Series, a new limited collection designed to showcase how different warehouse environments shape bourbon flavor. The discussion breaks down how rickhouse design, height, and microclimate influence maturation—even when all other production variables remain the same. The episode wraps with a look at Beam's newly announced partnership with the Cadillac Formula One Team, set to debut during Cadillac's inaugural 2026 F1 season, highlighting Beam's expanding global presence and crossover into motorsports culture. Hardin's Creek Warehouse Series: Release Details A New Chapter in Hardin's Creek Innovation The Hardin's Creek Warehouse Series is a limited, three-part collection that builds on the brand's experimental roots. Following the 2023 Kentucky Series—which explored terroir across multiple Beam campuses—this release isolates a single variable: the warehouse itself. Each bourbon uses the same mash bill and production process, allowing the aging environment to take center stage. As Freddie Noe, Eighth Generation Master Distiller at the James B. Beam Distilling Co., explains, the Warehouse Series demonstrates how maturation environments alone can dramatically shape flavor. The Three Warehouse Expressions Warehouse R – "The Mushroom" Aged in a single-story, windowless warehouse Cool, dark conditions similar to a forest floor Flavor profile emphasizes deep oak influence and toasted sweetness 55% ABV (110 proof), 11 years old Warehouse W – "The Beaver" Aged in a nearly 100-year-old, five-story rickhouse near a creek Produces a balanced bourbon with lighter oak smoke and depth 55% ABV (110 proof), 11 years old Warehouse G – "The Owl" Aged in a towering nine-story warehouse Results in layered aromatics and increased complexity 55% ABV (110 proof), 11 years old Each bottle features artwork by surrealist artist Max Loeffler, using symbolic characters and hidden design elements to tell the story of each warehouse environment. Congressional Ban - A vote on legislation banning members from owning or trading stocks could get a vote in the new year, according to House leadership and Republican members. - President Donald Trump has said he supports a congressional ban but has pushed back on versions that include the executive branch. - Basically this bill would prohibit the ownership of individual stocks by congress Over to Japan - Bank of Japan raises benchmark rates to highest in 30 years, lifting 10-year JGB yield past 2% - Yen still VERY weak - trading at 157/USD - (problematic) - The BOJ said that real interest rates are expected to remain “significantly negative,” adding that accommodative financial conditions will continue to firmly support economic activity. - The yen weakened 0.25% against the USD after the decision - therefore still dovish and stimulative Economic Numbers - Estimates, partial numbers and best guesses. Copper - Copper prices topped $12,000 a ton for the first time, extending the metal's recent bull run as mine outages add to concerns about supply. - The threat of US import tariffs on the metal has also been an important factor pushing up prices this year, with copper piling up in American warehouses. - Industry analysts have said that much of the richest and most easily accessible mining resources are now exhausted, and experts are warning that the market is on the cusp of a major deficit. Jim Beam - Bourbon maker Jim Beam is halting production at one of its distilleries in Kentucky for at least a year as the whiskey industry navigates tariffs from the Trump administration and slumping demand for a product that needs years of aging before it is ready. - Jim Beam said the decision to pause bourbon making at its Clermont location in 2026 will give the company time to invest in improvements at the distillery. The bottling and warehouse at the site will remain open, along with the James B. Beam Distilling Co. visitors center and restaurant. - The percentage of U.S. adults who say they consume alcohol has fallen to 54%, the lowest by one percentage point in Gallup's nearly 90-year trend. Ho Ho Ho !!! Send us a textInteresting things about the distillery:Said to be America's oldest continually maintained brand of whiskey, it was founded in West Overton, Pennsylvania, in 1810.Old Overholt is a rye whiskey distilled by A. Overholt & Co., currently a subsidiary of Beam Suntory, which is a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings of Osaka, Japan. It is currently distilled at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, KYHenry Oberholzer (Anglicized to “Overholt”), a German Mennonite farmer, moved to West Overton, Pennsylvania, on the banks of Jacobs Creek in Western Pennsylvania in 1800. His family came from the area of Germany which specialized in distilling “korn”, or rye whiskey, and Henry took up the tradition. In 1810, Henry's son took over the management of the distillery and made it into a business. By the 1820s, the distillery was putting out 12 to 15 gallons of rye whiskey per day. By 1859, Overholt incorporated his business as “A. Overholt & Co.” He operated out of a new distillery building that was six stories high, 100 feet long, and which could produce 860 gallons per day.Old Overholt was one of six distilleries allowed to continue issuing bottled-in-bond, government stamped, pints with a dosage cup atop the cap and doctor's prescription attached to the back.Maybe because Andrew Mellon was a partner in the business and he was the secretary of the treasury under HardingMellon Sold his shares in 1925 due to concerns from prohabisionists Beam bought out the old overholt in 1986, when they made the purchase of Dekuyper Peachtree Schnapps. This was during a time when brown liquor was frowned upon and clear liquors were in. Our Bottle:Pipe Pairings: 80 proof- Cornell and Diehl gentleman caller. Tucked away in the quiet community of Clermont, Florida, lived a man whose easygoing nature and love for the outdoors made him a friend to many. Michael Shaver was a hardworking father who seemed to juggle his responsibilities with an easy smile, always willing to lend a hand or share a laugh. But in early 2015, Michael's presence began to fade. Calls went unanswered, visits stopped, and gradually, he seemed to slip out of the daily rhythm of life. Yet the silence surrounding his absence raised far more questions than answers. Tonight, we dive into the story of Michael Shaver—his life, the relationships that defined him, and the unsettling mystery that followed when he vanished.SOURCES: 1) Michael Shaver: How Did He Die?
