Mark Knekelhuis is a world explorer who brings a love of live instrumentation to his dance music. The Knekelhuis label boss is a staunchly DIY operator who is also the voice of Volition Immanent, a live act along side Dekmantel regular Parrish Smith. He makes music that manages to be deeply personal but also immediate and arresting and that same style defines his radio shows on Red Light Radio. His mix for us is an exploration of deeply hypnotic sounds and dreamy breakbeats to slowly but surely wake you up right at the start of the week. Once you’re in the groove, there is space travelling electro and beautifully delicate melodic techno that continues to sooth your soul as you journey through the cosmos and off to a better place.

Speciaal voor gedichtendag krijg je de meest poëtische aflevering van Kratkruipers tot nu toe. Want Rik ging in Anderlecht langs bij Alex Deforce. Alex Deforce is beeldend kunstenaar, muziekfan en debuterend dichter. Hij heeft net zijn eerste echte werk uit, namelijk een album  getiteld 'Nachtdichter' op het Nederlandse label Knekelhuis met de Brusselse Victor De Roo. Vroeger was Alex als een bezetene bezig met nieuwe muziek op zijn (abel 'On Point', maar sinds kort schuimt hij de platenbakken af op zoek naar platen met poëzie. En hij heeft een heel pak verzameld intussen. Rising temperatures are starting to melt our cold hearts. The only way to celebrate this for us is to bring you a company of two talented producers. Laura and Andrea are part of an exciting project, probably already well known to you - As Longitude. You probably also know Andrea as Eva Geist, who has just released a phenomenal album full of minimal electronic gems and ambient experiences. As Longitude have release a 5 track EP on Knekelhuis, which is in very short supply even on reseller websites and demands a bit of an investment. Blauer Part is a fantastic collection of well balanced minimalism, sound design and experimentation. I really hope they are working on the next release, or better yet, a full album. You could have also seen a track on the MMODEMM compilation and the first Eine Welt release. Of course there is also a mixtape released on Sameheads. If you can get your hands on one, it is highly recommended. It is also available on Soundcloud, for those who prefer digital. We are back in Sameheads in Berlin for this recording. For podcast number seven we turn to the exceptionally talented German DJ that is Mick Wills. Rather than searching for the spotlight, Mick is DJ who cares only about the people dancing in front of him. He isn’t in this game to become a famous superstar headliner, he just wants to play records without a care in the world. And that is exactly what he does at knowing clubs around Europe. As a producer he has a small but perfectly formed discography with releases on International Deejay Gigolo Records, but it are his DJ skills that we focus on here. His two hour mix was recorded live at a Knekelhuis event at Amsterdam’s Studio 80 and starts off with some supple techno and intergalactic atmospheres before churning up his grooves with rough textures, kinked electro beats and tripped out acid jack. Getting deeper in the second half, the mix seamlessly transitions through many scenes and styles, taking listeners up, down and round and round in the process.
