In this episode of Lessons Relearned in Law, Scott looks back across the Lessons I Learned in Law archive to explore what happens when in-house legal careers move beyond the traditional boundaries of the legal role. This recap episode brings together clips from previous guests, each offering a different perspective on how lawyers can build careers that go beyond legal advice alone. The common thread is that none of these career moves were presented as superhuman or perfectly planned. Instead, they came from deliberate choices, uncomfortable opportunities and a willingness to think more broadly about what lawyers can contribute.Scott reflects on James's point that meaningful career change often starts with one honest question: are you in your current role because you chose it, or because it was simply the next thing available? From there, the episode turns to Pola's lesson on choosing discomfort, and why messy, challenging work can teach lawyers more in a few months than years of routine business-as-usual activity. Finally, Jim Reid shares why senior lawyers need to step away from being the expert in every detail and start thinking like the person who runs the room. For aspiring legal leaders, the message is practical: choose deliberately, pick discomfort, and watch how your CEO operates — then try it for yourself.Resources & Links Mentioned in This EpisodeRegister your interest in joining The Lodge In-house Legal Community: https://bit.ly/TheLodgebyHBHeriot Brown: https://heriotbrown.com/Wordsmith AI: https://www.wordsmith.ai/Legal Engineering Project Application form: https://wordsmith.fillout.com/legalengprojectListen to the PodcastSpotify: [LINK]Apple Podcasts: [LINK]YouTube: [LINK]Connect with Heriot Brownhttps://heriotbrown.com/About Heriot Brown:At Heriot Brown, we help lawyers find fulfilment in their careers. This weeks guest put together a deep and funky mix I have been playing for a few days now. He's a PREMIUM selector and we know you guys will love this one. Inspired by legendary Midwest junglists like DJ 3D, Phantom 45, and Danny the Wildchild, Shawn Blond has been on the pulse of drum & bass for as long as he can remember. His mixes reflect a deep appreciation for the full spectrum of DnB - from deep rollers to jump-up to liquid - seamlessly blending energy, emotion, and grit.

Roman Polański – wybitny reżyser i jedna z najbardziej kontrowersyjnych postaci światowego kina. To rozmowa o historii, pamięci, moralności i kinie. Tadeusz Lubelski? 2. Jakie nieznane historie o wojennych losach Romana Polańskiego i jego ojca ujawnia książka „Nie biec, iść”? 3. W jaki sposób doświadczenia okupacji wpłynęły na twórczość autora „Dziecka Rosemary”, „Lokatora” i „Pianisty”?

Kencan Dengan Tuhan - Jumat, 10 Juli 2026Bacaan: "Tetapi Yesus berkata kepada mereka: "Tidak perlu mereka pergi, kamu harus memberi mereka makan." (Matius 14:16)Renungan: Suatu kali di sebuah komplek perumahan terjadi kebanjiran. Air masuk ke rumah warga. Semua panik.

I have done my share of traveling in Europe, and when I am there, I visit cathedrals. Most are majestic, and they are filled with Christian art that would take a decent docent a decade to unpack for me. I have never been to Brussels, though I would like to visit. And when I am there, I expect to make a special trip to the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula. That is the subject of Flora Cassen's new book, "Stained Glass: A Reflective History of Antisemitism." The cathedral is, by all accounts, a masterpiece. Built between the 13th and 15th centuries, it rises above the old town on its own little hill, and when the lights hit the stonework at night, it looks like lace carved out of sky. But I imagine myself stepping inside. I would look intensely and intentionally at the stained-glass windows — the ones donated by Belgium's first two kings in the 19th century. And inside that beautiful space, an erudite guide might tell a story about a Jew who, in 1370, was accused of torturing Communion wafers.  It is an expression of one of the libels that tormented Jews during the Middle Ages — one of the most bizarre — the host desecration libel. It resulted in six Jews burned at the stake and the rest expelled from the city. And there it is. In the windows. In the tapestries. In the chapel. In the capital of the European Union. Today.  Flora's book is itself a modern medieval tapestry — of Jewish and European history and family memoir, the story of a 15th-century Jewish woman named Beatrice de Luna — also known as Dona Gracia — and the story of Flora's own grandmother, Pola, who fled the Nazi occupation of Belgium through the Congo.  So, why does this book matter, and why do you need to read it? It is because of what you already know. Antisemitism is rising — on university campuses, in social media feeds, even in food co-ops in Brooklyn. Learn more about your ad choices. 3. Supreme Court Ruling on Racial Gerrymandering Guest: Richard Epstein Richard Epstein analyzes the Supreme Court striking down a Louisiana congressional map, discussing the complexities of racial gerrymandering and the resulting political polarization from redistricting efforts under the current Voting Rights Act. 31900 LA HOTEL RAMONA
