In this week's episode, I sit with Denequa Williams-Clarke, the founder of LIT Brooklyn, a luxury, eco-friendly candle company. I actually kinda stalked Denequa after hearing her speak at an event I attended in NYC back in 2019. She was on the panel after being featured in She Did That a Netflix documentary exploring the passionate pursuits of black women who are building legacies and making history. We recorded this episode prior to the pandemic and I know that since then her business has catapulted into new and inspiring territories. After deciding she wanted to launch a candle company, Denequa taught herself how to make candles, and since then, has been able to partner with top brands and has grown her passion into a profitable business. We discuss Her quitting her job as an assistant manager at a luxury fashion house, her Caribbean upbringing, How she started her business with the support of a great partner, losing her dad and how navigating grief impacted her as an entrepreneur. And we spoke about rest and what that looks like. Seeing as rest is our them for the month we'd love to know how you rest. So drop us a note after listening to this. As usual like, share, rate and subscribe. Still, we bloom.

Today on the show, we have a woman who’s hustle inspires me.Her name is Denequa Williams and she is the maker and owner of luxury soy candle company, LIT Brooklyn. Every candle is candle is hand poured, packaged, and shipped from Brooklyn. Within a year of it's existence, she has been featured in some of your favorite publications, Essence, Ebony, Teen Vogue, Huffington Post, BuzzFeed & more. Now LIT Brooklyn is still a young company, but it seems like for the past year, every event I was at, she was at. Lo and behold, people would go home, use the product and before you know it were sharing on social media and talking about this amazing product. What better way to round out the theme of How to create, sell and market your physical products, than to talk to an entrepreneur who is learning on the go, making it work and pushing through real, life personal challenges to make it by any means necessary. On this episode, Denequa dishes on: Not being afraid to ask for help Networking the smart way Creating a product that people would be proud to own and share How she found the strength to keep going through personal tragedy This episode wraps up our theme for the month, which is How to Create, Sell and Market Your Physical products.
