What is the Daily Office in Anglicanism, and how do we pray it? In this edition of Ask the Church, we explain Morning and Evening Prayer and the basic structure of the Daily Office—confession, psalms, Scripture readings, the Apostles' Creed, and prayers. We also offer practical help for beginners, particularly when the Daily Office feels awkward or “stilted” at first when prayed alone. The Daily Office is a way of joining the Church's shared prayers and letting Scripture and prayer shape daily life together.

The Trump administration’s move to invoke the Defense Production Act to restart California offshore oil operations has ignited a political firestorm. Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the decision, accusing Trump of exploiting the Iran war crisis to justify actions that threaten California’s coastline and environmental protections. Meanwhile, some California drivers argue that expanded offshore drilling could ease supply pressures and bring relief from punishing gas prices, exposing a sharp divide between economic frustration and environmental risk. Bobby Kros hates interviews as much as he loves brewing beer, and while the cofounder of the La Vista, Nebraska, brewery may occasionally search for words to describe what he's doing, the beers he makes are perfectible capable of speaking for themselves. And speak they have, winning Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine® Best in Beer trophies in 2021, 2024, and 2025, in three wildly divergent styles. Yet Kros isn't resting on his laurels, and he continues to experiment with new ingredients and techniques in pursuit of perfection. In this episode, Kros discusses: brewing Czech-style pale lager with floor-malted Bohemian malt improving efficiency through dry hopping without sacrificing quality balancing beween hot-side, whirlpool, and dry-hop additions in hazy IPA experimenting with new and unreleased concentrated flowable hop products changing recipes for every batch in the elusive hunt for perfection using lighter C-malts in barleywine while using the barrel as an ingredient cask-conditioning in orange-wine barrels And more. What happens when a water chemist leaves the lab and heads to the pump room? Dr. Jake Elliott knows firsthand. A former PhD researcher who studied resource recovery from trade‑waste customers, Jake now manages accounts at Hydro flow in Melbourne, working with cooling towers, boilers, chemical dosing rigs and wastewater treatment systems. He joins host Trace Blackmore to discuss how rigorous research, regulatory compliance and process automation translate into practical field work for industrial water treatment professionals. From PhD Research to Industrial Practice Jake's academic background informs the way he approaches operations. While completing his PhD he investigated how to recover resources from wastewater permits, synthesizing municipal data with bench‑scale testing. Today he draws on that experience to design treatment systems and advise customers on cooling‑tower and boiler chemistry. He emphasizes long‑term efficiency: spending a little extra time or money now can save much more later. This mentality helps him balance the competing demands of design, installation, sales and service, and underscores Hydro flow's support for continuing education. Balancing Service, Sales and Efficiency No two days look alike for Jake. One week he is calibrating pH probes, inspecting cooling towers and designing dosing skids; the next he is troubleshooting filtration systems or negotiating wastewater discharge limits. To stay ahead of his schedule, he deliberately "drags things as early as possible" and completes visits well before month‑end. Jake uses the iPhone Reminders app to tag tasks by site, service type and system; location triggers ensure he never forgets critical parts. He advocates automating routine reports and allowing generative AI to massage field notes into professional correspondence, provided every line is double‑checked for accuracy. Even at the end of a long day, tools such as ChatGPT help him strike the right tone in customer emails. Regulation, Training and Risk Management Jake contrasts cooling‑tower regulation in Australia with the more fragmented approach in the United States. In Victoria every tower must be registered, documented and sampled on a schedule; non‑compliance leads to fines. The risk management plan – the term used in Australia for what many Americans call a water management plan – is a comprehensive document containing details of the cooling tower, associated chillers and a unique registration number. Australian practitioners follow the AS/NZS 3666 standard, and third‑party RMP reviews and audits are annual requirements. Jake notes that an equivalent certification does not yet exist for international candidates seeking the Certified Water Technologist designation, although metric‑based exams may be under consideration. Sales, Communication and Mentorship Serving existing customers often means identifying the real decision drivers. Jake categorizes site priorities – cost reduction, profit increase, ease of use and product quality – and tailors proposals accordingly. He maintains open communication with influencers while gently probing approval limits, sometimes splitting quotes so that local managers can sign off without escalating requests. Mentorship is both a given and a goal: Hydro flow holds monthly meetings where technicians, account managers and production staff share problems and solutions, allowing juniors to benefit from seasoned expertise. Jake encourages newcomers to simply "do it" – the blend of hands‑on work, autonomy and flexibility makes industrial water treatment a rewarding career. In his lightning‑round advice he urges his younger self to be selective about commitments and to automate early. Dr. Jake Elliott demonstrates that a rigorous scientific background and a passion for efficiency translate into better service, improved compliance and happier customers. His tips on process automation, risk management and sales communication help water professionals navigate a complex landscape while maintaining work–life balance. Gas prices are continuing to rise with the average price in California now 5.29. That's a 62 cent jump in a week. And the worst may be yet to come thanks in part to a proposed update to a state climate program. For more, KCBS's Rebecca Goodeyon spoke with KCBS Insider Phil Matier.
Why do some churches celebrate Communion every week while others do it much less frequently? In this edition of Ask the Church, we explore how our church's understanding of the Eucharist shapes how often it is celebrated. The discussion centers on the idea of the “means of grace”—the ways God has promised to give His grace through the proclamation of Scripture and the celebration of the sacraments. Understanding the Lord's Supper in this way helps explain why many churches (including ours!) celebrate it more regularly.

Ian Crosbie, CEO of Sequana Medical, identifies the incidence of liver cirrhosis and the complication of liver ascites, which causes significant fluid buildup in the belly that severely impacts a patient's quality of life. Standard treatment requires repeated hospital visits to drain the fluid. The alfapump developed by Sequana is a fully implanted device that continuously drains ascites into the bladder for natural excretion, eliminating the need for drainage procedures. Ian explains, "Liver ascites is a complication of liver cirrhosis, a serious condition where the liver becomes badly scarred. As a result, the fluid accumulates in the belly, often five to ten liters of fluid. And as you can imagine, this causes huge swelling of the belly and major clinical problems, and obviously dramatically impacts the quality of life of these patients. "So we're in an era of AI and targeted cancer therapies, CAR-T, and things like that. But the standard of care for these patients is to let them build up five to ten liters of fluid in their bellies, then bring them into hospital, stick a big needle in them, drain them over the course of five to seven hours, send them away, and then the moment they leave hospital, they start to reaccumulate that fluid again, and the process starts all over. That is a procedure known as paracentesis. Not only is it, as you can imagine, a painful, burdensome, and traumatic procedure, but in the days leading up to the procedure, the days and weeks as the fluid starts to accumulate, all those impacts on quality of life and clinical complications occur. And so that is why we developed alfapump to stop the buildup of fluid in the belly and to stop all of those problems and to stop those regular visits to the hospital." #SequanaMedical #MedicalDevices #LiverDisease #HealthcareInnovation #PatientCare #MedTech #Alfapump #DigitalHealth #ChronicDisease #QualityOfLife #HealthTech #MedicalBreakthrough sequanamedical.com Listen to the podcast here
Ian Crosbie, CEO of Sequana Medical, identifies the incidence of liver cirrhosis and the complication of liver ascites, which causes significant fluid buildup in the belly that severely impacts a patient's quality of life. Problems can include instability and falling. You can imagine with all that weight out front. The swelling of the belly causes difficulty eating, breathing, sleeping, and functioning." ⚙️ Arthritis Isn't Random—It's MechanicalIf arthritis were simply caused by age, then every disc in your spine—being the same age—would wear down equally. But that's not what we see.I'll often show patients their X-rays and point out something like this:C5–C6: Disc thinning, bone spurs, degenerationC2–C3: Looks greatSame person.Same age.Same spine. So, what gives? At some point, a misalignment (subluxation) occurred at that segment, changing how it moved—and more importantly, how it didn't move.

For the first time since 2022, oil prices have climbed above one hundred dollars a barrel as the joint Us-Israeli operation against Iran continues, disrupting energy supplies. President Trump and his team say the pain is temporary, but the pressure at the gas pump comes on the heels of a disappointing jobs report last week… and lingering uncertainty over tariffs. EJ Antoni, Chief Economist at the Heritage Foundation, joins FOX Business's Lydia Hu to discuss his outlook for energy costs and the potential long-term economic impact of high prices. Antoni also breaks down the Heritage Foundation's Index of Economic Freedom and explains how the President's tax and deregulatory policies are supporting families and businesses. Hour 1 - There’s a lot going on in the world, including an active situation in the Middle East. And it’s severely impacting the price of gas in the US. The average price went up 40 cents within a week. So why are they blowing up oil fields? The Los Angeles basin is no longer filled with smog, despite more vehicles on the road. It’s due to technology, filtering and fuel efficiency. Why doesn’t an oil-rich state like California produce more gas and oil? Daylight Savings: Should we leave it as it is now — darker mornings and brighter evenings? Nationals like Russia, Jordan, Iran and Turkey have already done away with daylight savings — should we follow suit? The burgers wars continue! The CEO of McDonald’s was made fun of by the Burger King CEO and he didn’t like it. That’s what you get for eating a burger publicly — yet weirdly.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Home EV charging costs are shielded for now by the energy price cap — fixed at 24.67p per kWh for electricity until end of June — but wholesale price rises could push the cap higher from July, making both home wallbox and public charging more expensive.EUROPEAN FLEETS COULD SAVE €246BN BY 2030A new EY and Eurelectric report finds that fully electrifying Europe's corporate fleets could deliver up to €246 billion in cumulative savings and cut one billion tonnes of CO2 by 2030. However, the authors warn that cheaper running costs alone will not drive mass uptake, calling for coordinated action from manufacturers, policymakers, grid operators and finance providers to tackle high upfront costs, uncertain residual values, and charging infrastructure delays.CUPRA BORN FACELIFT BRINGS SHARP NOSE, SMALL TWEAKSCupra has facelifted the Born with a "shark nose" front end, triangular matrix LED headlights, a continuous rear light strip, and new 235 mm tyres across all five wheel options, while the aerodynamically improved 79 kWh variants now claim around 600 km (373 miles) of WLTP range. A new entry "Born Plus" trim pairs a 58 kWh battery with a 140 kW motor — figures that match Ford's Capri LFP option and strongly suggest a switch to LFP cells from the updated MEB+ platform — though Cupra has not confirmed drivetrain details and appears to be saving that announcement for a related reveal, likely the VW ID.3 facelift later in 2026.FORD EV SALES SINK 71% AFTER LIGHTNING EXITFord's US EV sales collapsed 71% in February 2026 to just 2,122 units, the steepest monthly drop in its EV history, driven by the discontinuation of the F-150 Lightning and the expiry of the federal EV tax credit. Ford's Model e division lost $4.8 billion in 2025 and is forecast to lose another $4–5 billion in 2026, with profitability not expected until 2029; the company has already booked a $19.5 billion writedown and is pivoting to a new ~$30,000 midsize electric pickup it hopes will revive the business by 2027.LUCID PATCHES GRAVITY SOFTWARE AGAINLucid Motors has pushed software update 3.4.4 to the Gravity SUV, targeting AC charging improvements and Drive Assist availability, following a January update that resolved around 95% of earlier software issues — with the car averaging a new update every 24 days since launch. Lucid has closed its online configurator for both the Air and Gravity while it prepares its 2027 model year announcement, and Air owners face a $950 hardware upgrade bill to access the newer UX 3.0 platform already running in the Gravity, due to arrive by autumn 2026.MITSUBISHI READIES LEAF-BASED EV FOR CANADAMitsubishi is preparing its first all-new model since the Eclipse Cross for Canadian dealerships in 2026, built on Nissan's CMF-EV platform and LEAF architecture, with spy shots showing a heavily camouflaged prototype that shares the LEAF's roofline, proportions, and rear hatch panel. Both models will be built side by side at Nissan's Kaminokawa plant in Japan, and Mitsubishi may receive the smaller battery pack to undercut the LEAF on entry price — a strategy that would see Nissan supply the foundations while a cheaper sibling competes for the same buyers.ALPITRONIC UNVEILS HYC400 SERIES 2 CHARGERAlpitronic has launched the HYC400 Series 2, retaining the 400 kW maximum output of its predecessor while upgrading to a 22-inch touchscreen (up from 15.6 inches), second-generation silicon carbide power stacks, and a higher continuous output current of 600 A (up from 500 A). The unit maintains 97.5% charging efficiency but standby power consumption rises significantly from 43 W to under 100 W, and cable options narrow to a single 5-metre length; Alpitronic will sell both generations simultaneously to suit different site requirements.APTERA SHOWS FIRST VALIDATION-LINE VEHICLE PHOTOAptera Motors has published the first photo of a vehicle off its validation assembly line, marking a milestone for its three-wheeled, solar-assisted EV that claims 400 miles of range from a 44 kWh battery and up to 40 miles of daily solar charging, classified as a motorcycle to bypass certain safety regulations. The launch edition price has risen to $40,000 — a $9,300 increase from prior estimates — though a $28,000 model is planned for the future, and with nearly 50,000 pre-orders and a stated daily capacity of 80–100 vehicles, Aptera claims it could fulfil all orders within 500 days of full production, though the end-of-year delivery timeline remains uncertain.GEELY TARGETS DEFENDER WITH GALAXY BATTLESHIPGeely plans to launch the Galaxy Battleship in the UK in 2028, a blocky hybrid 4x4 aimed squarely at the Land Rover Defender and Toyota Land Cruiser, with a production design expected to stay 90–95% true to the Galaxy Cruiser concept shown at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show. Built on the GEA Evo platform with steer- and brake-by-wire, it may use an AI-driven plug-in hybrid system with a stated output of around 858 bhp, and Geely is promising an interior that surpasses the Defender's for luxury — a bold claim for the Chinese brand's first foray into the 4x4 segment.EU UNVEILS LOCAL-CONTENT RULES FOR CLEAN TECHThe European Commission has unveiled the Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA), tying over €2 trillion in public procurement and subsidies to low-carbon and "Made-in-EU" conditions across sectors including EVs, steel, cement, and wind turbines, with the goal of raising manufacturing's share of EU economic output from 14% to 20% by 2035. China is excluded from the initial trusted-partner list — which includes the UK, Canada, and the US — and foreign investments above €100 million from countries controlling 40%+ of global production would face strict conditions including capped 49% foreign ownership and mandatory technology transfer; BMW and Mercedes oppose the Act over fears of higher costs, while Renault backs it and the text must still clear the European Parliament before becoming law.

Dan Brouillette has always worked in creative fields—he was a professional photographer before launching Lumen in the waning days of the pandemic—but he's always been particularly attracted to the technical aspects of creation. Like every IPA-focused brewer, he's on a neverending search for the most expressive, layered, and interesting hops. But he's also found that the information upon which many brewers rely when choosing hop lots often tells an incomplete story. Total oil numbers can be misleading, as they include oils that don't survive the brewing process; hops that smell good relative to others at selection may not have high enough oil concentration to punch through in finished beer. Brouillette has found that using past chemical data paired with his own sensory can be far more effective when seeking out hops that are going to give him the impact he seeks. In this episode, Brouilette shares: how spreadsheets are often a better tool for selecting hop lots than the old-fashioned rub his process for earmarking specific hop compounds at certain thresholds to ensure they're effective in beer designing different types of hazy IPA that appeal to different use cases and drinkers achieving beautiful hop expression in hazy IPAs with less than 4 percent ABV brewing hazy IPA with only 40 percent base malt And more. “We're brewing our World Beer Cup beers right now, and those will be much different than a beer that I want to make Top Drops on Instagram,” Brouilette says. “They're just different audiences. We don't brew one type of hazy IPA. There are different segments and sub-styles within the style, and we brew all of those.” G&D Chillers G&D's new Elite 290 Micro-series runs on a Natural Refrigerant with near-zero Global Warming Potential—built for brewers who care about sustainability and performance. They recently built one for New Belgium Brewing, delivering around 50% energy savings over CO₂ systems and 9% more efficiency than A2Ls. That's real-world impact from a brewery that knows what it takes. With 24/7 support and remote monitoring, your cold side stays dialed in—day or night. Oil prices are surging following this weekend's US and Israeli strikes on Iran. Fears mount that the conflict could drag on for weeks. Compounding that concern are reports that Iran is moving to restrict passage in the Strait of Hormuz—the world's most critical oil export route. a prolonged blockade – and the potential targeting of oil facilities -- could create a severe global supply crunch. The destabilization of the region is also impacting other industries, including travel and banking. Meanwhile, gold and the dollar bounced as investors moved to safety, fearing the military operation could be prolonged. FOX Business Network's Taylor speaks with her Big Money Show co-host Jackie DeAngelis about how Operation Epic Fury has the oil markets on edge, and what it could mean for gas prices in the coming weeks and months.
