Today I'm sharing five ways to think about gift giving (or gift requesting). These categories of gifts run the gamut from flies to personalized matted prints; destination excursions to angling-themed rocks glasses. Leslie welcomes back Scott Paul, President of the Alliance for American Manufacturing, for a preview of the newly released 2025 'Made in America Holiday Gift Guide.' (link: https://www.americanmanufacturing.org/blog/the-2025-made-in-america-holiday-gift-guide/) This year's guide makes it easier than ever for shoppers to find U.S.-made products and support American workers this holiday season. New polling released with the Gift Guide shows overwhelming demand for locally made goods, with 81% of Americans saying they're as likely or more likely to buy American-made products this year. The vast majority (83%) of shoppers say they would buy more Made in USA goods if these products were more widely available. The Gift Guide bridges that gap, connecting consumers with the craftsmanship, quality and well-paid jobs that come from buying Made in America. In its 12th year, the 2025 Guide features 148 manufacturers and makers from across all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. There's an American-made gift for everyone, with finds ranging from model airplane kits and stocking stuffers to jewelry and grills. Shoppers can browse the guide by state or product category, and a new segment this year highlights brick-and-mortar stores specializing in state-made goods for in-person shopping. Additionally, AAM's Made in America Directory spotlights 873 companies and their products that are not featured in this year's Guide. Leslie and Scott highlight five of the companies and their gift offerings for just a taste of the guide. Here they are: 1 - WicR Have you always wanted to be a plant parent but were too scared you'd forget to water them every day? Fear no more: WicR is a self-watering product that makes it a lot easier. All you have to do is place the WicR at the bottom of your pot, cover it with soil, and place your plant in. Then, after an initial watering, the WicR will self-water your plant for seven to ten days. A game-changer for plant care! 2 - Alaska Glacial Essentials Skincare Alaska Glacial Essentials Skincare draws from its surrounding beauty in Cordova, Alaska, to enhance the quality of the products they make there. This company sources glacial minerals and botanicals for gentle but effective formulas, and all its products are vegan and cruelty-free. Its energy-efficient facility operates on 60-80% community hydropower, and the Certified B Corps company prides itself on a commitment to sustainability. Alaska Glacial Essentials Skincare donates 2% of its revenues to organizations that protect the Alaskan environment, such as the Copper River Watershed Project. 3 - Made-Plus Footwear The vast majority of footwear today is imported. But Alan Guyan, an alum of Under Armour's shoe division, saw an opportunity to do things differently. That's why he started Made+, a luxury athletic shoe brand based in Annapolis. All the shoes are made with 100% recycled yarn — and that yarn is made from repurposed plastic water bottles. These shoes come in all sorts of designs; they even sell shoes specially designed for pickleball. If you're looking to replace those athletic shoes, Made+ is an incredible choice. (And check out their in-person storefront if you're near Annapolis!) Lastly, be sure to check out AAM's blog post featuring Made+ from last month, where you can find on their website at AmericanManufacturing.org/blog 4 - High Strung Studios For the music lover on your list, High Strung Studios hits all the right notes. This woman-owned business transforms real guitar strings into beautiful, handcrafted jewelry made right here in the USA. Each bracelet, necklace, and pair of earrings carries a touch of rhythm and a whole lot of heart, making them perfect for anyone who finds joy in a good song. Thoughtful, unique, and full of holiday cheer, these gifts truly strike a chord. 5 - Cycle Dog Bring some wag-worthy joy to the holidays with Cycle Dog, a woman-owned company in Portland, making eco-friendly gear for dogs who love to play. Every collar, leash, toy and bed is crafted in the USA using recycled materials, keeping millions of inner tubes and bottles out of landfills. Durable, sustainable and made by a team of passionate makers (and their pups), these gifts are perfect for anyone who wants to spoil their dog, spread a little holiday cheer, and do good for the planet all at once. Lastly, Leslie and Scott talk about Project MFG. What's Project MFG? Think Top Chef — but for welders, machinists and engineers. Ray Dick, founder of Project MFG and creator of the YouTube reality show 'Clash of Trades,' is inspiring the next generation of manufacturers through hands-on competition and community engagement. AAM's website is AmericanManufacturing.org and their YouTube channel is youtube.com/@AmericanMfg (where you can watch episode's of AAM's podcast, "The Manufacturing Report") If you want to listen to episodes of "The Manufacturing Report," visit AmericanManufacturing.org/Podcast. Their handles on X and BlueSky are @KeepItMadeInUSA, and @keepitmadeinusa.bsky.social, respectively. Scott's handle on X is @ScottPaulAAM.
We all have that one person on our holiday list who already seems to have everything. Whether they're a full-on tech geek or just impossible to shop for, we dug through YEARS of Notnerd picks to bring you the ultimate list of gadgets, gear, and oddball gifts — perfect for anyone.

✨ Episode Summary:In this heartwarming holiday episode, Cheri pops out of her retreat-mode to drop a cozy, candid Thanksgiving chat straight from her pink treehouse. Inspired by a silent meditation retreat and a real-talk moment with a client, she gets real about why gratitude sometimes feels forced—and how to gently shift into a more loving, ease-filled practice. With stories of chapstick, cranky teens, and making lunches with love, Cheri invites us to stop overthinking gratitude and start living it. This episode ends with a beautiful, breath-centered guided meditation on love and thankfulness.

Audio Pizza's annual holiday gift guide is back, with Sean, Garth and Kayaker trading banter, bad weather reports and actually decent present ideas. They compare Meta smart glasses with newer AI-first options, talk through why Apple's AirPods Pro 3 and Apple Watch remain go-to tech gifts, and get surprisingly passionate about good iPhone cases, light-up white canes, and properly sharp kitchen knives. Garth throws in tactile Hanayama puzzles and UV-printed tactile photos as great options for blind and low-vision friends, and the trio round things out with a defence of gift cards, a detour into accessible jigsaws, and a spirited argument about cutting up food and eating with your hands.

One of the things we've been talking about in our LABS program is Q4 sales strategies because we are heading into the holiday season which as you know, is one of the busiest times of year for product-based business owners. Today, I want to talk about one really powerful marketing strategy that often gets overlooked, but it's a good way to help drive sales for Q4. That strategy is being your own gift guide. I think there's a misconception for smaller product brands that big media or working with influencers on their product roundups is the only way to get more eyes on your products. While yes, these are good options and you can and should be pitching yourself to these opportunities, getting placement in larger media isn't the only way to shine a spotlight on your product. In fact, you can create your own gift guide experience and you can do this on your website, through your email list, across wholesale and retail channels. It's all done in the name of making it easier for your customers to purchase from you. So I'm going to walk you through how to do this, including how to set up your gift guide collections on Faire and Shopify, how to create emails that highlight those products, and how you can collaborate with other like-minded brands to expand your reach of your gift guide and perhaps share theirs too. Today's episode is brought to you by our Proof to Product resource library. It's where you can get your hands on our free resources to help you start, streamline and scale your business in your own way and at your own pace. In this episode of the Gloria Chou PR Podcast, Gloria breaks down the biggest untapped opportunity for small business owners right now: using AI tools like Perplexity to get featured in media—and dominate AI search results—without hiring a PR agency. With traditional PR agencies charging thousands per month, Gloria shows founders a faster, more affordable path to visibility. She reveals how Perplexity is reshaping how product-based businesses land press, monitor trends, and pitch journalists with strategy and precision. The Golden Window for Small Business PRRight now, small businesses are in a once-in-a-decade window to leverage AI-powered search visibility. Gloria explains how AI-driven search recommendations are becoming the new SEO—and why being cited in media makes you 300% more likely to be found in AI search.By combining seasonal gift guide pitching with AI tools, founders can get featured faster than ever before. How to Use Perplexity to Get FeaturedPerplexity.ai isn't just a search engine—it's your new PR researcher. Gloria walks through her five-step system to use it effectively:Find Timely Angles – Plug in your brand name and URL to uncover trending topics and customer insights you can tie your story to.Research Competitors – See where similar brands are getting featured and adapt those media angles.Discover Gift Guide Opportunities – Identify seasonal and evergreen gift guides that are actively being written.Draft the Perfect Pitch – Use Gloria's CPR Method (Credibility, Point of View, Relevance) to write compelling, journalist-ready emails.Monitor Industry Conversations – Stay on top of real-time trends journalists are talking about—so you can be first to pitch. The AI-Powered PR WorkflowGloria also shares her favorite pairing: Perplexity for research + ChatGPT for writing. Perplexity gives you real-time insights and citations; ChatGPT turns those into polished, engaging pitches. This combo removes 90% of the time and stress founders usually spend on PR.Why the Time Is NowGift guide season, the rise of AI search, and the accessibility of free tools have created the perfect storm for small businesses. Gloria calls this the “Golden Triangle of Opportunity.”In her words:“It's like blogging in the early 2000s or joining TikTok before it exploded. This kind of advantage for small businesses has never happened before—and probably won't again for another decade.”Final TakeawayYou don't need a publicist, samples, or paid ads to get national press. What you do need is: ✅ Relevance ✅ Consistency ✅ StrategyIf you're ready to get your products featured in media and show up at the top of AI search, now's the time to start.
