Hey Doc,As Juneteenth approaches, I've been thinking a lot about freedom. Not the big, abstract kind we usually talk about. The everyday kind. The freedom to be a child. The freedom to love your beautiful brown skin without anyone planting doubt in your mind. The freedom to be curious, imaginative, and just a little bit weird. In this episode, I'm sharing some of the moments that make me grateful for the life my husband and I have intentionally created for our children. From my daughter proudly celebrating her beautiful brown skin to my son's innocent toy names that accidentally sparked a conversation about race, this episode is really about what happens when children are given space to simply be themselves.I also talk about homeschooling, socialization, and why I've never been convinced by the argument that children need more exposure to the world when so much of what adults struggle with comes directly from the messages we've absorbed from it.This isn't a debate about homeschooling. It's a celebration of freedom. And as we honor Juneteenth, that feels especially important. In This Episode:Why I proudly call my children "little weirdos"The difference between confidence and conditioningThe first racist experiences my son had as a preschoolerWhat my daughter taught me about beautiful brown skinWhy the socialization argument doesn't move meThe surprising lesson behind toys named Blackie and WhiteyWhat freedom looks like inside our homeThis episode is a love letter to Black childhood, intentional parenting, and creating environments where our children can thrive before the world tells them who they should be.
Hey Doc—If you're looking for an au pair right now and wondering whether all the good candidates have disappeared into thin air, you're not imagining it.I've had several physician moms ask me how I find au pairs when the agency websites seem completely picked over. And since I'm currently searching for a new au pair myself, the timing felt perfect to pull back the curtain on exactly how I do it.This is not a conversation about choosing an agency or comparing program fees. This is about creating a process that keeps you organized, efficient, and significantly less likely to lose your mind during the search.Because if you're anything like me, you already have a career, a family, and approximately 47 other responsibilities. Spending hours scrolling through profiles only to forget who you've already contacted is not the best use of your time.In this episode, I'm sharing the system I built during our last search, the one that helped us find an amazing au pair who stayed with our family for years. You'll hear why I start outside the agency apps, how I organize candidates, where I actually find people, and the simple preparation that makes the entire process smoother. In this episode, I discuss:Why the au pair apps may not be the best place to start your searchThe simple organizational system that keeps candidates from slipping through the cracksHow I use Facebook groups strategically without getting trapped scrolling for hoursWhat information I track for every candidateThe message template that saves me time and helps start conversations quicklyWhy preparation matters more than most people realizeFinding childcare support shouldn't feel like a second full-time job.A little organization on the front end can save you hours of frustration later.

Hey Doc,Were you taught that patients lie?I was.Somewhere during training, the idea got planted that our job is to uncover the truth because patients won't always tell it. Then I became an attending and started experiencing it myself. You spend twenty minutes counseling a patient. You draw diagrams. You answer questions. You document everything. Then somehow…“Nobody explained that to me.”“The doctor never told me.”“I never saw the doctor.”If you've ever walked back to your office wondering whether you're losing your mind, this episode is for you. What surprised me is that it wasn't until I left traditional practice that I gained enough distance to see these situations differently. And recently, while helping run our HVAC business, I watched my husband experience the exact same thing physicians deal with every day.A customer insisted he hadn't been told something that had been explained multiple times.Sound familiar? In this episode, I'm talking about why these interactions can feel so demoralizing, why they contribute to resentment and burnout, and how a little compassion can sometimes protect you more than the other person. Not because patients are always right. But because carrying around the belief that it's you versus them is exhausting. In this episode, I discuss:Why “patients lie” may be one of the most harmful lessons we learn in trainingHow being repeatedly questioned can create resentment and burnoutThe surprising parallels between medicine and running an HVAC businessWhy people often misremember conversations without malicious intentHow documentation protects us when memory and perception don't matchThe role compassion plays in preserving your career longevityIf you've ever felt unseen, misunderstood, or questioned after doing your absolute best for a patient, this episode is my reminder that I see you.And I believe you.
In this episode of Inside Source, Mary Straton Smith sits down with Toya Barnes-Teamer and Tia Teamer for a meaningful conversation about legacy, leadership, and working alongside family. It's an inspiring look at how strong values can guide both a company and a family across generations.
Hey Doc —I finally had to sit down and record this episode because I keep talking about NotebookLM to everybody. My Facebook friends. My sisters. Random physician moms who probably just asked me one innocent question and suddenly got a 20-minute TED Talk about AI

I have to tell you what just happened in my house. My son ran inside to find me, eyes wide, proud as anything, and announced: "Mommy, I was just being resourceful." His toy car had rolled under the fridge. He tried the broom. He tried the mop. The fly swatter is what finally worked and he found another car under there he thought he had lost.In this episode, I'm using that moment to walk you through what affirmations actually do. Not the fluffy version. The clinical one.I'll tell you how my kids ended up saying "I am resourceful" every night, what changed when I started repeating the affirmations back during the day, and what that has to do with you, doc — because this isn't a parenting episode. This is about the instructions you've been giving your own subconscious without realizing it, and what shifts when you decide on purpose. What you'll walk away with:Why your brain takes your I-am statements as instructions, even when you don't believe them yetThe reason repetition has to come before the meaning landsHow to reinforce an affirmation in real life so it stops being words and becomes behaviorThe one small homework assignment for this week — pick one, say it out loud, say it in the mirror if you want to get fancyHomework: One I-am statement. Out loud. Every day. That's it.Listen if: you've ever rolled your eyes at affirmations, you've tried them and quit because they felt like lying, or you want to know what's actually happening in your brain when you repeat the same sentence on purpose. What did you think of the episode, doc? Toya Kaplan and Kristina Kutemeyer with For the One join ABQ Connect to discuss the organization's BE THE HERO initiative, an educational outreach focused on preventing child sexual exploitation in schools, families, churches, and communities. The conversation explains how predators target children both online and in person, common misconceptions parents may have, early warning signs adults should recognize, and practical steps families can take to protect and empower children without creating fear. Toya and Kristina also share For the One's vision for the BE THE HERO outreach in Albuquerque, their upcoming conference in Santa Fe, available parent resources, and ways listeners can volunteer, support, or help connect For the One with schools, teachers, childcare programs, churches, and community leaders. Au pair travel comes up in the groups every single week, and it's usually a horror story. The awkward silences, the au pair completely checked out, the vacation that didn't feel like a vacation.I did this episode because I think a lot of that drama is avoidable, and I want to share how we do it.But before you book that extra ticket, you need to answer a few questions honestly. Is this a trip or a vacation?Do you actually want childcare, or do you just feel like you should bring them? And do you know this person well enough to travel with them at all?I'm breaking down exactly how my family handles travel with an au pair: From setting work expectations before you leave, to giving dedicated time off so your au pair can go explore, to the seating arrangement on the plane that changed everything. (Yes, I'm going to tell you to go sit somewhere else. Trust me on this one.)This one is practical and direct, and it's full of the kind of clarity that makes the difference between a vacation and a very expensive, very stressful trip.In this episode:Vacation vs. trip; and why that distinction matters before anything elseWhen to bring your au pair and when to leave them home (both are valid)How to communicate work hours, flexible schedules, and travel days upfrontWhy dedicated time off during a work trip benefits everyoneThe plane seating arrangement I swear byYou worked hard for this vacation. Hey Doc,I just got back from ACOG and I'm still on a high!I went mainly to hear Michelle Obama speak and she did not disappoint. But what surprised me most was how deeply aligned her message was with everything I talk about here on Stethoscopes and Strollers. This wasn't some polished keynote speech full of inspirational fluff. It felt like sitting in on a private conversation between two accomplished Black women talking honestly about identity, confidence, womanhood, and what it takes to stay grounded in a world that constantly tries to tell women — especially Black women — who we should be.And the whole time I kept thinking:“Oh. This is exactly what I've been trying to help physician moms understand.”We talked about:Why confidence actually comes from knowing yourself deeplyHow long it can take to truly trust yourselfThe danger of shrinking your accomplishments to make other people comfortableWhy some people not connecting with you is not automatically a “you” problemHow motherhood and life transitions force you to confront who you really areThe importance of celebrating yourself unapologeticallyLearning to trust your knowing instead of overriding it with practicality or people-pleasingAlso… I found out Michelle Obama is 62 and now I need somebody to explain the sorcery immediately.Hearing someone at her level speak so openly about groundedness, self-trust, and identity felt incredibly validating. Especially as physician moms navigating careers, motherhood, marriage, leadership, ambition, and all the invisible expectations sitting on top of us every single day.If you've been questioning yourself…If you've been minimizing yourself…If you've been waiting for permission to trust your instincts…This conversation is for you.Press play, Doc.What did you think of the episode, doc? Hey Doc,I'm on my way to DC!My first home in this country. Howard. All of it.I'm going to ACOG's ACSM, our national meeting, which is funny, because I don't practice anymore. But this work I do with physician moms is rooted in the same transitions we see every day in medicine.Last year I went for physician wellbeing. This year, Michelle Obama is there, so… clearly I'm going. Also, it's my son's birthday weekend so I'm bringing the kids, there's a party, and yes—there will be a spa day. This episode is a little life update, a little reflection, and a reminder:You don't have to choose one version of yourself.Press play. What did you think of the episode, doc? Hey Doc,If you've ever said, “I just need more help,” and then somehow ended up more overwhelmed… this episode is for you.Because the problem usually isn't that you don't have help. It's that you're delegating the wrong things… in the wrong order… without a system. So now you've got someone managing tasks that probably shouldn't exist in the first place, while the things that would actually make your life easier are still sitting on your plate.I see this all the time with woman physicians. You finally decide to get support—maybe it's an assistant, childcare, or help at home—and instead of relief, you feel frustrated. Now you're paying someone… and still tired. In this episode, I walk you through how to actually delegate your life in a way that gives you your time, energy, and brain space back. Not just shifting tasks around. Not just “getting help.”But building a system that works for you. We're starting with what most people skip, and why that's exactly why delegation fails.Inside this episode:Why “just hire help” is incomplete advice (and often a waste of money)The first step you must take before delegating anythingHow to identify tasks that should be deleted vs. delegatedWhat to automate first (especially in the era of AI)How to stop paying people to do things no one needed to do in the first placeThis is the work that makes everything else easier.Less mental load.Less resentment.Less “why am I still doing all of this?”More clarity.More efficiency.More space to actually live your life.Because you didn't work this hard to spend your evenings organizing email folders no one will ever open again.
Hey Doc,Let's talk about something that sounds simple… but clearly is not.You are allowed to change your mind.I say that, and I already know some of you are side-eyeing me like, “Okay… but it's not that easy.”I know. I know it's not.Because in medicine, we don't pivot. We commit. We decide and then we stick with it.Even when life changes.Even when we change.Especially after motherhood.I see this all the time.Dr. So-and-so used to want the big cases, the leadership roles, the titles, the prestige. Now? She wants to go to work, do her job well, and be home by 3 to sit on the floor with her babies. And instead of feeling clear about that… she feels guilty.Like she's betraying the version of herself who worked so hard to get here.Like she's letting someone down: her mentors, her colleagues… or honestly, just herself. So in this episode, we're getting into that tension. Not in a fluffy “just follow your heart” kind of way.But in a real, grounded way that actually applies to your life right now.We talk about:Why it feels so hard to change your mind as a physician momThe guilt that shows up when your priorities shiftThe difference between “becoming a different person” vs actually evolvingWhy your old goals don't have to define your current decisionsAnd how to give yourself permission to want something different without spiraling about itBecause let me be very clear about something:Wanting a different life now does not erase who you were.It means you've lived enough to know what actually matters to you. That's not failure. That's growth. And if you're sitting there trying to force yourself to want the same things you wanted at 28…Yeah. We're not doing that anymore. If this hits a little too close to home (which it probably does),go ahead and press play.
Hey DocI had a moment recently that stopped me in my tracks. My kids were heading out for a full day—something fun, something special—and I wasn't there. And instead of guilt?I felt peace. Gratitude. Relief. Not because I don't want to be with them. But because I know they are well cared for, loved, and having a full, joyful experience, even when I'm not the one making it happen. In this episode, I'm talking about what it looks like to build a life that actually works with support. We get into:Why the right childcare supports you, instead of replacing youWhat it can look like when your kids are cared for and you can focus on your workThe shift from “this won't work for me” to “how could this work?”Why so many physician moms hesitate to invest in help, and what that hesitation is costingIf you've been telling yourself that getting help isn't an option, I want you to at least pause and question that. There may be more possibilities than you've allowed yourself to consider.
Hey Doc —Doctor's Day can feel… underwhelming.A small gesture. A generic message. Maybe a reminder that you're appreciated, without anything actually changing. And for a lot of physicians, that disconnect doesn't go unnoticed. In this episode, I'm sharing a different kind of Doctor's Day message. Not about what you received, but about how you see yourself inside the system you work in.We get into:Why external appreciation often falls short (and what actually matters more)How physicians underestimate their own leverageWhat it looks like to advocate for yourself at a higher levelThe shift from waiting to be valued → to operating like you already areThis is a short episode, but it's an important one.Because how you think about your value shows up in your decisions, your negotiations, and what you tolerate.
Toya really edits when she feels like it, but that thing...BITES BACK!
Hey Doc —This is Part 2 of my conversation with Dr. Traci De Splinter, an OB/GYN here in Texas and a seasoned physician mom whose daughters are now adults. In Part 1, we talked about what it looked like for her to have a baby during residency and navigate some incredibly difficult years early in her career. In this part of our conversation, we move forward in the story.Dr. Traci shares what life looked like raising two young daughters while practicing medicine as a single mom—and the decisions she made along the way to make that life work.We talk about:How she navigated single motherhood while practicing OB-GYNThe childcare decisions that helped her manage a demanding medical careerWhy she chose predictability in her schedule during her daughters' early yearsThe reality of mom guilt—and how her daughters actually saw it differentlyWhat it looked like to prioritize being present for the moments that mattered mostDr. Traci also shares the perspective that only comes with time: what she might do differently, what she's most proud of, and the advice she would give physician moms who are currently raising young children while building their careers. And we talk about the exciting next chapter of her professional life as she prepares to open a practice focused on caring for midlife women. This is an honest conversation about motherhood, medicine, guilt, support systems, and the long arc of raising children while practicing in a demanding profession.

Hey Doc —This is a conversation I've really been looking forward to sharing with you.I'm joined by Dr. Traci De Splinter, an OB/GYN here in Texas and a seasoned physician mom whose daughters are now adults. I love conversations like this because most of the physician moms I talk to in this podcast are in the thick of early motherhood—myself included. There is something really powerful about hearing from someone who has lived through those years and can reflect back on them with perspective. And Dr. Traci has quite a story. In this first part of our conversation, we talk about what it looked like for her to have her first baby during residency, the realities of postpartum recovery while still in training, and the decisions physician moms often have to make around timing pregnancies and careers. We also talk about:What maternity leave looked like during residency years agoRecovering from a difficult delivery while preparing to return to workThe importance of asking for help—even when it feels uncomfortableMoving to a new city with a toddler while pregnant againWhat life looked like when her marriage ended shortly after starting her attending careerDr. Traci shares honestly about some very hard years—two babies under two, a new job, a new city, and navigating life as a physician mom. She also talks about the support systems that helped her through that season and the lessons she carries with her now. This conversation is thoughtful, candid, and full of perspective that many physician moms rarely get to hear.

Hey Doc —There's something I see over and over again when I work with physician moms. You've achieved incredible things. Medical school. Residency. Building a career. Raising children. Holding together entire ecosystems of people who depend on you.And yet, when I ask you to name something you're proud of?Silence.Or you brush it off.Or you immediately pivot to the next thing you still need to accomplish. In this episode, I'm talking about why celebrating yourself can feel surprisingly difficult for high achievers—and why that matters more than most of us realize.A recent conversation with a very successful business owner reminded me just how common this pattern is. Even after building something objectively impressive, he still struggled to recognize his own success. And honestly? The mindset sounded very familiar. Many of us were trained to keep pushing, keep achieving, keep delaying satisfaction until the next milestone. But if you never learn how to recognize your wins now, the next milestone won't fix it.In this episode, I'm sharing:How constantly chasing the “next thing” can quietly drain your sense of fulfillmentWhy high achievers often struggle to acknowledge their accomplishmentsThe connection between celebrating your wins and building real confidenceWhy modeling self-celebration matters for the way our children learn to see themselvesPractical ways to start recognizing your wins—even if it feels uncomfortable at firstCelebration doesn't have to mean a party or a big announcement.Sometimes it's simply taking a moment to acknowledge what you've done and allowing yourself to feel proud. If you don't build the habit of recognizing your wins now, you may keep achieving more… and still feel like it's never enough.
We have a very hilarious conversation with the stunning Toya the Truth. On this episode Toya opens up about:

It will humble you real quick.I've been nauseous before networking meetings.Sweaty before introducing myself.Mortified after asking a very basic question at a major conference. And I still did it.Because here's the truth I keep teaching my clients, and living in real time:The absence of fear is not required. You do not need to feel ready. You do not need to feel confident. You do not need to feel calm. You just need to move.In this episode, I'm sharing:What “doing it scared” actually looks like in real life (hint: it's not glamorous)Why embarrassment isn't fatal (even when it feels like it)The myth that confident women aren't afraidHow I'm teaching my children that bravery includes tearsWhy waiting to feel ready is keeping you stuckIf you've been avoiding something — a leadership role, a career pivot, a hard conversation, a negotiation — I want you to hear this:Being scared does not disqualify you.Fear is not a stop sign. It's usually a sign you're stepping into something bigger.Listen in, and then go do the thing.
Hey Doc,What do you do when everything looks “successful” on paper… but you're not actually satisfied? In Part 2 of my conversation with Dr. Gina Dapul-Hidalgo — allergist, CEO, twin mom — we talk about the season that doesn't get discussed enough. The one where you've done everything right. You trained. You built the career. You became the mom.And yet… something feels off.Dr. Gina shares what it was like to realize she wasn't fulfilled and to invest in herself before she had proof it would work.We talk about:The quiet dissatisfaction that creeps in after training endsMaking a “scary” financial investment in coachingDiscovering limiting beliefs she didn't even know were running the showHow being an IMG shaped her confidence, and how she dismantled that narrativeWhy she started taking 24–48 hours away each year (yes, with twins at home)And what it really means to bet on yourself as a physician momThis conversation is about ownership.Owning your brilliance.Owning your dissatisfaction.Owning your need for support.Owning your ambition, especially after motherhood.

Hey Doc,What happens when you're pregnant with twins, working full-time, and living in a city with no family nearby? In this first part of my conversation with Dr. Gina Dapul-Hidalgo, board-certified pediatric and adult allergist, private practice CEO, and twin mom, we go back to the beginning. Before the CEO title. Before the older-kid stage.Back to the pregnancy. The delivery. The five-week postpartum return to work.Dr. Gina shares what it was like to carry twins to 38 weeks, build a life far from home, and realize in real time that there wasn't going to be a built-in village waiting. We talk about the intentional decision she and her husband made to spend those first few days alone with their newborns, not because help wasn't offered, but because they wanted to figure out who they were as parents first. She opens up about:Going back to work before her body had fully recoveredNavigating postpartum when your career doesn't pauseWhat partnership actually looked like at 2:30 a.m. with two crying babiesAnd the quiet identity shifts that show up in things as small as swapping heels for flatsWhether you're pregnant now, in the thick of postpartum, or long past the newborn phase but still navigating the weight of motherhood + medicine, this story will feel familiar in the best way.
It's time to plan the glamorous Med Ball on Married to Medicine and it's such an esteemed, important even that they've put…Toya in charge. Hm. In other news, Jackie has ripped off newbie Angel's scrub fashion idea and has zero remorse about it. This should be fun. This morning, I present significant weather developments across Alaska and the contiguous United States, particularly highlighting the blizzard and winter weather advisories issued by the National Weather Service. As we navigate through perilous travel conditions and potential whiteout scenarios, it is imperative to remain vigilant, especially in areas affected by strong southerly winds and gusts reaching up to 70 mph in Southern California. Additionally, I will provide an overview of recent seismic activity, which remains minimal, with a recorded minor earthquake near Toya, Texas, that has not resulted in any reported damage. We will also discuss the updated assistance information from FEMA regarding Hurricane Helene, urging survivors to review program details and impending deadlines. Throughout this briefing, we shall continue to monitor and relay active alerts and official updates to ensure public safety and preparedness.Takeaways:* The National Weather Service has issued blizzard warnings for various regions in Alaska, indicating severe weather conditions.* California is experiencing strong southerly winds that may lead to downed limbs and hazardous travel for high-profile vehicles.* FEMA has updated its Hurricane Helene assistance page, providing essential information for survivors seeking support.* New York is under winter weather advisories due to lake effect snow, impacting travel and road conditions significantly today.* A minor earthquake was recorded in Texas, though no significant damage or impacts were reported in the area.* Active weather alerts will be monitored throughout the day to ensure public safety and awareness.Sources[NWS San Diego | https://kesq.com/weather/alerts-weather/2026/02/11/high-wind-warning-issued-february-11-at-324am-pst-until-february-11-at-100pm-pst-by-nws-san-diego-ca/][NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard — Watches/Warnings | https://www.weather.gov/lox/][NWS Fairbanks — DSS Winter | https://www.weather.gov/afg/dsswinter][NWS Juneau — Hazards | https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=59.6702&lon=-135.5379][NWS Buffalo — Advisory | https://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?product1=Winter+Weather+Advisory&warnzone=NYZ006][NWS Albany — Advisory | https://www.weather.gov/aly/winterheadlines][USGS Latest Earthquakes | https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/] This is a public episode. On this week's video episode, Dylan sits down with Married to Medicine's Dr. Heavenly to unpack why this season has felt heavier and more difficult than any of her past ones, including her very bold take on her “perfect” marriage with Dr. Damon. She claps back at Quad and Gizelle Bryant's comments on WWHL and says that, like her, Gizelle just likes to talk. Then she addresses her relationship with Toya and makes it clear she's not entertaining the disrespect. Plus, she reacts to Dr. Simone weighing in on her run for Congress, shares why she chose forgiveness while Simone is dealing with a lot, and closes by laying out exactly what she wants to do in office and why she thinks you should vote for her. This is a reimagined “I Have A Dream” speech as a rage anthem. We have to shift the energy from "hopeful persistence" to "righteous, explosive fury." So here is my hip-hop version of a call to reflection. The dream won't die, we will fiercely defend it. I HAVE A DREAM—that you're terrified! I HAVE A DREAM—that your hate has died! I HAVE A DREAM—that the truth will sting! LET FREEDOM RING! LET FREEDOM RING! LET. FREEDOM. RING! From the red hills! RING! From the snow caps! RING! From every village! From every state! We're drowning out the sound of your ancient hate! FREE AT LAST! FREE AT LAST! GOD ALMIGHTY, WE'RE TAKING IT BACK! I just dropped "I was the 80" on Spotify, Apple, and wherever you listen to music!!! I remember the 80/20 rule in Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? This was a powerful relationship metaphor to explain why people often cheat and leave good partners. The 80 is what you need. That 20 is what you want. I am the 80, we are the 80. I firmly believe that we are in a new age and it's age of Aquarius. It's all about sovereignty, frequency, and interconnectedness. We're moving from the Piscean age, when we relied on external authority and reactive medicine. Now it's my responsibility to manage my own vibration and use nature to help me heal. Dayumm!! The Black Dante' is fire!!! I have the honor of reading The Count of Monte Cristo, which is more than an adventure. It's an epic that mirrors the tumultuous life of the creator, Alexander Dumas. He just didn't write about a man seeking justice. He wrote from the perspective of a man whose own family had been elevated by a revolution and raised by restoration. Real HW and MM Angel Angel Angel-This trip is not for this show. Jassi with the BS. Playin' chess, and making them pay for not making her full time. Tia, girl. Staci Rush is killing it by being her own weird self Wendy, morphing into herself, no weave, and reading the girls for filth! Giselle go off—> Ashley, sit your stinkin' feet down. M-T-M All the black folks are confusing me Why does Toya hate Quad? Oh yeah, Quad has everything, fan favorite has King and Toya still spinning and not happy. Why does Toya hate Dr. Mimi? It's giving insecure Why is Toya beefing with Heavenly? Seasonal Affective Disorder Is Treatable, and please don't suffer in silence. This is a joyous season, and sometimes we have to make a concerted effort to find the joy. I find mine by reading writing and commenting on my favorite movies. Some need more help to get that focus. Toya tries to get some drama going with Heavenly on Married To Medicine, and this time it's at a “make your own purse” party. Heavenly is going to be president soon, so she doesn't give Toya too much energy, but hey. We got a lot of really hideous purses out of it! Toya and Eugene fight at their own party on this week's Married To Medicine. Don't worry. It turns out it's Heavenly's fault. Ah well. What a waste of a Hobby Lobby cherry blossom tree. Toya Bush Harris joins Lip Service for a candid, unfiltered conversation about marriage, motherhood, and life in the public eye. From celebrating her birthday with the hosts to opening up about her long-running marriage to Dr. Eugene Harris, Toya gets real about the highs, the challenges, and the misconceptions that come with being on reality TV. She directly addresses viral cheating rumors that spread online, explaining how false stories about secret babies, DNA tests, and divorce filings impacted her family—and why she and Eugene initially laughed before the rumors crossed a line. Toya also responds to ongoing marriage criticism, sharing why she refuses to apologize for having a supportive husband and a partnership built on communication, trust, and growth. Throughout the episode, Toya reflects on her upbringing, past relationships, celibacy before marriage, raising teenage sons, and how reality TV has functioned as an unexpected form of therapy in her relationship. She also discusses the pressure of public judgment, cast dynamics on Married to Medicine, and why being authentic—flaws and all—matters more than pleasing the internet. This episode is funny, honest, and deeply personal—showing Toya beyond the headlines and reminding listeners that not everything they read online is true.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Married To Medicine is back, and in a shocking turn of events, the season begins with Dr. Simone and Quad feuding. At this point, the whole cast is sick of it, but that's sort of what makes it funny. Plus, Heavenly is missing in action, Toya has allegations, and a new crop of cast members is ready to stir the pot. So far so good!
