Izzy Rock loves movies. In this podcast, he sits in on a gem City Podcast episode with co-hosts Libby Ballengee and Mark DaGrossa as they chat movies with Film Speak creator Bill Miller. Of course I do an intro and recap my week. Some of the things discussed. The Claypool Lennon Delirium - Monolith of Phobos Canopy in the Backyard Podcast with Brad Denson from MVMF Orange Is The New Black GOT finale Lil Dicky Cooking The Sound In Oneâ??s Head- Worship the Simple You Izzy, Libby, and Mark had fun talking about film with Bill Miller, who also happens to be our newest crew member! Bill Miller was born in Dayton a child of the seventies. Discovering his love of film at a young age Bill soon knew he was a film dork, but it wasnâ??t until he saw Pulp Fiction that Bill knew he wanted to be a filmmaker. Over the next twenty years through marriage, cross country moves, kids, divorce and all the other stuff life throws at you Bill studied filmmaking and watched more movies then what is probably healthy. A few years ago after another dead end job ended he decided if he was going to struggle and scrape to survive then he was going to do it being a filmmaker. Adopting the nom de plume of JB (Just Bill) Bill began to work within the local film community. Now a few years later Bill has gained lots of experience having worked on dozens of projects at different capacities and is seeking distribution for his own feature. Bill, or JB, has a local film talk show Film Speak and YouTube channel under his production house name Burnmill. Bill has a desire to see Dayton become the filmmaking capital of the Midwest, and showcase the wonderful talent in the area. I attended a night of music on Friday Feb 19. First I went to Yellow Cab Tavern for SKRT, the Zygotes, and Manray. The Zygotes and Manray were both releasing new music to the packed all ages show. Then I headed to Blind Bobs for the bands Gay Black Republicans, the Involuntarys, Duderus, and Grand Mammoth. On Sat Feb 20, the crew went to the 2016 Independent Creators Expo and Film Festival at the Crowne Plaza in Downtown dayton. We recorded content to be released later, and we also released an episode of Epic and the Beard. This one will be called Izzy and the Beard After the Independent Creators Expo, I went to W.O. Wrights in Fairborn, Ohio for the Violent Kind, Swimming With Sharks, Good English, and Nightbeast Izzy Rock and Mark DaGrossa recorded this two part episode at the Montessori School of Dayton for the 2016 Dayton Brew HaHa. "The Dayton Brew Ha-Ha is an annual fundraiser for the Montessori School of Dayton. The event started in 2011 and raises funds for the school?s capital improvement fund. Although each year has seen exponential growth, we are committed to maintaining the event as a premier boutique beer tasting, where residents of our community can come to mingle, try regional and local beers, and learn more about the school and about craft beer. Our beers have always had a regional focus. Previous iterations have seen offerings from the Great Lake States, as well as a Michigan vs. Ohio showdown (2014) and Daytonâ??s first All Ohio tasting (2015). In 2016, they returned to their Midwestern roots, showcasing the best our region has to offer."
