It’s ICECO Month, and they brought in the right guy for it. David from ICECO says that after COVID changed everything. Like a lot of people, he went outside, went wheeling, and ended up pivoting his whole career around it. Now he’s working with a brand that started in OEM refrigeration — manufacturing the internals that go inside other companies’ products — before expanding into the outdoor and overlanding space. That OEM history matters because it’s where the technology comes from. ICECO runs SECOP compressors, which articulate up to 40 degrees without throwing an error — something Jimmy can personally relate to after loading a competitor’s fridge into his truck and watching it fault out. The conversation goes well past compressor specs. David and Tyler get into the framing that stuck with Jimmy most by the end: a fridge isn’t a recreational product that you also use at home — it’s a lifestyle tool that you bring with you. Jimmy’s been using a small fridge for grocery runs with his wife. She loads the car fridge first, doesn’t have to make the store her last stop, and comes home when she feels like it. That’s not overlanding. That’s just Tuesday. And it opened up a whole line of thinking about how the technology is circling back to everyday life after coming through the outdoor market. 868 He Had To Pass Through Samaria, A Guided Christian Meditation on John 4:1-4 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in  and connect with the true source of peace, Jesus Christ.  Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization.  You can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes.You should hopefully not be driving or anything tense or unrelaxing.  If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes.   Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation:   Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate,  deflate. Scripture for Meditation John 4 KJV 4 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, 2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) 3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. 4 And he must needs go through Samaria. NASB 4 So then, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that He was making and baptizing more disciples than John 2 (although Jesus Himself was not baptizing; rather, His disciples were), 3 He left Judea and went away again to Galilee. 4 And He had to pass through Samaria Reflection on Scripture: I find the framing of this chapter interesting. Because the Pharisees knew Jesus had gained many disciples it seems he was forced to leave and additionally forced to travel through Samaria, which we will explore in coming weeks. This is an interesting way to phrase it and it can give an interesting idea for what was an imperative for Jesus. In the strictest sense Jesus did not have to do anything. Jehovah did not have to create the universe or anything else after that. These things are consistent with God's character and therefore God chooses them. The only way that God would not choose those things is if he did not have his current character. With that said none of that makes it a foregone conclusion for what God has to do. Perhaps this is very obvious but it is worth pondering on for a moment.  God is certainly able to determine His guiding ethics and it is far above human understanding to tell God what he has to do. It is something of a ridiculous notion that the Pharisees could force Jesus to do anything. Even when he was on the cusp of being sent to death, Jesus told Peter he could have called down legions of angels to do His bidding and chose not to. There is literally nothing that the Pharisees could have done, that you could do, that I could do, that would force God to do something that He didn't already determine that He should do.  With that said, once God determines to do something, he lays out a plan on what is needed for that to happen, and then he does it. Before the foundation of the earth God determined that Jesus would come to save us all. So when this moment arrived Jesus planned to go to Samaria and talk to the woman at the well. To make that happen he traveled through Samaria consistent with His intent and as such he HAD to go through Samaria. Just as God has executed His actions through all history he continues to do the same for you in yoru life right now. He has given you the exact life you need, to be challenged sufficiently Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. by UFO History Buff & Author, Charles Lear In the early years of the flying saucer/UFO mystery, magazines played a significant part in the public perception of the phenomenon. One of the most popular magazines in that era was LIFE, which started covering saucer/UFO news at the very beginning during the 1947 summer of the saucers. For anyone interested in the early history of the phenomenon, Archives for the Unexplained has a collection of related magazine articles which includes LIFE articles from 1947 t0 1966.In the article published in the July 1947 issue headlined “Speaking of Pictures… a Rash of Flying Disks Breaks Out Over the U.S.,” it is lamented that none of the many saucers seen that summer paused long enough to get its picture taken. There are pictures, however, of two fake saucers: one an obvious saw blade with what looks to be a capacitor attached to it held up by Reverend Joseph Brasky who claimed it hit the lightning rod of his church with an explosion, and the other an aluminum disk with what looks to be spent fireworks attached held up by a man from Shreveport, Louisiana, who said it flew out from behind a signboard. Read more →CONTACT AND SUPPORT

Lured Up Podcast 396 Live Streamed on - 6/9/2026 Publish Date - 6/12/2026 To all the new listeners: WELCOME and THANK YOU for checking out LURED UP! We are back home from GO Fest Chicago and we are both in agreement that this was the best IRL GO Fest that we have ever attended. There is plenty to unpack to back up our sentiment, beginning with how the introduction of different gameplay “Districts” put you right into the gameplay, as soon as you stepped off the plane. It was an amazing feeling to have the event come to life as soon as arriving in Chicago, and the barrage of geo-based Timed Research kept Trainers tied to their games as the grind through a flurry of tasks. Even moving from the airport to our hotel kept us immersed in the game, making the gameboard come to life. If really make Trainers feel like they were looking at an in-game world map at their feet. The geo fencing of districts paired with associated Timed Research had players covering a serious amount of territory. If this is any indication of how IRL events can curate and shape real life gameplay behaviors, than this is just the tip of a very exciting iceberg. We had a full weekend of gameplay, including countless Raids and an insane amount of walking. Both of our Adventure Sync numbers were above 120km. In typical Lured Up fashion, we had stuff going on all weekend. On Friday nights we hosted our meetup at Monk's Pub, the same place as our 2019 meetup. You all SHOWED UP and we had double the turnout than we expected, and we are so grateful to have been able to spend time with all of you. Next year we will need a new venue! Saturday night was Adam's idea, with a Pokémon themed Pop-Punk night. All of the bands on the bill were incredible, with Midway Down headlining and absolutely brought the house down. It was so much fun to hang with the community in that setting. We will absolutely be incorporating live music/entertainment into our plans next year! Finally on Friday we met up with our good friend JT Valor for a final push of Raids at the end of the weekend. In typical Raid Train Fashion, we ended up picking up Trainers at every stop. It was VERY cool to see JT in action. He gives so much of himself to his fans and spends heaps of time with everyone. JT's combination of hardcore gameplay, travel, and approachability is PGO video content at its best. In typical live-service fashion, it seemed that about as soon as we stepped on the airplane to come home, new news was dropping about the events happening through the end of the month. Jimmy and Tyler are back from very different weekends that somehow both ended the same way: hanging out with people you don’t see enough, doing stuff you love, and getting home before dark. Tyler took his toddler, Reid, out on the Rubicon for the first time, joining the Mad Hatters’ annual run at Loon. The trip came with an unexpected education: when you normally run sweep, you get out at every stop and help people. When you’re strapped to the car with a two-year-old, you’re sitting in the driver’s seat watching everyone else work for 15-minute stretches while your kid starts losing patience. By the time the group reached Spider Bowl around 10:30 am, Tyler pulled off at a campsite, radioed a goodbye, had lunch, and watched a Toyota pickup spend 30 minutes trying and failing to get up Super Bowl while Reid stood in the bed pointing at things and making everyone laugh. Two hours there, then out solo with Reid in the front seat, the air compressor cycling the rear locker, and Reid looking over every time to announce “dad tooting.” Home before 4 pm. Left at 5 am. Not a bad day. Jimmy left the assistant on her last day of school and drove up to dispersed camping near Bowman Road off Highway 20 — a trip organized around a group of high school friends he doesn’t see nearly enough, some of whom he hasn’t camped with in years. They came with trucks, a rooftop tent, a box of whiskey, handguns, a .22 rifle, Brandon’s breakfast burritos, and a set of homemade medallion awards for the weekend’s various competitions. The competitions included a shooting match (7 shooters, 10 rounds apiece at three stations — 210 shots hit paper across the board, which Jimmy found genuinely impressive), forest bocce (where bocce balls bounce off rocks and go 90 degrees), and a campfire tending category. Jimmy got fourth in the shooting competition, first in fire. He also got shot, sort of — a ricochet fragment hit one of the guys in the shoulder and another in the shin, both minor, first aid kits came out, everyone reevaluated, then they ran the formal shooting competition anyway. The guy who got hit (Michael — friend of a friend, first time meeting) turned out to be a serious whiskey person. Jimmy is also a serious whiskey person. Neither of them knew the other was bringing four bottles. They spent hours trading sips and talking. It was a great trip. They’re making it annual. Oceano Dunes at Pismo Beach is the only place in California where you can legally drive on the beach. For over 25 years, Jim Suty and Friends of Oceana Dunes have been fighting to keep it that way. Jimmy and Tyler sit down with Jim to talk about what’s happening now — and what’s been happening for a long time. This one covers a lot of ground. Jim walks through the history of the snowy plover fight that started around 2001, the dust pollution battle that took center stage around 2019–2020, and the new issue that’s surfaced after all of that: SVR (the State Vehicular Recreation Area that manages the dunes) never completed the Incidental Take Permit for the snowy plover that should have been finalized as part of the original mitigation. The ITP is the document that allows recreation to continue in habitat where an endangered species is present, provided land managers mitigate impact to acceptable levels. Without it, the dunes are exposed. And because SVR was always reacting to the next crisis — the next budget cut, the next complaint from the Coastal Commission, the next thing coming down from the state level — the ITP kept getting pushed down the priority list until it didn’t get done. Jimmy and Tyler dig into why this keeps happening — turnover in land manager leadership, no consistent long-term relationships with the local OHV community, a reactive management culture that never gets ahead of anything. The parallels to what Jimmy and Tyler see with El Dorado National Forest, Tahoe National Forest, and the Rubicon are everywhere. The dust fight is a good-news story worth hearing in full. During COVID, when the dunes were closed and no OHVs were running, Friends of Oceana Dunes commissioned studies that showed the dust particulate in the town of Oceano was not being caused by OHV activity on the dunes. The science that the APCD and the Coastal Commission had been using to justify closures and restrictions was wrong. Friends of Oceana Dunes fought it in court, won, and the APCD was ruled to have been incorrect — with money that had been spent on dust mitigation going back toward recreational purposes. Tyler and Jimmy hold this up as exactly what litigation looks like when it works. On where the money needs to come from: Tyler makes the argument that $20 to a litigation organization like Friends of Oceana Dunes or Blue Ribbon Coalition does more long-term work than $20 to a trail maintenance volunteer fund. Both matter. But if you can only pick one, he argues the scale is in favor of litigation. The numbers are striking — Jim mentions that 1.5 to 2.5 million people visit Oceana Dunes per year. If every one of them gave a quarter, Friends of Oceana Dunes would have a $500K–$750K operating budget. That’s how underfunded these organizations are relative to the scale of the impact they’re having. You will put these articles on your sons and daughters—thus you will plunder Egypt!" Reflection on Scripture: Human ethics are not complete. For hundreds of years the Israelites had been oppressed. None of those past people saw relief in this life. Similarly in the time of Jesus, many Jews were persecuted as well as early Christians. Additionally there are people who suffer around the world, some of them children. In our human ethics this can be very difficult. Yet I think this presents a problem of perspective and what life is. With this perspective many people could argue that life isnt fair. If we consider this human life to be the totality of life then any discomfort during that time is injustice indeed. I am in the military and have had very unpleasant training periods. Additionally I asked a Marine recently if he thought that Marine Corps boot camp was fair, he did not understand the framing of the question. It didnt matter if it was fair was his response. It is very physically demanding and full of suffering but the framing of this experience in his mind was not about it being fair or not because he was doing it for the end result of going where he wanted to go in the USMC.  If we consider this life as a training period for us then it changes our whole ethical framework. Marine Corps boot camp was not designed to be comfortable nor was this life. So it is not a failure if it is not comfortable. The real question is, does it move us to what we need to move toward. For example for early Christians who were murdered for their faith, their ethics would be different. For example when they are in the presence of God for all eternity I seriously doubt that they will consider their lives to have been unfair.  In this scripture we see that God will eventually reconcile His children. He will avenge us of wrongs done to us with His mighty arm. He will forgive our wrongs if we come to Him with His power of grace. Not only that he will reward us for going through these challenges. We will be blessed beyond our understanding for the hardship we go through. This compensation the people received also allowed them to create a beautiful tabernacle unto the Lord. Trust that the Lord will reward every injustice in His way, not ours. Praise God that we will be judged according to His ethics and not our own.  Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him.
