God's loyal love is fully redeeming our marriage relationships. Jesus calls us into deep covenant commitment while protecting the vulnerable, especially women, in these covenant relationships.
God intended marriage to be permanent, but sinful man turned it into permissive divorce for any reason.
Our adventures in the Sermon on the Mount continue as we enter the sensitive territory of vows and divorce. Just as the maxim of "location, location, location" holds true in the world of real estate, "context, context, context" is essential when it comes to understanding the meaning of a passage. Join us this week as we dive headfirst into topics that are critical for our call to be Salt and Light in this world.
In this last part of our One Flesh series on biblical chastity, marriage, divorce, adultery, and remarriage we go through some of the more frequently asked questions relating to these topics such as: What is the Biblical definition of sex? If I live with someone and view them as my spouse, does that mean we are Biblically married? Can women divorce their husbands according to the Bible? If a man cheating on his wife is not “technically” considered adultery, how do you explain Mark chapter 10? If a woman was divorced for an illegitimate reason, and marries another, should she divorce her second husband? and more!
In part 3 of our One Flesh teaching about Biblical Chastity, Marriage, and Divorce, we take a closer look at the topics of divorce and remarriage. What exactly is divorce, when is it permitted, and are people who have been divorced allowed to marry again?
