Cut to our favorite amateur sleuths, who are discussing the case. Liam tells them what he knows so far: a dog found the frozen body while out in the woods with its owners. The victim's name was Katherine, and she was very well known in her community and part of an influential school board. A woman named Sharon was arrested for the murder, but her husband believes she was wrongfully convicted. Meanwhile, in class, they're learning about the law of retaliation. I'm sure that won't become relevant at all. The team starts reviewing police interviews with other school board members and quickly realizes basically everyone hated Sharon. So they go talk to her, and she explains that the board members were nothing more than high school bullies — especially the board president, Katherine. Sharon had even threatened to sue Katherine for emotional distress shortly before Katherine was found dead. Naturally, the gang decides to take the case. They eventually uncover enough evidence to convince a judge to reopen the investigation. From there, the crew keeps digging — tracking down DNA evidence, getting jumped from behind, climbing into wells…you know, all the stuff the police probably should've already done. Eventually, they piece it all together: the head of the school board had sent her husband to confront Sharon and tell her to stop accusing their child of bullying Sharon's kid. One thing led to another, and he ended up killing Katherine. Then the board president arrived and helped cover it all up. Honestly, she confesses pretty quickly once they corner her. At the inevitable “we caught a murderer” celebration party, Casey and Eli have a moment and almost kissssss! But of course, Benjamin Ayres interrupts the vibe with a toast to the justice warriors. Pastor Sam Rainer preaches a series about the most popular verses in the Bible and why they are often misinterpreted. This sermon covers Deuteronomy 19:21. In the Old Testament, the“eye for an eye” laws helped to limit vengeance and ensure proportional justice. In the New Testament, Jesus teaches us to “turn the other cheek,” in which good overcomes evil.

Here's where this war stands tonight. Nearly two weeks into this conflict, the official story is already cracking and the number of Americans wounded is slowly coming out. Yesterday we reported based on our sources that the number of American wounded was at least 137... Well after our report ran last night the Pentagon has now publicly acknowledge about 140 wounded. That confirms our sources on this. So why did it take a little news show like Redacted to report this info yesterday for the Pentagon to finally admit the truth?  if the number was this high, why did the American people hear so little about it until now?

Rambam writes in the Guide, 3:41:The punishment meted out to anyone who has done wrong tosomebody else consists in general in his being given exactly the same treatment that he has given to somebody else. If he has injured the latter's body, he shall be injured in his body… And he who has deprived someone of a member, shall be deprived of a similar member: “As he hath maimed a man, so shall it be rendered unto him” (Leviticus 24:20). You should not engage in cogitation concerning the fact that in such a case we punish by imposing a fine. For at present my purpose is to give reasons for the [biblical] texts and not for the pronouncements of the legal sciences. Withal I have an opinion concerning this provision of legal science, which should only be expressed by word of mouth.What was the secret opinion Rambam held regarding this law?

“I tell you, do not resist an evil person.” — Matthew 5:39 Have you ever wanted revenge? Maybe a colleague stole credit for your hard work, or you were blamed for someone else's wrongdoing. Or if someone hurt you with their words or actions, it's natural to want to even the score. We rarely stop there, however; usually we want revenge plus interest. This can lead to a vicious cycle that can tear apart families, fracture communities, and even destroy nations.Today's passage in Leviticus applies the law from the story we read yesterday, and it reminds us of two things. First, all who are part of God's covenant people are bound by the requirements of the covenant, whether they were born into God's people or not. Justice applies to everyone. And, second, God's law limits what we may seek from people who have wronged us: “an eye for an eye” (and no more). For example, if you injure or kill your neighbor's animal, they may take one of your animals from you, but not two. Justice, properly practiced, has limits.Jesus, however, challenges us further—to extend kindness even to people who have hurt us. In fact, that's what God has done for us! Rather than treat us as our sins deserve by demanding our life from us, the Lord extends mercy to us in Christ, who gave up his own life for our sake. When we see how God has gone the extra mile to show us mercy, we can “turn . . . the other cheek” to people who have wronged us. Gracious God, though we have sinned, you have answered with mercy, and we are eternally thankful. Help us to live by your way of mercy toward everyone. In Jesus, Amen.

“Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.” We've all heard the phrase—but what does it actually mean in the Bible? In this episode, Mike Tolliver and Dr. Dru Johnson unpack the principle of Talion—Lex Talionis—and show why it's one of the most misunderstood elements of biblical justice. They trace the concept across Leviticus, Exodus, and Deuteronomy, exploring how this principle wasn't about vengeance or equal retaliation, but a wisdom-guided restraint on power and a warning to those in authority: “Don't abuse the vulnerable.” Far from being a hard legal code, eye-for-eye was a principle, surrounded by interpretive examples—not a statute for rigid enforcement. The conversation moves from the Torah to Jesus' teachings in Matthew 5, where Jesus isn't rejecting the Old Testament, but interpreting it through its own inner logic.
