Tuesday Nyte Graps Ep. 8 [NXT 1-21-25 Review] by TJ Squared
I had the opportunity to chat again with vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ashton Nyte, who founded the Darkwave/ Gothic Rock act The Awakening. Now US-based, The Awakening was formed in Johannesburg South Africa in the 90s. Nyte more recently released his 12th studio album also called "The Awakening. " With a catalogue of over 300 released original songs, Nyte and The Awakening have enjoyed airplay and chart success on radio stations worldwide, with songs featured in popular television shows like 'Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin' and 'The Purge'. Nyte has contributed to several scores, working with composer Ethan Gold for the movie 'Don't Let Go' (premiering at the Sundance Film Festival) and for the movie 'Pale Horse', directed by the late Pearry Teo.To WATCH THE INTERVIEW : https://www.youtube.com/@DJNocturnaPlease like, subscribe and share https://www.theawakening.com

"It got me out of a really deep depression spell; I still live with depression. I tell people even when I'm smiling happy, and I have great days, I still live with depression. But I can say for sure that since I've consistently been performing, the days that have been bad have been few and farther between. Burlesque hs really opened that part of my life up for me, in the healing component of things. I didn't realize I needed dance as therapy too. Sitting in an office or on a zoom call twice a week is important, but I wasn't releasing anything out of my physical body. I was talking a lot of the feelings out, but to dance them out is a whole different thing." Dancer, model, and makeup artist Harlem Nyte delights Viktor Devonne while chatting about the road that led to beginning burlesque 2 years ago. Just off the Ohio Burlesque Festival stage, this shaker from Chicago is regularly seen with Body Confidence for Queens. Bli med i online-fellesskapet Pusterommet her: Klikk her!Sjekk gjerne ut onlinekurset “Skap en stressfri hverdag” her: Klikk her! Last ned gratis meditasjon for styrket selvfølelse her:: https://www.detlillepusterommet.no/sterkFølg Det lille pusterommet på Instagram her: https://www.instagram.com/marenkvalvaagtoven/Følg Det lille pusterommet på Facebook her: https://www.facebook.com/detlillepusterommetMer informasjon om Det lille pusterommet, kurs og coaching finner du her: https://www.detlillepusterommet.no/ Hosted on Acast. This is another first for the podcast. Welcome the band Nyte Skye to the show. The band is made up of Nyles and Skye Lannon, a father and son duo who have just released their first album on Sonic Ritual. You may recognize Nyles from the band Film School or from his solo work. We start off talking about Nyles' early days playing in college bands before taking several years off working in tech for CDNow before they were bought out by Amazon. That was when he really started taking music seriously. He joined Film School and after years of touring, the band was signed by Beggar's Banquet. At the same time, Nyles was working on some solo projects. But he stepped away from all of it and stayed away for 10 years. He began composing commercial music and started a family. Enter Skye Lannon. Skye's natural aptitude for music was apparent early on. Nyles and Skye began Nyte Skye as a way to flesh out some of the music they had been working on for a long time. They have released their debut album called Vanishing and it sounds great. Nyles and Skye talk about how their writing has changed, straddling the line between producer and dad, and challenges touring when your drummer has too much homework. Follow them on Instagram @nyte_skye_band. Pick up the album on Bandcamp, fat beats, or wherever you get music. Follow us @PerformanceAnx on Twitter & Instagram.

Waiting For A Voice, Nyte's 7th solo album was largely written and recorded after his 36 date European tour with Wayne Hussey (The Mission) concluded in October last year, and features his most personal songwriting to date. Dubbed “Johannesburg’s Bowie” by Cosmopolitan and the “lovechild of Johnny Cash and Nick Cave” by NPR, the new work sees Nyte blending poetry with haunting acoustic minimalism, animated by his rich, diverse baritone voice. The album contains 11 original songs, written, performed, and produced by Nyte, along with an intimate rendition of David Bowie's "Heroes," dedicated to Nyte's father, who passed earlier this year. The accompanying 134pg book expands on themes explored on the album, and is available in hardcover and paperback at www.ashtonnyte.com, along with vinyl, CD and digital versions of the album. "In quiet desperation I pulled the words aside To cover up the violence That blurred my aching my mind And gazing through the portholes Deafened by the noise I spoke into the ocean I’m waiting for a voice” (Waiting For A Voice - Ashton Nyte)

The single is released ahead of his upcoming book and album, "Waiting For A Voice" which will be available on 20 July 2020. Ashton says that recording Bowie's iconic song was not something he did lightly. "The original recording is absolutely perfect as is. I am certainly not able to improve on such a masterwork, nor was that my intention. My version is simply an intimate ode to a song and an artist who helped shape my life as I prefer to know it. It is a song of hope, lyrically as vital today as ever," says Ashton. Now based in the USA, Ashton Nyte is a South African born composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer. He has released 6 solo albums, in addition to 9 albums as The Awakening, one of South Africa's most prominent alternative rock bands. He has also contributed lyrics and vocals to a number of projects, most recently Beauty In Chaos, which features members of The Cure and Cheap Trick among others. Nyte's works have been featured on NPR/PRI in the USA, and he has performed live in-studio to 125 million listeners on the international radio show Border Crossings. Ashton has written and performed in theatrical productions and organized philanthropic events including his Rock Against Rape concert series, and presenting a lecture series at US universities focusing on tolerance and acceptance. Ashton recently completed a 36 date European Tour with British indie artist Wayne Hussey in October 2019 and is currently completing work on his debut book of poetry and short stories, to accompany his new album release.
