Michael finally gets a Pete-centered episode after a long break. Pete's dad has passed, Don has to end a business relationship, and Paul Kinsey hosts an amazing get-together. Joan, meanwhile, has her very darkest moment as a character. And Mike Jallah has a fear of egg nog. Michael promises him and the listeners that he will make Jallah try his favorite brand of egg nog. DAd Break is about "The Midnight Club" by Mike Flanagan, a new series on Netflix about a hospice care center. Jallah talks about how a show about death by a director renowned for their Horrors is not as scary as you might expect. My father had a podcast like this, and when I listened to it...that was a mistake. All right, the polls have closed, and Mad Men Men is ahead. That's right, this week we're digging our own graves for "Nixon vs Kennedy," the 12th episode of Season 1. The Sterling Cooper crew is partying it up, complete with Paul Kinsey's stage play. Peggy said all lives matter. Don and Pete are fighting over which of them metaphorically aligns with Kennedy. And Cooper asks the question most people ask when they come across our show. Who cares? In case this is your first time digging into Mad Men Men, this podcast tackles Mad Men from the perspective of someone who hasn't really watched the show, someone who went through it once a long time ago, and a superfan who watches excessively it instead of having a functional social life. Mad Men was created by Matthew Weiner and aired on AMC from 2007 to 2015. The show stars Jon Hamm, January Jones, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Robert Morse, and many more. The opening instrumental theme heard at the beginning of this podcast is “A Beautiful Mine” by RJD2. Podcast illustration is by Jon Negroni. You can find more TYF podcasts here. We'll be back next week to talk about Episode 13 of Mad Men, titled “The Wheel.” Subscribe to Mad Men Men on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, or wherever else you listen to podcasts.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It's the penultimate episode of season one and to mark that occasion, we brought my brother Joseph Rowland on the show to discuss the episode of Mad Men he and Michael have watched the most together. Sterling Cooper gets messy on election night, Pete knows something about Don that he should not know and Rachel finds out the kind of man Don truly is. Also, Michael and Joseph realize why they hate Paul Kinsey so dang much. Welcome Back to Mad Men & Tonic! In episode 2, Ladies Room, Elias and Kristina down way too many Vodka Gimlets (drink lesson at 1:19) and basically eviscerate Paul Kinsey for the remaining hour (recap starting at 7:00) ! They also touch on Don’s fear of peeing his pants in space, reminisce about the candy pink stoves and gigantic cars of the 50s and 60s, and engage in a rigorous debate over the White Witch herself, Betty Draper. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mad-men-tonic/message
The TV Geek Out crew discusses Mad Men #5.10, "Christmas Waltz," in which we get the return of Paul Kinsey... as a Hare Krishna!? Also, Lane makes a fateful late-night transgression at the office,...
In this weeks episode, special guest host Tank joins Corey as they discuss the return of Paul Kinsey, Don & Joan's afternoon together, and Lane's mysterious financial troubles. As always, they talk about their favorite characters of the week, play "Its How Much?" and look ahead to the final three episodes of Season 5.
[MAD MEN S05 E07] - The Femmes are unmoved by this boring episode that asks us to care about Megan's unfulfilled acting dreams. Despite looking good on paper (Rory Gilmore! Pizza Haus! Ginsburg's F-Bomb!) we wonder what the point of it all is. We discuss Megan problems, Pete problems, Don's old fogey problems, and Cool Whip (just try it, already!). In fact, even talking about the episode bores us so much, we temporarily change the channel to Sherlock. But we’re lured back by the prospect of someone's gruesome death by elevator shaft. So light up a joint and slip that Beatles album on the turntable. We hear if you play it backwards, it says "Paul Kinsey is dead"
In this episode we take a in-depth look into Paul Kinsey and we rate all of Don Draper’s woman. I talk about being on Rob Cesternino podcast, and we go over some Mad Men news and fan feedback. 023_Mad_Men_Podcast_-_Paul_Kinsey_and_Don_Draper_Dames.mp3 Elevator Continue reading 023 Mad Men Podcast – Paul Kinsey and Don Draper’s Dames→
Maidenform gets us right up to the midpoint of Season 2. Peggy has to elbow her way into the boys club, Duck is despised by most of the western hemisphere, and Don does not like it when the ladies talk. Rapey Pete and Paul Kinsey further lay claim on their right to the crown of Douche-land, and Don's secretary is lobsterized. Thanks to everyone who contributed this past week (voicemail/facebook/iTunes/email) as we got a lot of great insight, positive feedback, and an awesome anti-Duck rant. Stay tuned for episode 7, The Golden Violin, next week.
