When Church Doesn't Feel Safe Anymore | Before You Quit #3 What happens when the place that once felt like family no longer feels safe? In Day 3 of Before You Quit: Hope for the Christian Who Feels Done, Rob Skinner addresses one of the most painful reasons Christians consider walking away: church hurt. Church can be a place of incredible friendship, growth, healing, and spiritual transformation. But churches are also filled with imperfect people. Conflict happens. Gossip spreads. Leaders disappoint us. People become controlling. Hypocrisy gets exposed. Relationships break down. And sometimes the people we trusted most are the people who hurt us. Rob shares honestly about seasons when he felt spiritually empty and frustrated by what he experienced as excessive demands and micromanagement in the church. He also recounts being falsely accused by another Christian of inappropriate behavior after a photo of Rob baptizing someone in a hot tub was twisted into something entirely different. The accusation was proven false, but the damage had already been done. For the first time, Rob found himself struggling with feelings of hatred toward another Christian. Drawing from Galatians 5:19–21, Rob points out something that can easily be overlooked: when Paul describes the "acts of the flesh," he doesn't only mention sexual immorality and impurity. He also names hatred, discord, jealousy, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, and envy. These are sins that can happen inside a church community—and they can deeply damage the faith of the people on the receiving end. If you've been hurt, offended, betrayed, gossiped about, disappointed by leadership, or simply reached the point where church no longer feels like the family you thought it was going to be, this episode is for you. Rob isn't asking you to pretend the hurt didn't happen. He's asking you to hang on. You are not the first Christian to experience church hurt, and you can make it through this season without giving up your relationship with God. This episode is part of Rob Skinner's Before You Quit series, based on his new book, Before You Quit: Hope for the Christian Who Feels Done. If someone came to mind while you were listening, send them this episode. It may be exactly what they need to hear today. Before You Quit is available in paperback and Kindle on Amazon. Rob's goal is to inspire you to live a no-regrets life, make this life count, and multiply disciples, leaders, and churches.

In an age where everyone has a platform and every opinion has an audience, many believers have taken on the role of commentators, critics, and self-appointed watchdogs of the Church. While exposing false doctrine and defending biblical truth have their place, what happens when our content becomes consumed with criticizing other believers? When does discernment become destruction? When does correction become gossip? And are we using our platforms to build up the Body of Christ—or to tear it down? In this episode, we explore the fine line between speaking truth and weaponizing truth, and ask whether some forms of "Christian commentary" have become less about protecting the faith and more about feeding outrage, division, and an appetite for controversy. Send us Fan Mail I am celebrating Episode 300 with something special — a full drag-a-thon of Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip Roaring 20th Episode 1 — your jaw will land on the floor. I have some very specific things to say about NeNe Leakes getting a token scene and a show that kept bringing up her and others' most iconic moments while leaving them out — and what I think that tells you about Bravo. Then why Vicki Gunvalson should have kept her mouth completely shut in the very first scene of this show. Teresa Giudice makes up her crime. Then the moment that genuinely shocked Kyle Richards on camera — and Kyle is not easy to shock after 15 seasons — that I think went way too dark for what was supposed to be a 20th anniversary celebration. Then Shannon Beador and Tamra Judge getting fired from future RHUGT episodes — I tell you what really happened behind the scenes that the show does not show you and we discuss who really started all of it that nobody else is pointing at. Where are the lost cities in this celebration — RHOM, RHODubai, RHOL, RHOP, RHODC? Then Lisa Barlow uses the word icky seven times and I have some very specific thoughts about why she of all people should sit this one out. Then I start my Kelly Dodd and Lacey Kogan small claims court deep dive — I read the actual filing, I found Lacey Kogan online and what I found makes me think this is not exactly what Kelly is claiming it is — and I have a theory about why she filed in Orange County instead of Florida. The full Kelly Dodd deep dive, the Dr. Dhivya Srinivasa receipts, the Captain Sandy Yawn fraud resolution, the Luigi Mangione plea deal breakdown and the Lindsay Clancy postpartum psychosis trial deep dive with my honest verdict are exclusively on Patreon for $6.00 a month — come gossip with me: https://www.patreon.com/cw/DishingDramaWithDanaWilkey
Romans 1:18–32 reveals that humanity's deepest problem is rejecting what we know about God. Creation points to His power and truth, yet people suppress that truth and exchange the Creator for created things. This idolatry turns good things into ultimate things, producing desires that never satisfy and leading to greater sin. God's wrath is seen in His “giving them over,” allowing people to pursue what they have chosen and experience the destructive consequences. Paul's list of sins is meant to be a mirror for everyone, exposing the universal tendency to replace God with something else. The answer is not better arguments, culture, or human effort, but repentance and Christ. When we turn back to God, the Holy Spirit begins replacing the fruit of selfishness and sin with love, joy, peace, and self-control. Romans 1 shows the downward path of sin: reject God → replace God → distorted desires → distorted thinking → destructive living. The Gospel reverses that path by bringing us back to the Creator, restoring our hearts and transforming how we live.
Before the era of the tabloid, New Yorkers got their gossip fix from a publication known as Town Topics, where the shocking secrets of the Gilded Age were revealed. But its publisher, William D'Alton Mann, was into more than just a bit of sleaze; he used these scandalous revelations to blackmail members of New York's high society. In this very special presentation of the Gilded Gentleman podcast, Carl Raymond and his special guest, Vanity Fair writer Joe Pompeo, introduce you to this forgotten scheme which threatened to tear apart the morals and polite mannerisms of Gilded Age society. I also share the advice a therapist gave me when I was scared I wouldn't know how to parent a teenager, plus a little life update about London's birthday, D23, and why I'm learning to protect the moments I don't want to miss.
