“Because I said so.”If you grew up in the 60s, 70s, or 80s, you know that sentence ended every debate. No negotiation. No follow-up questions. Just obedience. And looking back… our parents weren't wrong. In this episode of The VIBE with Kelly Cardenas, we break down Proverbs 10 and uncover a powerful truth:Proverbs 10 is God saying, “Because I said so.”This chapter of Proverbs lays out timeless wisdom that still works today: • A wise son brings joy to his father • Doing wrong never pays off • Laziness never works—ever • Integrity creates security • Wisdom accepts instruction • Gossip destroys, but love covers all wrongs • The righteous speak life and produce fruit • Discipline brings life, but ignoring correction leads to ruinThrough practical inchstones (small, daily wisdom steps that compound into massive life change), we explore what happens when you trust God's Word the same way we trusted our parents—even when we didn't like the answer.
Today we’re going inside the world behind the Eras tour that stopped the world - with a deep dive into the first two episodes of Taylor Swift’s new docuseries End of an Era.Laura is joined by two MEGA Swifties on the mic as they break down the behind-the-scenes chaos: life on the road, how the show was built, how Taylor winds down after each stadium performance, and the work that really went into making the two-year phenomenon such a cultural beast. We’re also diving into what the series reveals about Taylor’s inner circle — from rare glimpses of her relationship with Travis Kelce to her “cosy friend” Florence Welch, plus the bond with her dancers and crew (including those headline-making bonuses) and the journey from “can’t dance” to commanding the stage night after night.LISTEN NEXTA Brutally Honest Review Of Wicked: For GoodA Brutally Honest Review Of Taylor Swift's New MovieA Brutally Honest Review Of Meghan Markle’s Christmas SpecialA Brutally Honest Review Of Nobody Wants This Season 2A Brutally Honest Review Of The Spice GirlsTHE END BITSOur podcast Watch Party is out now, listen on Apple or Spotify. Send us a textRHOBH-A Bag of Dicks or a Bowl of FruitRHOBH S15 E2 – “Bearing It All” Podcast SummaryThis episode dives deep into vulnerability, broken relationships, and very exposed emotions—both literally and figuratively. We open with Rachel Zoe at home with her son before he leaves for camp, reflecting on motherhood and fear. When Boz visits, their opposite personalities come into focus: Boz fears nothing, while Rachel admits she fears everything. Rachel opens up about her separation, navigating co-parenting, public scrutiny, and the sting of seeing her ex move on publicly without regard for their kids or shared business interests.Boz and Rachel also discuss Kyle, questioning her insistence that she's “not dating” and encouraging more openness in what they believe is a safe space.Kyle visits Mo's new house for the first time, clearly hurt that he leased it without discussing it with her, making reconciliation feel even farther away. While Mo casually asks about her dating life, Kyle downplays it—despite admitting in confession she has dated and prefers to stay private, unlike Mo. She also shares Dorit's frustration over PK's behavior influencing Mo's choices.Meanwhile, Sutton and Erika meet for facials in a surprising olive-branch moment. Erika opens up about her ongoing heartbreak over Tom, the lack of closure, and the heavy reality of his decline and imprisonment. Therapy has taught her that closure isn't always given—you sometimes have to create it yourself. With civil lawsuits still pending, Erika admits she's emotionally stuck.Dorit, leaning heavily on her parents, shares the immense stress of PK leaving her to manage finances and parenting alone—without explanation or support. Her pain escalates when PK threatens to block the kids' planned trip to Florida, clearly using it as a way to hurt her.Wedding bells loom as Kyle shops for gifts with Alexia and Sutton, joined by new housewife Amanda, who recently bought Kyle's old Bel Air home. Amanda introduces herself as the self-proclaimed “Money Queen,” author of Rich As Fck*, and shares her whirlwind love story—being chased down on the streets of West Hollywood. Her Birkin alone sets the tone. The group gathers at Jennifer Tilly's boho-chic “sip and draw” party, which quickly escalates when multiple nude male models appear. Fashion interpretations of “boho” wildly differ, reactions range from shock to delight, and Erika delivers the line of the night: “I'll take a bag of dicks over a bowl of fruit any day.”Amid laughter and sketches, tension erupts when Dorit breaks down over PK's cruelty toward their children. The women rally around her—offering blunt advice, tough love, and validation—while Kyle feels her support is received differently than others'. The emotional weight of the moment underscores just how fractured Dorit truly is.The episode closes with Kyle opening up to Erika about a secret relationship she had post-separation—one she deeply cared about but kept private out of respect. Gossip and speculation ultimately destroyed it. Kyle breaks down, admitting that while she's always been open, this time it wasn't just about her—and now, it's over.Support the showhttps://www.wewinewhenever.com/

This week on The Way They Were, we do the unthinkable: we go back to Love Actually. Gráinne and Chantal rank the couples from least offensive to “maybe we should call the police”, asking the big questions Richard Curtis never did. Who do we hate the most? Are half these characters quietly unhinged? What exactly is going on with Keira Knightley's extremely youthful bride? And is the secretary secretly a feminist icon? Last summer, Perez Hilton, the gossip blogger who rose to fame for his scoopy and sometimes vicious takes in the early 2000s, was served a subpoena by Blake Lively's legal team. Perez Hilton decided to resist the subpoena under the argument that he is a journalist who is entitled to protect his sources. Micah speaks with Joel Simon, the longtime former head of the Committee to Protect Journalist and founding director of the Newmark School's Journalism Protection Initiative, about who gets included under the umbrella of journalism and why expanding the legal framework of journalistic protections is so important in today's media landscape. This year stretched me in ways I never expected. My heart ached throughout so much of 2025, but I also grew in ways I never thought I could. In this episode, I share the most meaningful lessons I learned about emotional healing, personal growth, faith, relationships, and learning to sit with discomfort instead of running from it. We talk about the difference between processing and obsessing, why seeking peace through information and understanding eventually falls short, and how Scripture points us toward a peace that doesn't rely on clarity or control. I also unpack how loneliness isn't always about lacking people, but about the deeper fear that no one truly has you—and how faith reshapes that belief. We explore why venting can sometimes keep us stuck in anger rather than move us toward healing, and how prayer, stillness, and honesty with God invite real transformation. This episode is for anyone who: has walked through heartbreak or disappointment this year feels lonely even when surrounded by people struggles with complaining and feeling pessimistic is exhausted from overthinking, people-pleasing, and overprocessing wants to heal from trauma without becoming hardened or bitter is learning to trust God in seasons that don't make sense Topics covered: Emotional healing and personal growth, even after being crushed by another person The power of accountability and being seen by community Loneliness, attachment, and feeling unseen Prayer vs. Gossip and Complaining Faith vs control and the peace of God Choosing growth, forgiveness, and discipline of thought Learning to be okay with being alone, healing with God instead of distracting or running. Back in the early 2010s, few celebrity romances burned brighter (or faster) than Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom. She was the breakout star of reality TV's royal family; he was the NBA hero. One month in, they were married. Soon after, their love life was a franchise. For a moment, it looked like reality TV had actually delivered a fairy tale but it was not meant to be.This week on The Way They Were, Kardashian super fan and brilliant stand-up Chelsea Birkby joins Gráinne and Chantal to relive the whirlwind: the TV spin-offs, the tabloid storms, the sex doll, the hookers, and so much more that even the Kardashians couldn't keep up with it.To get episodes ad free and early, join us our Patreon: patreon.com/TheWayTheyWere You can also access our exclusive bonus episodes every other week and take part in The Gossip our exclusive Patreon group chat! DEFENDANT: Tori Amos EVIDENCE: Cloud Watcher California Red Blend SCENE OF THE CRIME: "The Finest Vineyards in California" -- Hey friend — welcome to the chaos: we opened a grocery-store red called Cloud Watcher (hello, green-pepper nose and dark-plum cocoa vibes), wrestled over a billion points in Corrections Corner, and brought our dog Hermes along to supervise. We sip, we sigh, and we trade childhood-cloud stories while debating whether cloud-watching is relaxing or suspiciously boring. Then things get deliciously melodic because our “defendant” today is Tori Amos. We peel back her origin story — piano prodigy at Peabody, early L.A. band experiments, exile to the UK, and the piano-driven masterpiece Little Earthquakes — and run through highlights from Choirgirl Hotel to Boys for Pele, Night of Hunters and beyond. There's talk of kazoo deep cuts, mood rings, curly hair aesthetics, and why Tori's lyrics made us fall in love with poetry all over again. Of course we couldn't resist a game: a twelve-question cross-examination where we read lyrics and guessed whether they were Tori or Not-Tori. There were surprises (Fiona Apple, Tracy Chapman, The Cranberries), triumphant wins, a couple of tequila—I mean wine—sips for wrong answers, and a lot of nostalgic 90s energy. You'll hear about favorite songs (Crucify gets a special shout), concert memories, and how husband, Fact Checker and our little group fit into the Tori fandom saga. Gossip alert: we dive into the messy 90s drama — Trent Reznor, Courtney Love, and the career fallout that left some fans scribbling love and hate in equal measure. We don't shy away from the heavy stuff either: there's a frank moment about trauma, loss, and how those themes weave through Tori's music. Between parenthetical jokes about Publix ads, soup-watching disasters, and a recurring helicopter/hematite-cloud dream, this episode is equal parts nerdy music-nerd history and cozy chat over a $10 bottle that punches way above its price. We also bouquet in a little wanderlust — Cornwall homes, haunted castles, and the dream of living like older, well-rested rich people with perfect towels and fireplaces in every room. So pour a glass, settle in, and listen for the lyric-guessing triumphs, the wardrobe nostalgia (yep, we reunited with our high-school T-shirts), and the way Tori's songs keep looping back into our weird little lives. If you're a Tori obsessive, an accidental listener, or just here to find out whether that wine is worth a splurge — welcome, you're home.
In Wagging Tongues and Tittle Tattle: Gossip, Rumor, and Reputation in a Small Southern Town (University of Georgia Press, 2025), Dr. Sylvia Hoffert calls on a particularly rich collection of primary sources, including diaries, letters, oral histories, census data, court documents, church records, and psychiatric hospital logs, all relating to Hillsborough, North Carolina, to argue that gossip and rumor were central to the formation of interpersonal relationships and an integral part of small-town life in the antebellum South. They exposed the insecurities and anxieties of the town's inhabitants. Indeed, they served as important weapons in the power struggle between the white slaveholding elite—who tried to exert, maintain, and consolidate their control over community life—and the Black, white, and mixed-race men and women, free and enslaved, who did their best to challenge the socioeconomic status quo. And they exposed fissures in the social fabric that discretion, good manners, and historical amnesia could not obscure. The result was that, on a day-to-day basis, the shady streets of Hillsborough may have seemed peaceful to the casual observer. But underneath all that tranquility, the town was ripe with competition and conflict as the inhabitants used gossip to negotiate relationships with their neighbors and make places for themselves in the social, economic, and political hierarchy of the community. In a world where it feels easier than ever to tear each other down, what would it look like if we became women who intentionally build bridges instead of burning them? In this episode, Pastor Lisa walks through the topics of connection, honor, forgiveness, and the holy work of reconciliation. This one will stretch you, bless you, and remind you of the power you carry as a builder in God's kingdom. This episode dives into the heart of what it means to be a bridge builder, a woman committed to connection, honor, and intentional growth. Pastor Lisa brings real, practical, sometimes hilarious, and incredibly convicting truth about the ways we build up or tear down the relationships God has entrusted to us. From the dangers of gossip and complaining to the beauty of forgiveness and wise building, this conversation invites us into a higher standard: becoming women who reconcile, redeem, and restore. You'll feel encouraged, challenged, and empowered to examine your own bridges and commit to building what lasts. 00:28 — The purpose of a bridge: connecting what's been separated. Pastor Lisa shares why God calls us to be "bridge builders" in the Women of Arise. 01:52 — How complaining, gossip, dishonor, and speaking death burn the very bridges we're called to build. 03:36 — Entering her 50s, Pastor Lisa reflects on the value of connection... and who's going to wipe her later in life! 05:44 — Learning not to burn bridges even after mistakes; choosing not to unfollow people just because we disagree. 07:10 — "No one can hurt me unless I allow them." 08:39 — Becoming wise builders who leave room for reconciliation. The story of keeping the porch light on for Bekah. 11:21 — Matthew 7:24-27: Jesus' teaching on the wise and foolish builders and our ability to build well. 14:00 — Being faithful with what God has given now. Not neglecting blessings simply because they don't look like what we want. 16:30 — Ways we burn bridges: dishonor, disrespect, and the power of valuing others. John Bevere's Influence on Understanding Honor. 19:27 — Gossip and slander: Proverbs 16:28. Gossip separates close friends and destroys bridges. 24:22 — Unforgiveness and bitterness: bitterness builds walls, not bridges. 25:30 — Pride and self-righteousness: how long will we wait to cross the bridge? 26:10 — Division and offense: the enemy doesn't have to destroy the church if he can divide it. 27:57 — Neglect and apathy: ignoring your husband's needs weakens the bridge of your marriage. 30:02 — Complaining and cynicism: Numbers 12. Complaining keeps us wandering when God calls us forward. 36:24 — Five ways to build bridges: Speak life (Ephesians 4:29) Choose forgiveness (Colossians 3:13) Listen with love (James 1:19) Practice gratitude Be a peacemaker 40:18 — Bridges are built intentionally - Matthew 5:9. 41:24 — The ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18–19). 44:04 — Closing prayer and blessing. Send us a textWelcome to Episode 239! The Boys met up at Studio AA before heading out for the Thanksgiving Holiday to give us a treat. It's a once a year type of The news has been moving rapid fire these days with headlines galore. Some just begging to be painted by your GBFFS. It's that time of year kids -- The Boys have been watching the news cycles and getting tea on some of the most prescient and important news stories and this is the impetus for the at least once a year episode, Super Trash. And when it's been better than super, that's mega. (and no, not MAGA... not on this podcast) This week is time for Another Mega Trash! That's right! The popular and oft listened to episodes find their way into listeners, callers, readers, viewers, even some of the writers favorites of each season. Kicking off this week's episode, Casey & Mark are discussing who is made what for their Thanksgiving feasts and how they prepared for their tastes. Then a quick convo between The Boys about getting in touch with Santie for the Christmas List fulfillment. Closing out the Weekly Trash Pick-Up, your GBFFs are discussing seeing movies you don't really want to and how to ruin the film for everyone when you don't like it.Trash Talk topics this week kick off with some new or further troubles for some of The Real Housewives. There's an update about Wendy and Eddie Osefo from RHO Potomac, who now find themselves in deeper legal trouble -- how so?? Well you'll have to listen to see just how. Then Dorit and Sutton of RHOBH are burgled at their homes as they take the stages of BravoCon in NYC and Mia Thornton from RHO Potomac finds herself in cuffs at the Atlanta airport. Next, Erika Jayne's finds herself in familiar territory when her new beau finds himself in scalding hot water. Also, have you heard of sologomy? Mark's educating on this new sort of relationship. Then, universally seen symbols of hatred are no longer seen as hate symbols by the US Coast Guard -- but there's no human rights under attack in the United States. Then -- this years hottest gift outta China is an AI/ ChatGPT teddy bear which now is under fire for horribly inappropriate statements they make. A woman is violently attacked after she paid someone over $500 to do just that -- attack her--- so she could claim political violence. Phew!Like we said -- it's an episode full of Super Trash! The Boys are bringing the hilarity and discourse this week. The topics are sprawling, the tea is piping hot, and the recommendations (oh, yes -- there's recommendations for you too!) are legit. This one's a super goodie. So pour yourself the port vintage you saved for yourself after the holiday, maybe even have ya a slice of pumpkin pie with it and have a seat at the table with your GBFFs who are bringing the hilarity, the discourse, all filled with f@gg*try! Get ready! It's time to paint!=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Let The Boys of Painted Trash know your thoughts on this week's topics and episode!
