MadMen Recap from Dr. John and Paul
Can you dig it! The final season is upon us. Season 7 has started hot out of the gates with Megan, Chaough and Pete out in LA, the rest of the crew working with a Mr. Rodgers of a new Creative leader and Joan getting ankle deep in the business of... business. Great to be back with all our recappers.
This is our last second predictions Episode for Season 7 (starting tonight). Listen to it...... It will with out a doubt change your life!!
He we are folks, the finale for season 6, In Care Of. This is full of twists and turns that ultimately leave Don with a very uncertain future. We hope you have enjoyed this recap season as much as we have enjoyed bringing it too you. Again thank you to all who participate from the website to iTunes to facebook and twitter and of course all of the great emails. See you for Season 7.
Pete is a turd, Glen is back and has a friend named RowLow, Betty Monster drives a car, Don blames the entire campaign on a dead guy. Plz enjoy "The Quality of Mercy" recapped!!
Favors. A real tough one as Don gets caught with his pants down, and Peggy catches a rat, kind of. Pete's mother's nurse is a little too into his work, and Bob Benson reveals his true feelings. Thanks for all the great emails, tweets and posts.
A Tale of Two Cities is the newest Mad Men episode for the recappers to tackle, and so they have. Seeing Don, Harry and Roger take on the west coast with interesting results, watching Joan, Peggy and Pete figure out Avon calling, and watching that amazing Bob Benson. Enjoy this one folks.
The Bobby situation is finally acknowledged, we all go to Camp, Betty's revenge, and a whole host of other delights as we recap "The Better Half" . Great Mailbag today. Enjoy!!!
The Crash is full of high octane, out of left field stuff including some more Don/Dick Flashback action, a long lost grandma and Cutler's doctor offering to cure what ails you. Great Mailbag today. Enjoy!!
Man With a Plan looks more like Don with No plan and Chaough with a plane. Pete still being Pete and a little medical scare for Joanie. Great mailbag and tweets. Enjoy!!
For Immediate Release, here it is. Looks like we are saying good bye to Trudy and good riddance to Herb from Jag. Roger is back to bringing in business, and Don comes up with an idea that will reshape the advertising world (dramatic pause). Great bunch of emails and the tweets were great this week, Thanks.
The Flood deals with some heavy material, and who better to recap that for you than Paul and Dr. John. From Peggy's hunt for a home to Ginzos dating technique to the Pete vs Crane battle of the twits this show brings it. Thanks for all the great iTunes/email/Facebook/website participation.
Doing it twice! Mad Men Recap is back with the good doctor to talk about the "To Have and To Hold". There is Swingers, Telephone restaurants, timecard scandals, Harry Crane freak outs and much much more!! Great emails and such a fun time with the live tweets.
Who has it better than us? Nobody! Mad Men Recap is back with the good doctor to talk about the Collaborators and all it's twists and turns from Pete losing his man card to Don working the doctor's wife and Peggy trying to come up with copy for a new kind of feminine powder. Great emails and such a fun time with the live tweets.
Well……. you ever wonder why Batman never let Robin fight crime on his own with just batwomen? Well if you ever did this is why. Kate and Paul do a show without Dr. John to start off the new season of MMRC with a bang… Try to enjoy.
The guys do the listener favorite predictions episode for Mad Men Season 6 about to start this Sunday!!!! Please enjoy!!
Yes, it's been a while, but here we are, on the door step to another season of our favorite show, and the recap is ready to get all over season six. But before we kick off this next chapter, MMR would like to reflect on the world of Mad Men. Here is a brief discussion of the show to this point, leading up to our annual predictions episode all to set the stage for Season Six.
MailBag episode to make you ears sing! Please Enjoy!
The fifth season of Mad Men has concluded with aptly named "The Phatom." Phantom's abound as Don sees the phantom of his dead brother, the phantom of Lane hangs over the office, Pete's sees the phantom of his affair. Great end to a great season. As always, wonderful comments, and we are looking forward to a great mail bag show coming up soon.
Commissions and Fees, a great, and a greatly sad episode finds it's way to the recap. We say good bye to a long time friend, we will miss you Mr. Pryce. Don finds a little of the old fire, and Sally is growns up and growns up and growns up. So much great feedback, you'll have to check out our recap to learn the new plan for the mailbag. Keep 'em coming folks, they are great.
The Other Woman has arrived and has got Peggy moving on, Joan is moving up and Megan is moving forward. Great episode, and great contributions as always from our listener. (we apologize for Paul's coughing at the end of the show…. oops)
Is your dance card full? Oh, no? Then please join us for a Christmas Waltz. Crane finds religion and maybe an STD. Don really isn't that into theater, and Lane apparently minored in tracing. Great show and great emails from all the listeners.
Be wary of what ever is lurking in those Dark Shadows. Betty Monster earns her moniker and then some, Don gets the creative juices flowing, kind of, and Roger has the deepest pockets ever. Another great episode, and another great round of listener feed back, mail, iTunes and tweets. We'll explain the Harpy Shrew comments on the next show. We cut the (paul rant) for time.
Lady Lazarus shows a little too much leg for our liking in this episode as Pete jumps the shark and lands in crazy, Peggy gets flustered by a little cool whip (but who doesn't) and Megan, an actor, sacre bleu! Fun emails, check the facebook for some great photos, and we'll be back with the live tweets this week.
Will you be our date to the Codfish Ball? The recap enters a strange, French world of Megan's parents, clearly unhappy with their relationship and their language. Peggy sets herself up for disappointment not once but twice (and should have seen at least the second one coming), and Roger continues his crazy trip as it were. The email bag blew up, thanks for all the comments, and check out some great posts from our fans on Facebook.
The Mad Men Recap is ready and excited to take you to Far Away Places. These are places where the frisky behavior at the movie theater isn't restricted to the action on the screen. Where cigarettes and vodka could be band members, and where HoJo may have great sherbert, but not the cleanest pools. Please, enjoy your trip.
Signal 30 could have been called "Signal Awesome." This remarkable feat of cinematography shows us that even though Campbell soup is mmm mmm good, Pete Campbell is mmm mmm creepy all the way around. Lane Pryce has a mean left cross and Kenny Cosgrove is still the best person at SCDP. Great contributions, as always, from our listeners and for that we sincerely thank yo
Mystery Date: Grandma Pauline and Sally hit it off in more ways than one, Don's having murder sex dreams……kinky. Peggy is the nicest racist ever. Ginns can sell a shoe campaign like nobody's business. Enjoy the show everyone Dr John give so many history lessons we might have to charge extra for this episode.
Tea Leaves brings us further into season five, and we see Betty has let herself go a bit and survives a cancer scare, Don hangs out with the Stones and Pete and Roger continue to go at it. Great to hear from all of you over the past week though email, facebook and the website, and the live twitter is a blast. Can't wait for next week. (FYI: If you need more clarification on why we changed the word "stupid" to "kittens" check out the comments section of the website for show number 50)
Happy Birthday Season 5, er, I mean Don. 17 months later, we are thrilled to bring you the newest Mad Men recap of the first every 2 hour premier. From Birthday surprises to a creep off between Crane and Lane to finding out that Mama Joan has issues with her own mama. Great start to a new season, and great start from the recap faithful with emails, tweets and facebookings pouring in. Check out the new and improved website at madmenrecap.com for more madness.
Welcome to the Season 5 Predictions Episode! Dr. John, Paul, and Kate take you through their special/ insightful/ professional/ stupid predictions for the long awaited season 5. So sit back and listen carefully because this could come in handy around the water cooler on friday when you have the best predictions and your friends look like turds!!! Enjoy!
Did you miss us? We missed you sooooo much. Now, with the Holidays out of the way, we are super excited to get back into the recap groove. This is our first (and only) recap recap. Yes, we are recapping "Guy Walks into an Advertising Agency" from season three, and this was our very first recap over 2 years ago. And in true MMRC fasion we explore the dangers of office lawn furniture, the peril of having stupid fingers and the shame of being related to Paris Hilton. Amazingly you stayed with us during this most prolonged of offseasons, and we thank you and look forward to revving the recap wagon up to full speed as season five draws near.
The Fog brings us midway into season three as we share in the arrival of another Draper. Lane is bitching of stupid stuff, and Duck comes off his pond to lure some of the up and comers at Sterling-Coo. Amazingly, even in this long off season, we've had some great listener input, and, as always, really appreciate it.
Back and better than ever with our take on The Arrangements, the MMRC demonstrates how to rehearse a commercial and creep out your significant other, that medals should be handed out for more than valor, and when chocolate smells like oranges your in trouble. The off season emails keep rolling in, and we love it!
Good News!!! There will be a 5th season of Mad Men. Unfortunately not until 2012. And that is where the Mad Men Recap is picking up the slack and keeping things going in 2011. In "My Old Kentucky Home" we see a Blackfaced Roger, a squeezbox playing Joan and a drunk Jane. We meet some new characters who will soon become staples, and see a dance routine that would embarrass Ginger Rodgers if she were alive today.
The off-season Recap Rolls on with "Love Among the Ruins." The second installment in season three shows us that Betty, though a monster, has a weasel of a brother. Don comes to the rescue once more only to be undercut by those damn redcoats, and Peggy struggles with professional hard nosed work, and embracing the softer side of womanhood. Great contributions from the listeners as always as we head toward season 5!
Did you miss us? Because we sure missed you all! Fresh off his bout with the yet medically undiscovered supervirus, Paul (with cohost Dr. John) brings to life the first episode in season 3, Out of town. We see some interesting artwork, a double promotion, and a fire alarm causing all kinds of havoc in Baltimore. Even in the off season the emails were spectacular, thanks to all who take a moment to listen to the show.
We finally made it to the Season Finale... of Season 2! Meditations in an Emergency finds bombs flying all around the Mad Men World from the Cuban Missile crisis, to a new Pregnancy. A changing of ownership and the threat of eternal damnation. Thanks to those of you following throughout this off season, and for all your welcomed participation, including a course in Mad Men at Northwestern University. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
The lost episodes continue with the Mountain King, the second to last episode of season 2. In this episode, we see Greg not a Mr. Perfect, but Dr. Rapey. Roger is more concerned about diamond door knobs than Bert's sense of fulfillment, and Don frolics on the California beach. Thanks for all the off season emails and facebooks, we love the participation, and as a special treat, Paul gives a lesson on Podcasting 101 at the end of this show. See you soon for the Finale.
After a short break from the studio, we're back and better than ever. We pick up right where we left off in season 2 with The Jet Set, episode eleven. And nothing gets Don's blood pumping like a nomadic sex cult, Pete manages to be greasy even in California, and Duck hops off the wagon and back in the pond as some serious wheels are set in motion at Sterling-Coo. Thanks to everyone for the kind words, emails and facebooks. And we hope you enjoy the off-season installments.
Tomorrowland is the final chapter in this 4th season of Mad Men. Bomb after Bomb is dropped as we find Joan has kept the bun in the oven, Don finds true love in the arms of a Von Trapp, and Harry Crane is a super dweeb (maybe that last one not so much of a bomb). It's been an outstanding season here at the recap. Thanks to all of you who have tuned in to listen to our little show, and thanks to everyone who participated by chiming in on the facebook, with the tweets and the great emails. We'll be able to get some older episodes recapped in the offseason to help pass the time. See you in 1966!
Blowing Smoke is the penultimate episode of what has been a outstanding fourth season of Mad Men. Don fires the shot heard round New York by blowing off big tobacco. Pete's mind is blown when he has to pony up 50 big ones to keep the agency afloat. And an old friend decides to skip the blow and head straight to smack as Midge learns that heroin is a full time job. With the finale at our doorstep, a great big thanks to all the superb participation from our listeners on facebook, twitter, email, the website and even the occasional voicemail. You've help make this so fun.
It is as if we have been hurled over "The Chinese Wall" which is bringing us down the home stretch for Mad Men's season 4. This episode brings tumult and strife as the Lucky Strike bomb detonates, Joan has to put the brakes on Roger while Don's resistance flags in the face of a full out Canadian offensive. This was the most email we've EVER received after one show, and we loved it. Thanks to everyone for listening!
Hands and Knees! Hands and Knees! Joanie is preggers, Don is under gaze of Big Brother, and Roger learns that his biggest account is no more. If we learn one thing, its how to freak out over Beatles Tickets. Great emails/tweets/posts from the best podcast fans on the planet.
"The Beautiful Girls" takes us through twists and turns with some of our favorite Mad Men Women. Joan rekindles an old flame with our favorite silver fox. Dr. Faye has gone all olivia-newton-john on us, and gotten physical with Don. Peggy is set up with a Douche-face surprise, and Sally does her best to escape the ice queen of Ossining. Thanks for all the emails, all the facebook posts and all the love.
Does it smell like corn outside? "The Summer Man" brings us into mid June of '65 as we see Don start pulling his life under a bit more control, as Joan's begins a spiral of it's own. Peggy grows a pair, and we see some fast action in the taxis of the NYC. As always, the email and facebook contributions make this show so much fun, keep 'em coming and enjoy the show.
"The Suitcase" is full of wonderful acting, great story lines, touching and awkward moments. We see Don getting some real bad news, Peggy has everything crash down around her, and Burt Cooper has no Balls. Set around a famous fight, and a famous piece of luggage, this episode adds tremendous depth to the Don/Peggy relationship, while showing that Trudy is a big fan of blood-sport, and Mark isn't the cats meow in boyfriend material. Thanks for the great emails and facebook comments, and look for us to be back with some great live tweets for next weeks show.
Recappers, your wish is granted. Another great Mad Men episode in "Waldorf Stories" brings to light a whole slew of questions. How can you go to bed with an attractive woman with poor accessories and wake up with a skanky waitress? When is a discovery really the fruits of some martini soaked olives? What does stripping have to do with being productive? Find the answers to these questions and oh so much more in this edition of the Mad Men Recap. As always thanks for filling up the Mail Bag, Facebook, iTunes, website, and Twitter with your insightful thoughts and Roger Sterling-like wit. And enjoy the show.
The Chrysanthemum and the Sword is the 5th installment of this season's Mad Men, and it was a good one. Roger's hatred of the Japanese costs the company a client, but Don's clever ways clear out a competitor. Blankenship may be an incompetent secretary, but Faye is loving the Saki. The Mad Men Mail Bag blew up, thanks for all the contributions, and check out the new great artwork on facebook.
This week's "The Rejected" brings with it a super stuck up photographer, a blast from the past with Ken Cosgrove, and a bundle of joy for the Campbells. Pete brings in some new business, and Allison show's off her pitching arm. The Mad Men Mail Bag filled up with some great comments, and we have found our listeners are learning as much, if not more than us. Thanks for all the tweets, FB posts, and reviews.
Episode 4 "The Good News" brings about Medicinal Marijuana for a broken leg, some just terrible hillbilly jokes, and floral deliveries gone awry. If you've never seen and English man drunk, don't miss Lane Pryce at the movies. Thanks so much for all the listener participation, filling up the Mad Men Mail Bag, the Facebook and iTunes. Look for our in-show twitter session next week.
Merry Christmas! Episode 2 of this 4th season brings us into Christmas time of 1964. We see team Francis fall victim to that devious vandal, Glen Bishop. Another blast from the past, our old pal, and currently sober friend, Freddy Rumson makes a triumphant return, kind of. And Don Draper finds that passing up a nurse for his secretary might be a poor choice. The Mad Men Mail Bag is chalk full with great listener comments and some stellar art work, thanks to everyone that checks in with us on iTunes, Facebook, Twitter and the website, and as always, enjoy the show.
