If you were a teenager in the 2000s and grew up near Dallas, TX, you probably went to your fair share of live music in Deep Ellum like we did. On this week's episode, we chat with the former General Manager and part owner of The Door and The Prophet Bar, Joel Fruth. He's got some first hand stories to share about the one and only Ethan Durelle, the underrated and extremely talented post-punk indie outfit from Waco, TX. Their debut record, White Knuckles On Turned Wheels, and the sound they cultivated can best be described, as Joel puts it: "Radiohead and Death Cab for Cutie were married, and then Death Cab divorced Radiohead and married Incubus."This show is part of Pantheon Podcasts.

DCR returns to the Habitat - this time with IPAs in hand! We have a wide-ranging conversation about art, family, and weird internet stuff. Things get buzzy and we have a jam after the interview. Make sure to get tickets for his show on March 15th at Prophet Bar in Deep Ellum - follow @epicpoet on Instagram and check out DCR's high energy style. He'll also be performing at Speakeasy on March 8th, dig it!
Greg and Dave are live from the Prophet Bar in Dallas with Stars defenseman Stephen Johns! We talk NHL Awards, Barry Trotz and the Islanders, Ilya Kovalchuk, drunken Notre Dame hijinks, the Mike Hoffman trade, Sergei Zubov and the Hall of Fame, and Jamie Benn being down. Plus, two live game shows and much more!
We get settled in with all the bros, so much bro, pop that collar harder bro, female bro laying down the Urban Dictionary definition of the Bro Code, a quick run down of proper bro attire, can we just talk about how awesome How I Met Your Mother was? But the seminal Bro Code comes from Seinfeld, Lauren has to explain what a question is, discussion on the true spirit of the Bro Code, Kirk goes there with the “H” word, Lauren calls Kirk out for breaking a major tenant of his own Bro Code, Mitch and Todd break minor rules, Lauren lawyers the shit out of Todd, Todd’s vocal skills are put on display, like how do you define “snaking?” Kirk literally refers to his ex’s vagina as a snake pit, Chivalry =/= Bro Code (that episode coming soon!) Todd finally catches up to Kirk’s level of porn use, then Kirk comes back to assert his creepy dominance, the gang discusses sisters, Lauren’s brother is way more defensive of her than the bros are of their sisters, Tommy had a crush on Kirk’s sister back in college, Bros ALWAYS encourage Bros to get more tattoos, SECOND most important organ, Mitch introduces a very strange and awkward guessing game, ethnic names are hard for white people, we quickly find out that these Bros are some of the worst Bros, quick break from a discussion for the visually impaired audience, the proverbial carrot at the end of Todd’s stick is REALLY specific, Mitch redefines BPM, Todd gets real introspective and it gets a little weird, we can’t help but objectify women in this episode, Kirk’s got a big ole crush on someone and everyone knows and loves her, let’s talk about hot chicks! How’d this get so weird so fast? Too Fast Too Titanic jokes! What counts as a full embrace? This episode just keeps getting weirder, then we’re man-slut shaming, then Mitch brings it all back with an amazing musical number, bro-flation may be the worst word we talk about, intentional sausage party is the only fun sausage party, why are we always talking about Kirk going to jail? T-shirts are the best icing on top of everything, Kirk tells a story in the worst way possible, gets confused, then tries to clarify, but the rugby brain never works properly, Tommy is the world’s GREATEST wingman EVER and we need to get him on the program, Lauren gives us some of the greatest job titles ever, Tommy is a blessing and a curse. Please go check out https://thewizzywigs.bandcamp.com/releases right now and come to their show January 25th at the Prophet Bar in Deep Ellum! Seriously things just KEEP GETTING WEIRDER, Lauren is crazy, Kirk thinks that crazy things are actually just fun, Kirk will NEVER stop trying to plug Al Burian, Kirk whips out the random Forney facts, Mitch just knows about big jackrabbits, Mitch is real good at quick math, we all take a minute to learn about Forney, Kirk almost chokes on his beer, Lauren needs to sack up, Kirk does not appreciate how direct his clientele is with him, Tommy like seriously needs to come on soon, you never Tom Brady anyone, your bros are your windows to last night’s fuzzy memories, thus concludes the HIMYM Bro Code, the guys have no idea how lady undergarments function, gym Bro Code is the best code, bro bartering is the best currency, target woman is just weird. Get active on all our social media! Outro music provided by The Wizzywigs
