I had a great talk with Dustin from talesofexile.com - Dustin is a survivor, and he has made it his mission to let others know they're not alone. This is the second in a series of former Jehovah's Witness members. I've learned a lot about this religion/cult in the last month or so, and it's been an eye-opener for me. Are you in a situation you don't want to be in? Know that you're not alone. reach out to Dustin: dustinmitchell461@gmail.com www.talesfromexile.com Instagram: @talesfromexile This episode is available on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts. We have become divided. Through social construction and meticulous higher forces, some hidden and others in plain sight, our country has been torn apart to the point where we cannot even talk to each other anymore. That's where this episode comes in. Episode #186 of The Michael Baston Podcast features two people from opposite ends of the political spectrum answering six identical questions, and one question specific to their party. These are two separate interviews, conducted by me, which avoids the confrontational "debate" format in order to allow each person to express their opinions and views as clearly as possible. My intent in this episode was simply to listen. I fell slightly short of that goal in an unplanned attempt to hash out my own views, as I ended up interjecting some personal opinions into each conversation, as well as challenging both guests on certain issues. When you choose to shut off another person because you don't like their views then that person becomes an enemy. Enemies destroy each other. We are destroying each other every day in the United States. This episode is my attempt to slow our destruction through the power of conversation. I implore you to listen to every second of each of these interviews. Comment on YouTube what you agree with and disagree with. How can I do this better next time? Where were my shortcomings in my stated goal? How about my guests? How do YOU feel, and what do YOU think? I am here to listen and to learn. Let's talk it out. Would you like to Zoom with me for a conversation discussing any of the topics covered in this episode? If you're able to clearly state what you believe in and why, then please message me and let's do it. I want to talk to anybody and everybody, because that is what I can contribute to the healing of our free and open society. Thank you Juan Carlos and Aaron for your participation in this project. This episode is presented by Transmissions from the Habitat podcast network. video for this episode here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYFvxoSGwZ-1-eenNNFs6NQ This is the first in what is hopefully a series of episodes about cults and the people who leave them. Simone is a former Jehovah's Witness. Maybe you, like me, never thought of this group as a "cult," and if that's the case then you should definitely watch this episode. I'll never look at them the same way after hearing Simone's story. She is admirably brave for agreeing to share with me the extremely unacceptable actions that occurred while she was in the cult, and what it was like for her getting out while the rest of her family stays in. This is more than morbid fascination. I want someone, somewhere to see this episode and realize they can leave whatever messed up situation they're in, whether it's a cult, relationship, or anything else that strikes them as "wrong." Let Simone's strength carry you to the point of exit, which is just the beginning. Watch on YouTube or listen on Spotify. This is a very special episode. It was completely unplanned, so I didn't know what I was going to talk about. What came out was a slightly humorous and tangential recollection of 9/11, including an emotional moment as I remember something that happened with my family on that day. On a personal note, I have big changes coming. The only constant in my life over the past 3 years, besides the people I love, are these podcasts I do. This is a place where I can express my emotions and whatever creativity is in my bones. I don't have a ton of listeners. I don't get a ton of views. I don't make a ton of money doing it. But that's not even remotely what this is about for me. This podcast, The Michael Baston Podcast, is me. It's as unfiltered as I can possibly be, and I will never stop doing it. We are but rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. We touch Chungus' mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding. Organic life is nothing but a genetic mutation, an accident. Our lives are measured in years and decades. We wither and die. Chungus is eternal. Before it, we are nothing. Chungus imposes order on the chaos of organic life.
