With the proliferation of home video and lower barrier of entry to filmmaking, the 1980's were a decade inundated with horror movie releases. Within this volume, we saw masses of cheap and poorly made films, but also examples of great creativity and ingenuity. Streaming has replaced the direct-to-video model, but in many ways the 80's created the format for how we access horror movies to this day. As one of the most prolific, the decade offers many of the best horror of all time. Jerry and Matt discuss the dark and creepy A Nightmare on Elm St, from 1984, as well as the iconic and outstanding sequel, Aliens, from 1986.

Ryan Cabrera is an American musician. He began his career as a lead singer for the Dallas band Rubix Groove before pursuing his solo career. Following the 2001 release of independent album Elm St., he released his first major-label album, Take It All Away, on August 17, 2004. Earlier in the year, Cabrera had become known for his up-tempo pop-rock single "On the Way Down". It was then followed by Cabrera's second single, "True"; and his third single "40 Kinds of Sadness". He's still performing to this day and you'll hear all about that in this interview. I saw him on MTV a lot back in the day so I was super interested to know how the punk scene influenced him and what his lifestyle has been like since he broke out. I got him on the Skype and this is what we chat about What bands got him into punk music Connecting with Joe Simpson How he would sell himself at meetings with record labels The Ashley Simpson show Butting heads with John Rzeznik during their recording session His TV show Score Getting Punk'd Perez Hilton giving him a lot of shit Changing his sound Being on TRL The Lindsey Lohan story And a ton more Check him out on the Pop2000 Tour and listen to his latest single PRESCRIPTION OF YOU on Manic Kat Records. Sure, Carrie Wright appeared on the podcast to plug the Berkshire Art Center (formerly IS183) annual Gala, Metallic Couture Disco, Saturday April 1st, but we certainly had to cover more ground than that. We started from the beginning when Carrie "grew up" on Bousquet Mountain, then went on Colorado State, and continued her journey on various ski mountains with a core group of friends, including her future husband, Bill. An artist herself, Carrie has been one of the most visible organizers and advocates in the Berkshire arts scene, including her work in the 10x10 festivals and, of course, her work supporting IS183. After the pandemic disruption, she reinvented herself and became a licensed realtor. At first, she feared that her new role would diminish her ability to give back to the community, as she did when she worked in the non-profit world. Turns out that this was not the case, and Carrie feels like she's able to do more than ever to support others. Also in this episode we cover: Carrie's sing-talking with her kids and a demonstration in the episode, the photo and video events before the event to promote past IS183 galas, DJ Ryan Brown, the different ways to pronounce Palmer's variety store on Elm St., Bill and son Pilot's Instagram reviews of tin fish and more. I hope you enjoy my conversation with Carrie Wright. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/john-krol/support

So Marc from A Podcast on Elm St is a badass. Enough said. Anyway, this is just a whatever episode. We try to break down the Gore Score and decide what the guidelines for it are. We talk our favorite actors and some other shit too. This is just a whatever episode. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/extremehorrorreplay/message
Marc from A Podcast on Elm Street joins me (Tawny) to talk about heavier music we're enjoying, our history with music, and everything between. We get into live shows, music videos, and elitism in this genre of music. Even though this bonus episode was a departure from our normal content, you know we talked a little about Skinamarink and Pearl (can't be helped). Chris Iosua comes on to talk about his jk, 24 hours to hell and back, and then thing devolved into some exciting details.
Y'all ever see that movie where Australian bikers face off against an Italian Nitemare Feddy aboard a lavish train in 1930s America? Oh, maybe that was actually three different movies. Maybe the three our Patreon pals picked for us this week. Up first! We board a cross-country train with John Barrymore and Carole Lombard in the knee-slapping screwball yarn Twentieth Century (from 1934), directed by Howard Hawks and picked by Listener Luke! Next up! We head on over to Australia with a buncha sleazy bikers and a skeezy copper in 1974's Stone, a bonafide Ozploitation classic from a dude who sadly never directed anything else & picked by the legendary Expat Elise! Finally! Of course, it's 1990's Night Killer, a movie that is neither a Texas Chainsaw nor a Nightmare on Elm St, no matter what Claudio Fragasso and Eric from Nashville tell ya! All this plus sweaty men stewing in their juices and smelling burnt turds, the home decor repor(t), the fireworks reporks, Parker's an Otaku Son of a Bitch, yes Sean does say the word 'jazz' at least once, Sweetman's Wrestlechats, bogus Clue boardgames make Kevin wanna puke, a dangerous political sidebar, the Carole Lombard Repord, there's no wrong way to enjoy Troll 2, nerd news and even more! Recorded live-to-tape on Buttered Corn Day, 2022!! Direct Donloyd HereGot a movie suggestion for the show, or better yet an opinion on next week's movies? Drop us a line at JFDPodcast@gmail.com.
