The Moon City Masters have been putting out music for the last 5 years, but Jordan and Talor Steinberg have been playing together for the last 20 years! They love music of the 70's and 80's and so the music they create has a neo-classic rock sound with a big splash of soul and funk! They're currently working on new music with Kevin Comeau of Crown Lands and they were nice enough to stop by the show! Jordan, Talor and Doc talk about basketball (and the lack of knowledge of basketball), seeing the Red Hot Chili Peppers, learning to play music, starting bands together, working on new material and much much more! Original Release Date: Monday 19 May 2025 Description: If you are interested in movies, movie making, or the movie business, you are going to find this week's show fascinating. Dean and Phil do deep dives into the cinematic delights brought to us by the Marx Brothers, the Canadian films produced under that country's 100-percent Capital Cost Allowance tax shield for investors, Jon Voight's plan to save Hollywood and the wildly different reactions to that plan within the industry, the ways the smash hit Sinners might change the economics of the biz, and the just-commenced 78th Cannes Film Festival (including one apparent all-time masterpiece that made its debut as well as a “secret” documentary about the Red Hot Chili Peppers). As if that weren't enough, your friends in podcasting go overtime to remember two impactful filmmakers, an Oscar-winning makeup artist, a beloved big screen “tough guy”, and a prolific child star of the 1930s and 40s.

Principal consultant with Crowdsafety.org since 2014, Steve toured with any number of big acts, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Beastie Boys among them, and came up with a formal showstop procedure while working with Oasis in the 1990s. It's something he's instigated 32 times around the world, “Never a problem. No injuries, no deaths, no problems with the promoters, the artists, and happy fans who go home safely”. In this episode, host Adam Parry steers the guests through a discussion thick with their experiences and expertise, encompassing reasons for a showstop, preparation for that potential on an event site, training/getting the procedure right, and the dangers of indecision. An inspiring 20 minutes. Don't miss it. To keep up to date with all the news, subscribe for free here. If you would like to take part in a podcast, then please complete our submission form.

In which The Curmudgeons continue their exploration of the City of Angels during arguably its most fertile period, namely the decade of the 1980s. Last episode, we established that the glam metal and punk scenes gestated based on a similar us-against-the-world ethos, albeit expressed much differently from one another. By the late '80s, glam metal had become a bona fide global commodity and its punk...hadn't, morphing instead into something wholly original and awe-inspiring. Here, we tell the story of the rest of glam metal, giving particular emphasis on Motley Crue, Poison and Guns N' Roses. We also track the rise and extraordinary influence of The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane's Addiction. This week's Mixtape Rewind takes us back to our new music mix from October 2022Taylor Swift dominated charts by claiming all top ten Billboard spots with her "Midnights" album – we explore "Mastermind," highlighting how her songwriting prowess continues to evolve while maintaining that distinctive Taylor sound. The musical whiplash continues as we bounce between genres. Flatland Cavalry's folksy "Mountain Song" transports listeners to peaceful natural landscapes, while Sam Smith and Kim Petras deliver the imposing, menacing "Unholy" that marks a dramatic departure from Smith's typical style. Rock veterans make strong showings with Smashing Pumpkins returning to their hard-edged roots on "Beguiled" and Red Hot Chili Peppers honoring guitar legend Eddie Van Halen with their extended six-minute tribute "Eddie."Our exploration reveals fascinating discoveries – from The 1975's "I'm In Love With You" (prompting us to admit we've overlooked their 20-year catalog) to emerging artist Jake Swamp and the Pine's nostalgic "Empty Stomachs and Bloodshot Eyes." We even find Bruce Springsteen covering Ben E. Upon its release in 1992, Beautiful Mess by Thelonious Monster received plenty of critical acclaim yet not the sales or media exposure to launch the band into the new alternative explosion. Lead singer Bob Forrest's deeply personal lyrics explored themes of addiction, relationships, and self-destruction, not all that different from other bands at the time, but musically the band sounds more in step with Minneapolis bands like The Replacements and Soul Asylum the late 1980s. Featuring a slew of notable names from bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Porno for Pyros, and more as his backing band, the band succeeds at bringing Forrest's stories to life even if a few lyrics choices didn't stand the test of time. In this episode of Prisoners of Rock and Roll, we're stage-diving into the sweaty, dusty madness of Lollapalooza—a festival that started as a punk-rock farewell tour and turned into a genre-crushing, culture-shaping juggernaut with more lives than Keith Richards. Lollapalooza launched in 1991 as a sendoff for Jane's Addiction—but it hit the road just as grunge was blowing up and quickly turned into something way bigger. It wasn't just a tour—it was a movement. A 20-city, 20,000-screaming-fans-a-night, punk rock circus on wheels. By ‘92, Pearl Jam was leaping into mosh pits, Red Hot Chili Peppers were funking up the chaos, and Rage Against the Machine stood naked on stage in Philly, duct tape over their mouths in a silent protest against censorship. This wasn't peace and love—it was rebellion with a PA system. Sure, it stumbled—people accused it of selling out. Then it died in ‘98, flopped in ‘04—but like any great rock act, it made a comeback. And Chicago's Grant Park became its home base. From tattoo tents to $400 VIP wristbands, Lollapalooza has been underground, mainstream, gritty, glossy—always evolving, always loud. So throw on your ripped flannel or your festival wristband—we're digging into the birth, the chaos, the reinventions, and the legacy of a festival that didn't just play the game—it rewrote it.
