Did you know that Sarah Elizabeth Doyle was an American educator and educational reformer for her roles in founding the Rhode Island School of Design and establishing women's education at Brown University? She served as secretary of the corporation to found RISD in 1877 and led the campaign to admit the first six female students to Brown in 1891. In 1895, she formed the Rhode Island Society for the Collegiate Education of Women. She was inducted into the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame in 2005. Ravenelle of Westminster Street in Westerly at the impressive age of 101. Born in Westerly, Antoinette was the beloved wife of the late Edmond Ravenelle for 73 years. She will be deeply missed by her loving sons, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Antoinette was a member of the Westerly High School Graduating class of 1938. Following high school, Antoinette became a loyal employee for The Moore Company where she worked 3rd shift for 40 years. Antoinette was married in 1943 to her sweetheart Ed. She participated in the World War II effort by assembling plane propellers at Hamilton Standard while her husband was deployed. Antoinette was a faithful parishioner of St. Pius X Church and an active member of the Legion of Mary where she lovingly cared for those in need. Antoinette was a faithful Red Sox fan and never missed a game. She had a strong faith, a generous heart, and an infectious love of Italian food. Antoinette was an incredible cook. Her house was always open and full of love, life, family and friends. Thank you for taking a moment with us today to remember and celebrate Antoinette's life.
