Our guest was the creator, as an editor, of the seminal magazine 2000AD, birthplace of Judge Dredd or his own character Sláine. He's also the co-creator of Ro-Busters, ABC Warriors or Nemesis The Warlock (these last two co-created by Kevin O'Neill). With Kevin he also co-created the satire Marshal Law. I'm talking, of course, about the great PAT MILLS! We've talked about life, comics, the editor and writer perspective and how they clash and connect, the comics' language, the craft, and many other things... OH! And Pat is currently working on his new series SpaceWarp, which We've also discussed at length, including potential new villains for the future! :) #DialogosdeComic #PatMills #SpaceWarp #MarshalLaw #Slaine #2000AD

A year after the launch of 2000 AD in 1977, publishers IPC decided to cash in on its success with a new stablemate - Starlord! With longer stories, better paper, and more colour, Starlord blazed into the firmament with its own eponymous editor as well as all-new stories such as Strontium Dog, Ro-Busters, and Mind Wars! But it was not to be, and after just 22 issues it was decided to merge the title into 2000 AD - a decision that arguably saved the older title as well as giving it two of its most popular ever strips. In a round table discussion to mark the forthcoming 40th anniversary of the launch of Starlord - as well as a special tribute in this year's Christmas Prog - 2000 AD editor Matt Smith and Treasury of British Comics editor Keith Richardson join 2000 AD PR droid Molch-R in the podcast sub-basement along with comics editor and journalist John Freeman to talk about Starlord's short existence, its impact at the time, and its on-going legacy for 2000 AD. In a desperate attempt to catch up the guys review three of the latest progs, 1638, 1639 and 1640. A tearful farewall is said to Zombo, everyone gets a little over excited at the prospect of Ro-Busters origins, and they decide that Cradlegrave is probably really good and they are just too dumb to get it.Prog 6 from 1977 and its deceptive cover are also looked at as is the graphic novel Kingdom : The Promised Land.As always, spoilers throughout and language not suitable for the kiddies.
