On this episode of Something To Wrestle with Bruce Prichard, host Conrad Thompson jumps back in the wayback machine for a special look back at our WrestleMania 17/18 episodes. WM 17 - What a crazy month for Vince McMahon. The XFL is tanking and NBC wants out of the deal, Jerry Lawler walked out, ECW files for bankruptcy, Paul Heyman needs a job, Vince has a meltdown on HBO, he acquires WCW, and oh by the way he's about to put on the biggest WrestleMania ever! Bruce and Conrad dig into all of these moving parts going on behind the scenes before what will be the most financially successful WrestleMania ever up until that point setting records in nearly every category. The show would feature a crazy hardcore match people remember to this day, the crazy McMahon family story, an unreal match between Benoit and Angle, perhaps one of the silliest battle royals in WWE history, the tag team match that created a highlight reel by itself and set the standard for TLCs to come, and a match between the two biggest icons in the business at the time with an ending that changed everything. The guys break down the business aspect of the show, the creative, and the regrets coming out of the show. Don't miss one of the most requested topics ever -- WrestleMania X-Seven! WM 18 - Bruce and Conrad go back 20 years to revisit WrestleMania X8, which took on March 17, 2002 at the Skydome in Toronto! In it, we'd see the famous "Icon vs. Icon" match between "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock! And boy, what a spectacle that was. Other topics include Scott Hall vs. Steve Austin, rumors of Sting, APA at Tim White's Friendly Tap, Jericho vs. Triple H, and much more! Special thanks to this week's sponsors! We are wild and young! We have just begun! Mr. McMahon announced 3 weeks ago that WWE ECW was no longer going to be on TV. In its place was the “Next Evolution Of WWE!” This new show was called WWE NXT and it would feature current WWE Superstars as Pros and current FCW wrestlers as Rookies. It was a competition show that would eventually feature a game show style format with such games as chugging soda! However, we look back on the very first episode of NXT that is centered around Daniel Bryan being an internet darling dork and him not getting along with his pro The Miz! The main event features a great match between Chris Jericho and Daniel Bryan with some terrific wrestling. We also get hype packages for most of the rookies to learn a little more about their characters. This was a wild experiment in television history, that for good or bad, will not be forgotten. Plus, the boys have another Top 5 Draft, this time about Fast Food establishments. Throughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. After an entertaining two first games of the Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament for the Ohio State women's basketball team, it came to an end Sunday in the finale. Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, they weren't bringing the tournament trophy on the plane ride home. The Scarlet & Gray suffered a second tough first half in a row, and unable to come back from a severly lopsided first two quarters. After the 105-72 defeat, head coach Kevin McGuff, guard Taylor Mikesell and forward Cotie McMahon spoke with the media. After a brief message by head coach Kevin McGuff, Mikesell and McMahon talk about how they can use this game as motivation, Mikesell addresses her final Big Ten game in her five-year career, with more basketball to play and McMahon discusses a moment in the game between herself and Iowa's Caitlin Clark that ended with an intentional foul call against McMahon. To end the press conference, head coach Kevin McGuff talks about both his end of the game and halftime speech to the team, Mikesell's final Big Ten game, the impact of fouls on the Buckeyes' gameplan, the growth of the conference and more. All that and more on the latest Land-Grant Uncut. Connect with Thomas: Twitter: @1ThomasCostello Theme music provided by www.bensound.com Learn more about your ad choices. Throughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. For the second year in a row, the Ohio State women's basketball team had to face a Michigan side to open their Big Ten Tournament. This time, it was bitter rivals in the Michigan Wolverines. After Ohio State beat the Wolverines 81-79, head coach Kevin McGuff and forwards Taylor Thierry and Cotie McMahon spoke with the media. Land-Grant Holy Land was live from Minneapolis, Minnesota to capture their comments. Up first are the players. Thierry and McMahon discussed their mindsets offensively, leading Ohio State with 48 combined points. Also, the impact of Jacy Sheldon returning to the team, providing a spark from the bench and what was going through their minds in the final seconds as the Buckeyes had a two-point lead with the Wolverines surging. Then comes coach McGuff. The coach discusses more about Sheldon's return and how it won't be easy to keep her off the court Saturday against the Indiana Hoosiers. Also, what McMahon's done that he hasn't seen for a long time, plus comments about the pace of play and how the Wolverines were successful at slowing things down in the second half. That and more in the latest Uncut. Connect with Thomas: Twitter: @1ThomasCostello Theme music provided by www.bensound.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

LSU head basketball coach Matt McMahon took on a huge mess taking over the job at LSU after Will Wade got fired in the spring of last year. He had to rebuild the roster and reshape the program from scratch. McMahon has stated several times that he knew it wasn't going to be easy and LSU fans knew that as well. In McMahon's first season he went 2-15 in SEC play and finished last in the conference. But again, LSU fans knew it wasn't going to be easy. We knew it was going to take time. But how much time exactly could it take? Jason Jordan, Locked On's official college basketball recruiting insider joins Locked On LSU host Caroline Fenton to break down McMahon's first year at LSU, how he can build for the future, and McMahon's strategy for taking LSU from worst to first in conference play throughout his tenure in Baton Rouge. This episode of the All Elite Aftershow Dailycast is a jam-packed show! Mike McMahon and Andrew Soucek begin by taking emails, and then they preview AEW Revolution. Topics from the emails include Kenny Omega going to WWE, who should AEW keep, TK's big announcement, and much more.
Is Vince McMahon slowly creeping himself back to WWE Creative? Why have their been more changes than originally reported for Wrestlemania 39 if Triple H had his plans already laid out? On today's Off the Script with JDfromNY, we explore the rumors and speculation surrounding Vince McMahon's involvement in the creative direction of Wrestlemania 39. Many fans have been speculating that McMahon has been heavily involved in the planning of the biggest event on WWE's calendar, leading to questions about the potential impact on the overall product, why strange creative decisions have been made, or changed, and the rumor that some within the company believe he is back in the creative department. We delve into the evidence and discuss the reasons behind these rumors, as well as what it could mean for the future of WWE. Also, Kenny Omega contract is a huge topic of discussion as WWE plans to go hard after Kenny Omega. As the current AEW Trios Champions with The Young Bucks, Omega's wrestling contract is set to expire soon, and he will have to make a crucial decision regarding his future. While the feeling in WWE is that signing Omega is a top priority for them, reports suggest that AEW has added time to his contract due to him missing action for nine months last year. However, the extended time frame hasn't been finalized yet. It remains to be seen what Omega will choose and if he will stick with The Young Bucks, who are also up for new contracts at the end of the year. WWE announces King and Queen of the Ring, FTR possibly leaving AEW after heat with the company becomes public on Twitter, and major news on the status of Jeff Hardy, and his DUI case.

If you love literary memoir by newly discovered Irish authors then have we got the book for you! Carmel Mc Mahon's In Ordinary Time is a revelation - a multi-layered exploration of memory, grief and addiction that mines the ways that trauma reverberates through time. From tragically lost siblings to the broader social scars of the Famine and the Magdalene Laundries, Carmel sketches the evolution of a consciousness – from her conservative 1970s upbringing to her emigrant's tale in New York in the 1990s, and back to the much-changed Ireland of today. This is a perfect book for anyone who enjoyed Emilie Pine's Notes to Self and Claire Keegan's Small Things Like These. [After an entertaining "inaugural" weekend of the XFL's third incarnation, we dig into the archives for this 2019 conversation with author Brett Forrest - and a rewind to the league's original season back in 2001!] As another NFL season closes, we shift gears toward the forthcoming Alliance of American Football – the first of two new leagues attempting to again extend the pro game into viable Spring season play – where the USFL, World League of American Football and NFL Europe have famously tried before. The other – both in 2001 and in a reincarnated form coming next year – was and is the XFL, which we finally sink our teeth into for the first time this week with Wall Street Journal national security reporter Brett Forrest (Long Bomb: How the XFL Became TV's Biggest Fiasco). We drop this episode on the 18th anniversary of when the audacious joint venture between the Vince McMahon-helmed World Wresting Federation (now WWE) and the Dick Ebersol-captained NBC Sports opened play at a raucous Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas to see the hometown Outlaws battle the already-villainous New York/New Jersey Hitmen in front of a national primetime television audience. Nearly two decades later, most who witnessed it (not to mention the tumultuous season that followed) still don't know what to make of it. Forrest digs into: the process of tackling his then-first-ever book assignment with Long Bomb (including the pre-season magazine article from which it came); some of the curious characters (the seemingly-legitimizing presence of Dick Butkus, the unwitting marketing genius of Rod “He Hate Me” Smart, the hungry group of eager players simply wanting one last shot at playing pro football) he encountered along the way; and the less-than-enthusiastic response of McMahon to the idea of a book about the league in the first place. Be sure to check out the great XFL shirts and replica jerseys from our friends at 503 Sports!

After the 67-55 Thursday night victory, head coach Kevin McGuff, guard Rikki Harris and forward Cotie McMahon spoke to the media. In the latest Uncut Podcast, coach McGuff breaks down an all-around sloppy victory for the Buckeyes, including a fourth quarter where the Nittany Lions cut their 29-point deficit down to 12 points, thanks to 18 points by guard Makenna Marisa. McGuff also discusses a big night for Harris, McMahon leading the charge for Ohio State and the strategy of guard Taylor Mikesell who defenses aren't allowing to find any open space offensively. Harris talks about getting back into a good shooting rhythm in only her fourth mulitple three-point shot game of the season, adjusting to Mikesell's limited productivity and getting back into winning before the final week of the season. McMahon finishes things up talking about her double-double, what went wrong defensively in the fourth quarter and where the Buckeyes go from here with games against the No. 12 Michigan Wolverines and No. 8 Maryland Terrapins in the last week of the regular season. Shamima Begum left the UK in 2015. Now, for the first time, we have a better idea of what she might have been doing in the four years between then and her re-appearance in a camp in Syria in 2019. We know that she has married an IS fighter, had three children and lost three children in the last eight years – but what else happened? Nuala McGovern is joined by the BBC's Josh Baker, host of the podcast I'm Not A Monster: The Shamima Begum Story and Dr Gina Vale, a lecturer of Criminology at the University of Southampton who specialises in terrorism. Danielle Deadwyler's extraordinary portrayal of the civil rights activist Mamie Till-Mobley in Chinonye Chukwu's Till (2022) has earned her a BAFTA nomination for Best Leading Actress. The film tells the true story of Mamie's pursuit of justice after her 14-year-old son, Emmett Till, was tortured and lynched in 1955. Mamie insists that the casket containing her son's brutalised body be left open to show the nation what was done to him. Danielle joins Nuala McGovern to discuss grief, Mamie's legacy, and the ongoing fight for civil rights. As low-slung trousers come back into fashion and high-waists are all the rage we ask how fashion, age and generation determine where our trousers sit and how we feel about it. It took years, and a bitter struggle with alcohol addiction, to unpick the intricate traumas of her past and present. Carmel has now written a book, In Ordinary Time: Fragments of a Family History. Some of the top seniors in college football gathered in Mobile, Alabama last week to show off their talents and skills to NFL coaches and general managers at the Senior Bowl. Two of those players were LSU Tigers DL Ali Gaye and S Jay Ward. In the Senior Bowl, Ali Gaye sacked Fresno State QB Jake Haener for a loss of nine yards and Ward had four tackles. But the most important impressions made on prospective NFL front office members is made throughout practices and drills during the week. How has Gaye and Ward's draft stock shifted since this past week? Where can we expect two NFLSU hopefuls to go in the NFL Draft? Plus, an article in The Athletic highlighted a study that showed between 2017-2020, more than 70 percent of the top 50 quarterbacks in high school transferred away from the school in which they originally committed. For quarterbacks who didn't start in either year one or year two, that rate increased exponentially. So what does that mean for LSU, both with the quarterback room currently in place and for the quarterbacks of the future? Are these changes and trends in college football avoidable, or are coaches now just forced to adapt? Finally, Matt McMahon and the LSU basketball team have now reached double-digits in consecutive losses as they dropped their tenth game in a row against Alabama, falling 79-69 on Saturday. Do LSU basketball fans have any hope remaining for this season? If not for this season, what kind of hope remains for the future of the McMahon era? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
