So the question among many is basically, do we have a burden for America? I know we are concerned, I know we see the wickedness pressing in on Christianity, but does it burden our hearts as we note here in Habakkuk? Is there a grief in our soul as we see the signs of the unrighteous prevailing, in laws being changed, more power to the wicked and less respect for God? Hab 1:5 "Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvelously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you."

The problem of evil, its existence and how God will solve it, is a problem that will evade our understanding forever. We are also, thankfully, not the first to ask such questions. How can God allow evil? Why does he not abolish it forever? What’s more, why does he use evil in the world, even if it is to bring about that which is good? Habakkuk has these same questions, and yet the answers that he gets are not the answers he desires. Nevertheless, he is content to simply trust in the Lord to work good through their wickedness. Can we say the same?
What do you with your questions and doubts? Ignore them? Allow them to destroy your faith? The prophet Habakkuk gives us a model for how honest wrestling with God can lead to greater hope. In this message, Pastor Scott Savage shows how our hope can grow through wrestling with and embracing God.

There's a lot we can learn from the burden and subsequent joyful perspective of the minor prophet Habakkuk. He lived in a time where he saw the rapid decline of a godly culture and wondered aloud if God heard their prayers or cared for God any longer. After God declares to his the upcoming further difficulty of Chaldean oppression and gives him the remedy for enduring that trial - to live by faith - Habakkuk's attitude turns to joy as he places faith in God despite the difficulty of his external surroundings.
God has given us all the freedom of choice. In the book of Habakkuk the people of God had made the choice to live a life away from God. We can't control the choices of others nor can we control God, but we can control our own choices. Choose to draw close to God and reflect upon His power, His greatness, and His goodness! Resolve to praise Him in 2017 no matter the circumstances because we can live without everything else, but we cannot live without the Lord!
