Stephen's martyrdom shows us what true discipleship looks like: responding to hatred with love, forgiving our enemies and seeing others through God's eyes. In our polarized world, we're called to drop our stones and embrace the radical way of Jesus.

When we are hurt by someone, we typically respond either passively or vengefully. Neither way brings peace. The only satisfying way to respond to hurt is to draw near to God. When we do, a number of alternatives open to us. We can intercede for those sinning against us. We can surrender our right to judge them to God. We can ask for healing and/or restoration. This prayer reflex only happens when we abide in Christ and are filled by His Holy Spirit. Would you watch and hear Dr. Sams remind us how the Gospel helps us in one of life's most challenging tasks: dealing with hurt.
