One of the coolest lines from Proverbs describes what Wisdom has been doing from the beginning: "[T]hen I was beside him, like a master worker, and I was daily his delight, playing before him always, playing in his inhabited world and delighting in the human race" (Proverbs 8:30-31). Wisdom's playfulness and delight model for us a holy call to play in this world, even amongst its seriousness.Listen in to find out more! What if the biggest threat to Christian education isn't coming from the left—but from Christians themselves? In this eye-opening episode of Refining Rhetoric, attorney and author Kevin R. Novak drops a bombshell that will make you rethink everything about school choice, vouchers, and education reform. While most Christians celebrate getting "their tax dollars back" through ESA programs, Novak argues they're actually participating in socialism and expanding the very system they claim to oppose. Drawing from biblical principles of jurisdiction and constitutional law, Novak makes the case that civil government has zero authority over education—period. He reveals how school choice programs are driving up costs, why property taxes for schools are unconstitutional, and how the "Christian establishment" is gatekeeping a true education revival. From dispensationalists to pietists, Novak names the theological movements that got us here and explains why the solution isn't reforming public schools—it's abolishing them entirely. Never Walk Alone | The Holy Spirit and the Church (Week 1) | John 14:16–19, 26–27In the first message of our new series The Holy Spirit and the Church, we explore Jesus' promise that we are never alone. In John 14, He assures His disciples—and us—that the Holy Spirit will come to live with us and in us, guiding, comforting, and empowering us every step of the way.Whether you're facing uncertainty, fear, or simply feeling isolated, this message reminds us of the powerful truth: we never walk alone. The Spirit of God is present, active, and closer than we think.
Oswald Chambers wrote: “If we are going to live as disciples of Jesus, we have to remember that all efforts of worth and excellence are difficult. The Christian life is gloriously difficult, but its difficulty does not make us faint and cave in— it stirs us up to overcome. Do we appreciate the miraculous salvation of Jesus Christ enough to be our utmost for His highest— our best for His glory?” Mike and Rebekah discuss the need to persevere during tough times and circumstances.

From the crowd shouting “Crucify Him!” in Mark 15, to Joshua's bold call, “Choose this day whom you will serve,” to King Agrippa's near-conversion in Acts 26—Scripture reminds us that every heart stands at a crossroads. In this episode, we reflect on the urgency of choosing Jesus—not someday, but today. Indecision is still a decision. Delayed obedience is still disobedience. The question isn't just historical—it's personal: Will you follow Him, or walk away? Don't wait. The choice is yours… and it matters for eternity.

Eighth Sunday after Pentecost Bible Readings Luke 12:13–21, Colossians 3:1–11 Worship Folder Pastor Paul A. Tullberg Sermon text: Ecclesiastes 1:1-2,12–14; 2:18-26 1The words of Ecclesiastes, David's son, king in Jerusalem. 2“Nothing but vapor,” Ecclesiastes said. “Totally vapor. Everything is just vapor that vanishes.” 12 I, Ecclesiastes, have been king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 I applied my heart to seek out and explore with wisdom everything done under the sky. (What a burdensome task God has given the children of Adam to keep them busy!) 14 I have seen all the actions done under the sun, and, look, it is all nothing but vapor. It is all chasing the wind. 18 I also hated all the results of my hard work, for which I worked so hard under the sun, since I must leave it all to the man who comes after me. 19 And who knows—will he be wise, or a fool? Yet he will have control over all the results of my hard work, for which I worked so hard and so wisely, under the sun. This too is vapor that vanishes.20 So I changed my course, and my heart began to despair over all my hard work at which I worked so hard under the sun. 21 Sure, there may be a man who has worked hard—wisely, aptly, and skillfully. But he must hand over whatever he accumulated by all his hard work to a man who has not worked hard for it. This too is vapor. It's so unfair! 22 For what does a man gain through all his hard work, through all the turmoil in his heart, as he works so hard under the sun? 23 Pain fills all his days. His occupation is frustration. Even at night his heart does not rest. This too is vapor. 24 There is nothing better for a man than to eat and to drink and to find joy in his work. This too, I saw, is from God's hand. 25 For who can eat or enjoy himself apart from Him? 26 Yes, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and happiness to the man whom He considers good, but to the person who goes on sinning God gives the task of gathering and collecting, but only so that he can give it all to a person whom God considers good. This too is vapor, nothing but chasing wind. The Holy Bible, Evangelical Heritage Version®, EHV®, © 2019 Wartburg Project, Inc. All rights reserved. Reformed Brotherhood | Sound Doctrine, Systematic Theology, and Brotherly Love
In this episode of the Reformed Brotherhood, Jesse and Tony dive deep into Martin Luther's contrasting theological concepts: the Theology of Glory and the Theology of the Cross. Beginning with a reflection on how the Theology of Glory prioritizes human strength, reason, and achievement, they explore how this perspective can mislead Christians into seeking God through displays of power and visible success. Instead, they emphasize that Luther's Theology of the Cross reveals God's power most profoundly in weakness, suffering, and humility. The conversation highlights how the Theology of Glory often leads to arrogance, misplaced priorities, and a misunderstanding of God's nature and work in the world. Drawing from Scripture, the hosts demonstrate how the Gospel flips the world's values upside down, showing that true Christian power lies in self-sacrifice, service, and dependence on Christ. They also discuss contemporary examples of how the Theology of Glory manifests in modern Christian movements, including megachurch culture, prosperity theology, and even personal pride within small church leadership. Jesse and Tony challenge listeners to examine their own lives and ministries in light of the Theology of the Cross. They encourage believers to adopt an attitude of humility, servanthood, and dependence on God's grace, rather than striving for worldly success or recognition. This episode is a timely reminder that the Christian life is not about glory as the world defines it, but about finding strength in weakness and victory in the cross of Christ. Key Points: Theology of Glory vs. Theology of the Cross: Luther's framework contrasts human-centered religion, which seeks God in power and success, with the Gospel's revelation of God through weakness and suffering. Modern Examples of the Theology of Glory: Prosperity theology, megachurch culture, and some expressions of Christian nationalism illustrate how this mindset persists today. The Power of Humility and Weakness: The Theology of the Cross calls Christians to embrace servanthood and suffering as reflections of Christ's work on the cross. Scriptural Foundations: The hosts reference key Scriptures, such as Philippians 2 and Luke 10, to show how God's kingdom operates differently from human expectations. Practical Applications: Listeners are encouraged to reflect on their own lives and avoid the pitfalls of pride and self-reliance, instead embracing a Christ-centered approach to faith and ministry. Questions for Reflection: How does the Theology of Glory manifest in your own life or church context? In what ways does the Theology of the Cross challenge your understanding of power and success? How can you cultivate humility and servanthood in your daily walk with Christ? Are there areas in your life where you tend to rely on human wisdom or strength instead of God's grace? How does understanding God's power in weakness bring comfort and transformation to your faith? Citations: John Calvin, Commentary on the Gospel According to John, trans. Michael Kelley preaches from Philippians 4. As Paul brings his letter to the Philippians to a close, he provides instruction without exceptions. The Christian life should be marked by unconditional rejoicing, unconditional gentleness, unconditional prayer, and unconditional peace. Grace Community Church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. The corporate nature of this gathering is both edifying to the believer and a witness of God's grace to the world. Sermon speaker is Scott Patty unless otherwise noted.
In this sermon from Rev. Benjamin Kandt, part of NewCity Orlando's Preach Your Heart Out series, we are invited to reflect on the profound mercy and patience of God shown in the life of the Apostle Paul. Preaching from 1 Timothy 1:12–17, Rev. Kandt highlights Paul's personal testimony as a model of God's transforming grace. Once a persecutor of the church, Paul becomes a prime example of someone radically changed by the gospel—demonstrating that no one is beyond the reach of Christ's love.Rev. Kandt explores how this passage stirs us to humility and gratitude, reminding us that the Christian life is not grounded in merit but in mercy. Paul's response—worshiping God as King eternal—becomes a call for us to do the same: to live lives shaped by grace and to proclaim that same grace to a world in need of redemption. This message is both deeply personal and widely applicable, encouraging listeners to anchor their confidence in the unshakable faithfulness of God.

In this video, John Piper opens Galatians 6:14 and proclaims the cross of Christ as the only thing worth boasting in. He calls Christians to live lives shaped by Calvary—where every joy and trial is seen as a blood-bought mercy, and every purpose is surrendered to God's glory. The message is clear: don't waste your life on what won't last.
