In small towns and rural areas across the south of the United States traditional family churches have long been key guardians of black culture, memory and community spirit. Until very recently women called to preach in these communities faced opposition ranging from grudging acceptance at best to total ostracisation. But now an increasing number of women are winning acceptance as preachers, pastors and community leaders in Baptist and United Methodist Churches, becoming the vital glue which binds changing, rural black communities together.Alvin Hall asks some of these women about the lengths they have gone to to follow their calling, driving hundreds of miles to carry the word of God in touring ministries reminiscent of the male Circuit Riders of Alvin's childhood. Today's Headlines: President Donald Trump kicked off a fresh round of global chaos with late-night posts about the U.S. taking over Greenland, plus screenshots of flattering texts from French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO's Mark Rutte. The posts landed as world leaders gathered in Davos, where Canada's Prime Minister warned the global order is facing a “rupture, not a transition.”  Macron later declined to join Trump's proposed “Board of Peace,” prompting Trump to threaten a 200% tariff on French wine and champagne. Denmark announced it's sending more troops to Greenland, and Greenland's prime minister told residents to prepare for a possible invasion, signaling Europe is taking the threat seriously. Back in the US, the Archbishop overseeing the American military said troops could be morally justified in refusing unlawful orders, adding to growing backlash over the administration's use of military force. Markets finally reacted: the Dow dropped about 800 points as stocks slid and investors fled to bonds amid rising trade and geopolitical uncertainty. The Justice Department issued subpoenas to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey over immigration enforcement, while new data shows deaths in ICE custody hit a record high last year. A new study confirmed Trump's tariffs are paid almost entirely by U.S. businesses and consumers. Out of God's good order described in Genesis 2, the devil begins to work disorder in Genesis 3. He cunningly tempts the woman to question God's Word before blatantly claiming that God's Word is evil and false. Although the woman initially recalls God's Word, she is deceived into believing the devil's lie, and her husband shockingly sins right along with her. The effects are disastrous, but the LORD God is quick with His mercy. He calls His children to repentance, and He promises that He will send the Offspring of the woman to suffer for His people and so defeat sin, death, and devil.  Rev.
