Dairy farmers are remaining resilient as they manage their way through H5N1 in dairy cattle and respond to natural disasters that have devastated farms, NMPF Chairman Randy Mooney said in remarks at the organization's annual meeting.“Farming is hard. I said that. We all know that. But when you get hit with weather events like hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, droughts, the list goes on and on, unexpected costs, that makes it even harder,” Mooney said in his remarks Oct. 22. “You get hit with things like bird flu that a year ago we didn't even know was a problem,” he continued. “And if you've been hit by one of these either weather event or something really unexpected, my heart goes out to you. These things are difficult. It puts strains on farms, put strains on families, put strains on financials.”“Everything we do, the future is going to take a level of cooperation and coordination from all of us. And we've had that, but it's going to take more than we've ever had,” said Mooney, a Dairy Farmers of America member-owner who farms near Rogersville, MO. “I continue to be inspired by all of you and the work that you're doing. Amid great change and preparation for the future, we are still part of the greatest industry that there is.Mooney also talks about the 2024 Farm Bill, efforts to modernize milk pricing, labor shortages and dairy' need to promote exports.

In this episode of Expanded Perspectives, the guys kick things off by chatting about the warm weather and Kyle's recent experience watching the new Candyman movie, among other things. Then, they dive into a series of strange encounters, starting with a woman from Missouri who, along with her friend and brother, recalls a chilling encounter with a massive, pig-faced dog they spotted near their childhood home. Next, they explore the fascinating and unsettling story of Bruce Cornet, M.S., Ph.D., one of two witnesses allegedly abducted by unknown entities near the Massanutten Mountain ski resort in Virginia. Cornet, a long-time AOP researcher and contributor to the National Institute for Discovery Science, brings a unique perspective to the strange events that occurred that evening. After the break, Cam delves into haunting tales of alien abduction—stories where the line between nightmare and reality blurs. These eerie encounters raise a troubling question: What do these extraterrestrial beings want from us? While many focus on cold, clinical experiments, there seems to be a darker, more disturbing purpose behind many abductions—impregnation. And it's not just women who are subjected to these unearthly tasks; men, too, are drawn into an unimaginable role. Alien abductions, once dismissed as fantasy or hoax, may represent recovered memories—fragments of truth that are often bizarre, unsettling, and hard to believe. The challenge of distinguishing between real memories and false ones has long troubled psychiatrists and abductees alike, especially as these claims echo the controversial cases involving childhood trauma, satanic cults, and other difficult-to-prove experiences. Finally, Cam shares one of the wildest stories ever told on the show: a man from Rogersville, PA, recounts an extraordinary encounter he and his two brothers had with three strange 'Dogwomen.' Incredibly, one of the brothers even fed these mysterious creatures! All of this and more on this installment of Expanded Perspectives! A recent survey found that nearly a quarter of middle school students and a third of high school students feel they don't belong. This conversation explores the concept of belonging uncertainty and its impact on students' well-being and academic success. The guests discuss the importance of creating a sense of belonging in schools and offer strategies for addressing this issue. They emphasize the need for adults to have conversations about identity, race, gender, and sexual orientation with students, and to validate their experiences. Small interventions, such as assigning buddies to new students and using value-affirmation activities, can also help reduce belonging uncertainty. This week we're happy to welcome Tim Lewis to the studio, a first-time dad to a four-month-old. Join us as Tim shares the scary story of when baby Ophelia got sick with RSV around the end of last year. After initially going to Mercy in Springfield, doctors later needed to airlift Ophelia to an ER in Kansas City. Tim also provides his wisdom for new parents and discusses the importance of being on the same page to work collaboratively with your partner.  Our Guest: Tim Lewis  Tim Lewis is a barber by occupation and is a new dad to Ophelia, who was born in September 2023. Tim, his wife, Chelsea, Ophelia and Boone the dog live in Rogersville, MO. For a long time, Tim and Chelsea never imagined wanting kids, but their attitudes changed in their early 40s.   Show Notes (4:28) My advice to younger people is: If you're not sure, enjoy your youth a little bit. Your freedom is minimized once you have a child. (6:10) She developed a little bit of a cough, and we just kept an eye on it. And then it was, like, 'Nah, she needs to go do the doctor.' And they basically test kids just like they do for COVID. It's a pretty quick little swab. (9:33) I wasn't afraid for her life—I really felt she would be okay—but when the flight nurses came in and basically strapped my 13-pound child to a gurney-looking thing and took her away ... Which, my wife was with her, but, you know, it was just terrifying. (17:55) She's always a pretty happy kid. She really started all that at about three months. But she's also a very impatient, cranky child ... How do you go from grinning at me, and two seconds later you're squalling?!     The Good Dads Blog

NMPF Chairman Randy Mooney, a dairy farmer outside Rogersville, MO, said the spirit of collaboration and facing challenges head on, embodied in the cooperative model, will give dairy strength in the years to come. He spoke on Oct. 25 at NMPF's annual meeting in Denver. “This is an exciting time in our industry,” Mooney said. “What we do on our farms and in our communities is important, how we do it is important, and it's important that we stay at the forefront of this revolution, never settling for status quo, thinking differently, and seizing the opportunities.”

HARRISON KENNEDY was awarded the 2016 “Blues Album of the Year” JUNO for his album “This Is From Here”.  This was the 6th nomination for the Hamilton, ON. based artist. Now comes his latest album Thanks for Tomorrow Harrison Kennedy was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario.  His family had roots in New Orleans and Tennessee,[ Kennedy sang in the Stewart Memorial Church Choir as a boy, when childhood trips took him over the border to visit relations in Arkansas, Rogersville, Tennessee,[9] and Detroit, Illinois, United States, and all these experiences expanded his love of music.,  The other border his family crossed was the Canadian border. They decided to stay and live there. Harrison grew up in a house filled with music and famous visitors such as Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, and Lonnie Johnson. In 1969 he took a hiatus from college to become a founding member of the million-selling Detroit Soul Super Group “The Chairmen of the Board” with whom he toured the world, as well as appearing on Soul Train, American Bandstand, and the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Harrison Kennedy has released almost a dozen internationally acclaimed albums and developed into one of the 21st century's most insightful and original Blues singer/songwriters. To quote my friend Tom Coxworth  For anyone not familiar with Harrison Kennedy, he has been nominated for 12 Maple Blues awards and 4 Junos and was touted by BB King as Canada's premier Blues performer We're going to talk to Harrison about his family, his spirituality and his music!!

On June 15, 2021, five-year-old Summer Wells was enjoying a beautiful day with her family. The little girl was helping her mother and grandmother plant flowers at their rural Rogersville, Tennessee home. But, like most little kids, she eventually grew tired of this activity and wanted to go back into the house and play with her toys. Her mom walked her back into the house, where her three older brothers were. Summer's mother went back outside for just a few minutes, but when she returned home, her daughter was gone. What follows is a baffling case filled with accusations, conspiracy theories, and arrests, but no sign of Summer. If you have any information regarding the disappearance of Summer Wells, please contact the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office at 423-272-7121.Si tiene información sobre la desaparición de Summer Wells, comuníquese con la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Hawkins al 423-272-7121.We are proud members of Spreaker Prime and The Darkcast Network.Research for this episode is by Kat Morris of the Active Shooter Podcast.Find us everywhere: https://linktr.ee/attwgpodGet episodes early and ad-free on Patreon: https://patreon.com/attwgpodMerch store: https://www.teepublic.com/stores/attwgpodFor a full list of our sources, please visit our blog: https://andthentheyweregone.com/blogThis week's promo is from Gone But Not Forgotten: A podcast that tells mostly Canadian true crime stories. Often times, various life changes can take us away from where we grew up. For Coach Brian Puckett, his career path has taken him from Rogersville, Alabama, but it will always be his home. One thing I love is when people leave where they consider home, but go back to give back to the place that meant so much to them. On Saturday, Coach Puckett, who is now the head strength and conditioning coach for LSU Basketball, made the over seven hour trip (he had a grand total of 30 hours to spare) from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Rogersville to share some of his experiences and knowledge with Lauderdale County High School athletes. I had the opportunity to have not only Coach Puckett on the show, but his mom, Amy, as well to share about his path from Rogersville to Baton Rouge. Listen & share.
