EPISODE 450: Why are you still stuck in the middle of everything, even with the best tools, a solid team, and steady projects coming in? In this episode, Todd DeWalt sits down with Eric Fortenberry, founder and CEO of JobTread, to dig into the real reasons contractors stay under-profitable and overworked, and what it takes to finally get off the hamster wheel. ⚡Schedule a Business Evaluation Call with The Construction Leading Edge Team: HERE
Most entrepreneurs believe growth is about working harder, Eric Fortenberry believes it's about building better. What started as a mission to help one construction company has grown into a platform serving thousands of contractors across the industry. But despite the growth, the message remains the same: great businesses aren't built by doing everything yourself. In this conversation with Steve, Eric shares why delegation, strong systems, and the right community are the keys to scaling a profitable business without losing yourself in the process. Because if you want to keep up, you have to level up. And the contractors who embrace change today will be the ones setting the standard tomorrow. __________________________________ https://steverozenberg.com/ __________________________________ Steve Rozenberg, originally aspiring to be an international pilot, navigated a challenging shift in his career trajectory when the 9/11 attacks jeopardized his pilot career. On the Contacts Coaching podcast, host interviews Melissa Fortenberry, founder of Heat Sense, about proactively monitoring heat strain in athletes to prevent heat illness. Fortenberry, a former Texas athlete and tech professional, describes being sick during a 107-degree football game and researching why existing guidelines focus on symptoms, meaning athletes are already ill once dizziness or nausea appears. She explains limitations of heat index and wet bulb globe temperature for team decisions because athletes differ in hydration and acclimation, and argues core body temperature is the key metric, though gold-standard measurement is rectal thermometry. Heat Sense uses a Swiss wearable (bicep/chest) plus heart rate to estimate core temperature within about 1°C, flag rising heat strain trends via an app and team dashboard, and support cooling interventions. They discuss adoption models, rotating sensors to identify sensitive athletes, EAP planning, and “cool first, transport second” protocols.00:00 Welcome and Guest Intro00:32 Melissa's Origin Story02:05 107 Degrees Spark03:44 Why Heat Guidelines Fail06:05 Core Temp Monitoring Tech08:31 Accuracy and Thresholds12:00 Cooling Protocols in Practice13:03 Practice Risks and Acclimation16:17 App Dashboard and Pricing17:33 Adoption for Schools and Clubs20:27 Parent Checklist and EAP21:42 Cooling First Transport Second22:18 Regional Risk and Humidity23:57 Where to Learn More24:10 Wrap Up and Takeawayshttps://heatsense.com/
Andrea always dreamed of motherhood, but reality brought unexpected challenges and self-doubt. Struggling with frustration, she turned to faith, counseling, and community to find hope and healing. Now, she shares her story to encourage moms feeling overwhelmed, reminding them that it's okay to ask for help, care for themselves, and trust God in every season. Her journey offers practical wisdom for finding spiritual nourishment, building supportive connections, and letting go of perfection. Andrea's message reassures every mom: you are not alone, and God is faithfully walking with you through every stage of motherhood.
Send us Fan Mail Most mothers do not arrive at burnout in some big dramatic crisis. They arrive at it in the middle of a Tuesday. A forgotten form. A meltdown in the cereal aisle. Leftovers for dinner again. And underneath all of it, a quiet, exhausting belief that perfection is somehow possible if you just try a little harder. Yusuf sits down with Andrea Fortenberry, host of The Perfectionist's Guide to Mothering podcast and author of Two-Minute Timeouts for New Moms, to talk about what grace actually looks like in the middle of an ordinary day. They cover the difference between being a good mother and being seen as one, why rest is not selfish, and the one sentence every mother can say to herself when the day has not gone to plan. About the Guest: Andrea Fortenberry is a speaker, podcast host, and author with a relatable, faith-filled voice for moms walking through the mess and beauty of motherhood. She is the host of The Perfectionist's Guide to Mothering podcast and the author of Two-Minute Timeouts for New Moms: 100 Devotions for Weary and Wonderful Days. Her writing and speaking blend heartfelt honesty with hope, biblical wisdom, and practical encouragement, drawn from her own lived experience as a mother. Key Takeaways: Perfection in motherhood is a comparison illusion. We compare our messy reality to other people's curated highlight reel and forget everyone is leaving the hard parts out. We often compare our weaknesses to someone else's strengths. That is never a fair comparison, and it quietly drains the joy out of motherhood. Wanting to be a good mom is rooted in love. Wanting to be seen as a good mom is rooted in fear. The difference matters more than most of us realise. A mess-up does not make you a bad mom. It means you had a bad mom moment. Those are not the same thing. Rest is not selfish. You cannot keep pouring from an empty pitcher. Taking time to refill is one of the most loving things you can do for your family. Grace does not ask you to add more. It asks you to do less, with more presence. That is a quiet revolution. Have you ever wondered, “Am I the only one who feels this overwhelmed?” Or quietly questioned if you’re doing any of this motherhood thing “right”? In this week’s episode of The Love Offering Podcast, I had the sweetest conversation with Andrea Fortenberry—author of Two Minute Timeouts for New Moms—and I think her words will feel like a deep breath for your soul. Andrea gently reminds us that motherhood is both beautiful and hard. From the sleepless newborn days to the bittersweet seasons of letting go, every stage carries its own mix of joy and stretching. And yet, in all of it, you are not alone—and you were never meant to do this on your own. We talked about:• Why so many moms feel overwhelmed and isolated (and the truth that sets us free)• How pride can quietly keep us from asking for the help we truly need• Letting go of perfectionism and embracing “good enough” motherhood• Finding meaningful moments with God—even in the middle of a full, busy day• Releasing mom guilt and receiving God’s grace for yourself One of my favorite reminders from our conversation is this: God knows your season. He sees the late nights, the messy middle, the quiet prayers whispered in the bathroom, and He meets you right there with love and grace. If your heart feels a little tired or stretched thin, I pray this episode encourages you to pause, breathe, and remember that you are doing better than you think. And if a friend comes to mind who might need this encouragement too, would you share it with her? Sometimes the smallest encouragement can make the biggest difference. You are deeply loved, friend, and what you’re doing matters more than you know. Is voting in the United States as secure as we think… or are there gaps no one’s talking about? In this episode, Avi Fortenberry—a naturalized U.S. citizen and advocate for election integrity—joins the show to break down one simple but surprisingly complex question: Who should be allowed to vote in federal elections? What starts as a conversation about voter ID quickly turns into something much bigger. Avi explains why she believes the real issue isn’t just enforcement laws like the SAVE Act—but the fact that the U.S. Constitution itself doesn’t explicitly define that only citizens can vote in federal elections. From loopholes in local vs. federal voting rules… to the push for a constitutional amendment that would permanently clarify voter eligibility… this episode dives into: Why this issue has rare bipartisan support The difference between short-term legislation and permanent constitutional change Concerns around election integrity, enforcement, and accessibility What it actually means to become a U.S. citizen—and why that matters in this conversation Whether you agree or disagree, this is a conversation about something deeper than politics: Trust in the system itself. And if that trust disappears… what replaces it? Ready to JOIN THE FIGHT? Melissa Fortenberry is the Founder and CEO of HeatSense, a groundbreaking wearable technology company dedicated to monitoring heat strain in young athletes to enhance safety in extreme conditions. With over 25 years in consumer tech at companies like Expedia, RVShare, and Philips, she pivoted to sports innovation after a personal experience at her son's 107°F football game in Texas, where she realized the gaps in traditional heat management—focusing on environment-only metrics rather than individual responses. As a mother of three kids in outdoor sports, Melissa developed HeatSense to integrate core temperature, skin temperature, heart rate, and Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) data, providing real-time insights for coaches to adjust training loads, prevent risks, and maintain performance. Her work shifts youth sports from reactive to proactive safety, empowering parents with transparency and athletes with feedback. Go behind the scenes of two iconic roles — and the wild ride in between — as Michael J. Fox joins longtime collaborator and co-author Nelle Fortenberry to discuss their new book, Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through the Space-Time Continuum. In the early months of 1985, Michael J. Fox did the impossible: starring in Family Ties by day, and filming Back to the Future by night. These two leading roles established him as a towering talent — Family Ties' Reagan-loving, tie-wearing teenager Alex P. Keaton defined a generation of TV viewers with his quick wit and conservative swagger, while Back to the Future's Marty McFly became a cinematic archetype: instantly recognizable, charismatic, and endlessly enduring in popular culture. The result was a time-bending stretch of work that would define Fox's career. Told with all of Michael J. Fox's warmth, wit and self-awareness, Future Boy is the untold story of that unprecedented time — and of the creative energy, ambition, and joy that fueled both projects. Don't miss this special conversation with Fox and Fortenberry as they revisit those extraordinary months and share insights and reflections on an unforgettable moment in entertainment history.

Housing vouchers provide critical assistance to low-income renters, but roughly 40% of vouchers go unused, in part due to difficulty finding landlords to accept them. Vincent Reina shares findings from a pilot program that instead gives cash assistance directly to tenants.Abstract: This article examines a new rental assistance program in Philadelphia, called PHLHousing+, that disburses unconditional cash payments directly to tenants to eliminate their housing cost burden. The program is designed as a 2.5-year randomized controlled trial that aims to test the impact of direct- to-tenant cash assistance on household outcomes compared with traditional housing vouchers. The motivations for the program range from the need for more flexible tools that respond to the diverse needs of low-income renters to the desire for a robust evidence base on effective policies to improve household outcomes. The article also discusses the evolution of the idea behind PHLHousing+ before the COVID-19 pandemic through to its development, using knowledge obtained from upscaling local pandemic emergency rental assistance programs. Finally, the article describes the program's implementation, including participant enrollment, strategies to minimize benefits loss, and cash disbursement mechanisms. On February 9, 2020, 31-year-old Zach Fortenberry departed from his residence in Bonney Lake, Washington, embarking on a journey that would lead to an unsettling mystery. A few days later, his vehicle was discovered in the nearby town of Carbonado, with the keys still inside and a half tank of gas remaining. The car was parked close to a bridge that crosses the turbulent waters of the Carbon River, yet there was no sign of Zach. Despite extensive searches and investigations, he seemed to have vanished without a trace, leaving his loved ones in a state of confusion and despair as they grappled with the absence of any leads or evidence regarding his fate. The circumstances surrounding Zach's disappearance are shrouded in intrigue, with a backdrop of questionable characters and peculiar clues that have emerged over time. His family is left to navigate a complex web of uncertainty, compounded by a history that raises more questions than answers. Each day that passes without news only deepens their anguish, as they cling to hope while facing the harsh reality of his unexplained absence. The emotional toll on his family is profound, as they yearn for closure and the chance to understand what truly happened to Zach.If you possess any information regarding Zach Fortenberry's disappearance, you are urged to reach out to the Bonney Lake Police Department at 253-863-2218. Your assistance could be pivotal in helping his family find the answers they desperately seek, bringing them one step closer to understanding the mystery that has enveloped their lives since that fateful day.Tonight we are joined by his family as they tells Michaels story,

Do you find yourself feeling “stuck” in the hard seasons of life? Maybe you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, confused, alone or simply not sure how to survive one more day in the space you find yourself today. If I am describing you, know that you are not alone and in God's grace and kindness, He has a special word, especially for you today. My guest today is Lauren Fortenberry. Lauren is a writer and speaker with a passion to fearlessly and faithfully encourage women through the love of Jesus Christ. Her desire is to point every Sister's heart to God's promises and healing. This desire and passion was born out of a very hard season in her own life. Today, she shares her journey through that season and the beautiful way the Lord met her there and began to teach her daily more about Who He is and what He promises - and it all started with a single prayer. She is the Author of One Prayer Away, an inspirational and encouraging devotional book written in poetic form that daily points you to the freedom that can be found in Christ. Lauren states: “When you cannot see the road ahead. When you wonder if the hurt is beyond healing. When you are at the edge of what your heart can handle. Whether you are struggling or seeking, flying or failing - God is with you! You can trust Him to hold you through it all.” As you hear Lauren share her story today, it is our prayer that the Lord would use her words to bring peace, encouragement and healing to your soul and most importantly remind you that you never walk a single second of this life alone. He is with you. He is for you. He is holding you and He is not wasting a moment of the season you are in. For more information about Lauren or One Prayer Away, visit https://laurenfortenberry.com/

There are books we should all have a copy of, to give to our beloved ones in need. Today's conversation is about such a book. It is a whimsical, poetic, God-centric little marvel of a book, so pretty and giftable. It will encourage your loved one who is going through a rough time. It can be for you, too, but I suspect it will find its way in your tool belt of go-to books to equip those around you who are finding themselves unable to put words to their struggles. Lauren Fortenberry has penned 90 short devotions that read like prayers. She puts words in the mouths of women who find it difficult to tell God how they feel, what they are going through, or who simply can't muster the strength to talk to God at all. One Prayer Away by Lauren Fortenberry is for every moment of the journey. Each day invites you to begin in the brokenness and finish with more faith. To speak to God about what keeps you up at night. MEET LAUREN FORTENBERRY https://laurenfortenberry.com/ Lauren Fortenberry is a writer, speaker, and influencer whose greatest passion is fearlessly and faithfully encouraging women through the love of Jesus Christ. She is a writing instructor at the University of Mississippi, and her writing has been featured by NBC's TODAY Show, Good Morning America, and a variety of other media outlets and blogs. She currently resides in Oxford, Mississippi, with her husband and two kids. A word from Lauren: "Welcome to my greatest passion: fearlessly and faithfully encouraging women through the love of Jesus Christ. I want to point every Sister's heart to God's promises and healing. I started blogging back in 2015 when I was a full-time college lecturer with two littles at home, and, truly, I had no idea where God would take my words (or my life). Now, over eight years later, my ministry encourages Sisters across the globe to live their best lives, and my first book, One Prayer Away, will be ours to share in April 2024. And I am reminded that God has this beautiful way of disrupting our plans to illuminate our greater purpose. My writing has been featured by NBC's TODAY Show, Good Morning America, Her View From Home, Love What Matters, and For Every Mom. Additionally, I have also published research on maternal and child health. When I'm not writing, I can most often be found playing with my kids, running, or serving in my local church in Mississippi. I haven't lived a perfect life, but God teaches me daily how to use the hardest of life for His glory. This hope is what I long to share with you. Across the digital miles, I invite you to join in this Sisterhood. God loves you. And I'm so glad you're here! To reach out with a speaking or interview inquiry, please contact me here.
