The Apostle James wrote: 'When all kinds of trials and tribulations crowd into your lives my brethren, do not resent them as intruders but welcome them as friends. Realise that they come to test your faith and produce in you the quality of endurance. But let the process go on until your endurance is fully developed and you will find you have become men of mature character, with the right sort of independence. ' James 1:2-4 It is often said by psychiatrists that 90% of people with emotional related psychiatric problems would be cured, if only they knew forgiveness. Forgiveness of course is a major part of Christianity, both in the way that God forgives us when we come to Him in penitence and repentance, but also in the way Christian disciples forgive others and themselves! Does that surprise you that people may need to forgive themselves? How does that work? The two major causes of emotional problems, involve forgiveness. Failure to receive forgiveness. Many people try to pay for their sin or to atone somehow for their sin or as AW Tozer out it: "The perpetual penance of regret." Some people even try to punish themselves for they're past sins. Failure to give forgiveness. There are always people who hurt us by what they say and do. If forgiveness is not offered, a root of bitterness resentment and anger may spring up in our lives. There are 'significant others' - parents who hurt us, siblings who fail us or tease us, and friends who betray who reject us. Now you may well be asking yourself, why does God allow these irritations and offences to take place? We need to understand that God's ultimate purpose for allowing irritations and offences to occur in our lives is to give us an opportunity to become more like Jesus Christ His Son (Romans 8;28:29). There are some irritations we can control and we are responsible to see us take sensible steps to do so. There is no point in complaining we are overweight if we are not prepared to diet. There are many sources of irritations and offences we can't control. People. Personality traits, inconsistencies, rejection etc. Environment. Inconveniences, natural elements, pressures. Ourselves. Frustrations with our deficiencies, limited abilities, failures, illnesses etc. God uses these circumstances, experiences and irritations to shape us and mould us like a gem cutter, cutting and polishing a stone to make it valuable. However, whether God requires 'sandpaper' or a 'sledgehammer' sometimes depends on our willingness to be involved in the process. God is concerned not just about what is happening to us, but also what we are learning and how we are responding in His workshop of life. How do we respond to irritations and offences? a. Wrong Responses (Human way) Defend yourself. Accuse somebody else and pass the blame. Hold anger in instead of dealing with the problem. b. Right Responses (God's way) Be honest with yourself - Am I in the wrong? Be willing to admit when you are wrong - Ask forgiveness. Be willing to forgive. Asking for forgiveness can be one of the hardest things we need to do. This is particularly so when we have been betrayed by a friend or someone who has been unfaithful. We need to stop and consider Christ and the enormity of His forgiveness. Failing to co-operate with God's purposes, has two frequent results Insensitivity: Ignore, shut off, withdraw and avoid. Oversensitivity: Resentment, bitterness, hatred, anger and revenge. Remember!! Forgiveness deals with our emotional response/s toward an offender. Pardon deals with the consequences of the offence; we may not be in a position to offer pardon. Forgiveness enables us to have the same openness toward the person after they offend us, as before. Lastly, when we forgive the offender, the hurt and the wound will start to diminish. This is helped when we realise Christ understands and can use these experiences for our eternal advantage. Why not share your answers with your spouse or a close friend, so you can pray over any issues together. Tests to see if there is someone I need to forgive Resentment test - Is there anyone you resent? Responsibility test - Do you find yourself thinking, "If only they (parents, friends, colleagues, God) had done this, things would have been different!" and therefore blaming others? Now, it's their inevitable reality. If Andrew Cuomo does somehow pull off a miraculous last-minute one-in-a-million win in New York, he will do so without any help from the establishment Democrats. But even a weak endorsement from Hakeem Jeffries for Zohran Mamdani is enough. They know their goose is cooked. Even if they're not happy about it, they have no choice but to go along with it.We wanted to smash the Patriarchy. They wanted to smash the oligarchy.I am old enough to remember how those of us in the I'm With Her army fought viciously with “Bernie bros” throughout the 2016 primary, calling them racists and misogynists, saying they were “useful idiots” for Trump. Now, meet Woke Socialism —the hybrid of AOC and Bernie, and their Green New Deal manifesto, merging the two ideologies into one complete organism. Zohran Mamdani is their love child, so perfect for today's Left that he almost seems like he was created in a lab.You see them everywhere, these socialist socialites. Somehow, it's become the ultimate pretty girl cred, like “Free Palestine” and “This baby is not yet human.” They like socialism for the same reason they like fat acceptance. As long as homely and otherwise rejected women are allowed in, that gives the pretty girls the freedom to display their beauty without being hated for it. Here are hot girls for Mamdani:We saw this on display at a recent Vogue Hollywood fashion show, populist enough for Gavin Newsom to attend. An array of all designated marginalized and their allies, the virtue signalers, all in one place. It was one big mix of the new Gilded Age and the high-society Woketopians in their finest. Here were two famous transgender models greeted with euphoric cheers.How to reflect social justice while luxuriating in extreme wealth? Just chant Tax the rich! Tax the rich! Tax the rich! That was all AOC needed to abandon her working-class cred to join the high-status Woketopians at the Met Gala.It's its own kind of evangelical grift. But it is the workaround necessary in the totalitarian America promised if the Democrats return to power. We've seen what it looks like. We already know. Obey the rules, or you're banished forever. AOC's gleaming face in that photo has been replaced by an angry one. Her speech at the Mamdani rally was very much an “us vs. them” anthem, and by them, she means you, the majority in America that voted for Trump. There is no escaping the fact that the party about to embrace socialism is the party of wealth and the ruling class. It's an inconvenient detail they all mostly gloss over. When the North decided slavery would not expand to the states, the South was willing to fight and die to hold onto what once was instead of evolving into what must now be. The Left is so desperate to hold onto their way of life, they are willing to fight to preserve crime in the cities, to open the border and allow all of the migrants to flow freely into America, and for Medicare for all and universal education to pay for them too.It was a fixed hierarchy in the American South, just as there is a fixed hierarchy among today's Left. Just as the South was a contradiction to America's foundational principles, that all men are created equal, so too are today's Democrats a contradiction to America's promise, that class no longer decides success, certainly not gender or skin color, but hard work, merit, and talent do. Obviously, that hasn't always been true for everyone. But it is the whole point of an America at all. Mamdani insists he wants all New Yorkers to live a dignified life. It sounds great, doesn't it? Once you start digging into exactly what he means by that, you realize he's not just talking about economics. He's also talking about thought and speech.Woke socialism is, for the Left, the best of all possible worlds. As long as the marginalized living in poverty are lifted up and elevated, the wealthy ruling class, the Socialist Socialites, can justify their absurdly comfortable lives in a country that has afforded them more wealth and privilege than most will see in their lifetimes. They're hoping that if they keep the government shut down, if they make Americans suffer, then we will have no choice but to abandon the American experiment and lean in to the same failed policies that have so many fleeing from all over the world just for the chance to live here and be free. As Orwell warned in Animal Farm, it is human nature that ultimately upends utopia. The Democrats are involved in their own cover-up. They're covering up for a Nazi. How could they! All they've done for ten years is scream about Nazis! Trump was Hitler, I was told and told and told and told, leading a Brown Shirt army, awakening the White Nationalists, and radicalizing them to rise up and kill Black and Brown people. I was told the Democrats were the side fighting Nazis! It's okay to punch one, and they're all Nazis! The Democrats told us! But there is a Nazi in their midst. A genuine bona fide Nazi by their own rules, a Nazi. We don't give Graham Platner the benefit of the doubt. That's not how this works. Le rôle du pape Pie XII durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale reste l'un des sujets les plus controversés de l'histoire contemporaine. Né Eugenio Pacelli, élu pape en 1939, il fut confronté dès le début de son pontificat à la montée des totalitarismes et, surtout, à l'extermination des Juifs d'Europe. Pourtant, beaucoup lui reprochent un « lourd silence » face à la Shoah.Dès les années 1930, Pacelli, alors nonce apostolique en Allemagne, avait négocié le concordat avec Hitler pour protéger les droits de l'Église catholique. Certains y voient un signe d'accommodement. Une fois pape, Pie XII exprima certes son hostilité envers les idéologies racistes et totalitaires, notamment dans son encyclique Summi Pontificatus en 1939, mais il ne cita jamais explicitement le nazisme ni le sort des Juifs.Pendant la guerre, les informations sur les massacres atteignent Rome : les déportations, les ghettos, les exécutions massives. En octobre 1943, quand les nazis arrêtent plus d'un millier de Juifs à Rome, sous les fenêtres du Vatican, Pie XII ne proteste pas publiquement. Il ordonne en revanche d'ouvrir des couvents et des institutions religieuses pour cacher des persécutés. Ces gestes humanitaires, bien réels, sauvèrent plusieurs milliers de vies. Mais la parole solennelle du pape, sa condamnation claire et publique du génocide, ne vinrent jamais.Pourquoi ce silence ? Les défenseurs de Pie XII avancent qu'il voulait rester « neutre » pour protéger les catholiques dans les pays occupés, éviter de provoquer des représailles encore plus terribles et préserver la diplomatie du Saint-Siège. Ils rappellent qu'une protestation trop directe, comme celle de l'évêque néerlandais face aux déportations, entraîna une répression accrue contre les Juifs baptisés. Le pape aurait donc choisi la prudence pour limiter les dégâts.Ses critiques, eux, estiment que cette prudence fut une faute morale. Dans un monde en feu, face à un génocide unique dans l'histoire, le silence du chef spirituel de millions de fidèles équivalait à une abdication. Son autorité morale aurait pu galvaniser la résistance des consciences. Au lieu de cela, l'absence de dénonciation claire fut perçue comme une forme d'indifférence, ou au minimum comme un calcul politique.Depuis l'ouverture progressive des archives du Vatican, les historiens continuent de débattre. Mais l'image d'un pape resté muet devant l'horreur reste gravée. « Le silence de Pie XII » est devenu un symbole : celui des dilemmes, des compromissions et des manques de courage qui entourèrent la plus grande tragédie du XXe siècle. Au Nord-Mali, l'accalmie sur le terrain militaire est trompeuse, affirment les rebelles touaregs du FLA, le Front de Libération de l'Azawad. « C'est le calme avant la tempête », précise le porte-parole du FLA, Mohamed Elmaouloud Ramadane. Depuis la sanglante bataille de Tine Zaouatène, il y a 14 mois, qui a coûté la vie à plus de 80 paramilitaires russes de Wagner, les rebelles du FLA et l'armée malienne affûtent leurs armes. Comment les rebelles se procurent-ils des drones ? Quels sont leurs vrais liens avec les jihadistes du JNIM ? De passage à Paris, le porte-parole du FLA répond aux questions de Christophe Boisbouvier. RFI: Mohamed Elmaouloud Ramadane, bonjour Mohamed Elmaouloud Ramadane, depuis plusieurs semaines, aucun combat n'est signalé dans la région de Kidal et de Tinzawaten, les fiefs du FLN au Nord du Mali. Est-ce qu'on peut parler d'une accalmie ? Mohamed Elmaouloud Ramadane : Non, moi je ne pense pas que c'est une accalmie. Je peux dire que c'est ce qu'on appelle le calme avant l'arrivée de la tempête. Donc les FLA (Forces de libération de l'Azawad) sont bien présentes sur le terrain, de leur côté, l'ennemi aussi, il est là-bas. Ils sont soit à Kidal ou bien à Tessalit. Ils sont dans les camps laissés par la Minusma ou bien la force Barkhane. Et surveillés en général par les drones. Ils n'arrivent pas à quitter en dehors de ces camps comme auparavant. Ils avaient l'habitude de quitter, d'aller un peu dans les hameaux, d'aller sur les puits, de massacrer et de piller les populations. Maintenant, ce n'est plus le cas. Donc par rapport aux opérations ou bien aux combats, c'est une question de temps. C'est le terrain qui commande. En juillet 2024, il y a eu cette bataille de Tinzawaten, tout près de la frontière algérienne, où vous vous êtes affrontés durement aux forces armées maliennes et aux paramilitaires russes de Wagner. Vous dites que vous avez gagné, mais est-ce que vous n'avez pas perdu aussi beaucoup de combattants ? Bon, on ne peut pas faire la guerre et faire des combats sans perdre des combattants. L'essentiel, c'est de gagner la bataille. Nous avons gagné parce que nous avons détruit toute cette unité de mercenaires russes de Wagner. Aucun combattant n'a pu s'échapper, aucune voiture n'a pu s'échapper. Donc c'était une lourde défaite pour ces mercenaires. D'ailleurs, je crois que c'est une première sur le continent africain. Donc c'est vrai, nous avons perdu des hommes. D'ailleurs, on a même fait un monument à Tinzawaten avec les noms de tous les martyrs. C'est une vingtaine de nos martyrs avec une quinzaine de blessés. Et du côté des Maliens et des paramilitaires russes, quel est le bilan des pertes ? Vous savez, nous avons recensé à peu près 85 à 87 cadavres des mercenaires de Wagner avec quelques militaires maliens. Mais la majorité, c'étaient les mercenaires de Wagner. Nous avons aussi des prisonniers russes et des FAMA prisonniers. Combien de prisonniers russes avez-vous aujourd'hui ? Deux. Deux prisonniers ? Deux prisonniers russes. Lors de cette bataille de Tinzawaten de l'année dernière, vos ennemis ont utilisé des drones, mais vous aussi vous avez utilisé des drones. Quels sont les pays amis qui vous ont livré ces engins ? Nous n'avons aucun pays ami qui nous a vraiment livré ou bien dont nous avons bénéficié de son aide matérielle. Les drones sont sur le marché noir. On peut les acheter. Donc, ce sont des choses qu'on achète et qu'on sophistique et qu'on modifie, une fois arrivées chez nous. Depuis plus d'un an, le torchon brûle entre Alger et Bamako. Est-ce que naturellement l'Algérie s'est rapprochée de vous et vous a peut-être aidé à vous livrer en matériel ? L'Algérie, sa position par rapport à la question de l'Azawad a toujours été claire et par rapport au Mali en général. Donc il n'y a aucun rapprochement entre nous et les autorités algériennes, que ce soit politique, que ce soit autre chose, aucun rapprochement. En tout cas, Bamako est persuadé que l'Algérie vous sert de base arrière. Vous savez, Bamako accuse tout le monde. Accuse la France, accuse l'Ukraine, accuse l'Algérie. Qui n'est pas accusé ? Accuse la Côte d'Ivoire, accuse le Sénégal, la Mauritanie. Personne n'échappe à son accusation. Donc, c'est la théorie du complot qui les a toujours prolongés dans cette crise, qu'ils sont en train de vivre. Au Nord Mali, Il n'y a pas que le FLA, il y a aussi les jihadistes du Jnim. Vous avez combattu ensemble l'an dernier à Tinzawaten contre les forces armées maliennes et Wagner. Est-ce à dire que vous êtes désormais des alliés sur le terrain militaire ? Le Jnim n'est pas que dans l'Azawad. Il est un peu partout dans le Mali et dans tous les pays du Sahel. Il occupe une grande partie du territoire du Mali. Aujourd'hui, il est autour de Bamako et de Kayes. Donc, c'est un acteur qui est sur le terrain que nous ne pouvons pas nier. Nous sommes, c'est vrai, sur le terrain où il y a la présence des hommes du Jnim sur le territoire aussi, mais il n'y a aucune coordination entre nous. Vous connaissez l'adage « Les ennemis de mes ennemis sont mes amis ». Du coup, puisque vous avez les mêmes ennemis, est-ce que vous n'êtes pas devenus amis ? Oui, « les ennemis de mes ennemis sont mes amis », c'est vrai. Donc, on peut avoir un ennemi commun que nous combattons tous. Mais nous n'avons pas les mêmes objectifs. Le Jnim est présent un peu partout. Il a des revendications différentes des nôtres. Nous, nous sommes limités sur le territoire de l'Azawad. Nous n'avons pas d'autres combats en dehors de cela, nos revendications sont politiques. C'est seulement pour la population de l'Azawad. On ne veut pas aller au-delà de ça. Est-ce qu'il n'y a pas au moins, entre vos deux mouvements, un pacte de non-agression ?   Exactement. Il y a un pacte de non-agression. Ça, je vous le confirme parce que, après les combats qui ont eu lieu sur la frontière avec la Mauritanie, entre les FLA et le Jnim en avril 2024, suite à cela, il y a eu des initiatives menées par des chefs des tribus, des communautés, parce que c'est leurs fils qui sont dans le Jnim et qui sont dans les FLA. Donc, pour éviter des confrontations, ils ont mis un mécanisme pour un accord de non-agression et pour éviter les accidents et les accrochages.
