Grace Free Lutheran Church Maple Grove, MN Message: Pastor Jim Rasmussen
In this powerful sermon, Pastor Chris Reiber takes us deep into the wilderness with Jesus as He faces temptation from the enemy. Drawing from Luke 4:1-13, we explore how Jesus responded to the devil’s attacks and how His victory offers a blueprint for us in our own spiritual battles. Pastor Reiber highlights three key truths: Our Foe is Very Real – The enemy is not a metaphor or distant threat; he's an active, powerful force seeking to destroy our faith. Our Foe Attacks the Same Way He Attacked Jesus – Temptation may look different, but the enemy's tactics are consistent: deception, distortion, and distraction. Our Foe is Destined to Lose – Despite his efforts, the enemy’s defeat is already secured in Christ, and we can stand firm in that truth. Join us as we unpack these lessons and discover how to face temptation with the same strength and wisdom that Jesus modeled. This episode will inspire and equip you to resist the devil’s schemes and walk in the victory Christ has already won. Tune in to "The Battle Begins" for a reminder that though the battle is real, the outcome is certain!

There are a lot of choices that we need to make in life. Some of those choices can help us grow and shape us positively. Others can pull us in different directions, leaving us struggling to figure out which choice is best. What do we do when we’re confronted with all of these choices? Do we rush ahead? Or do we pause and let God lead us toward the best way to act? Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit. It's also like a "muscle" that we need to exercise. Listen in to our teaching time from October 2024's Intergen worship.

Dr. Larry R. Hayward preaches at the 8:30 AM service on the First Sunday in Lent. The Scripture passage is Luke 4:1-13.
Are you aware of the various ways each day when you’re being tempted Temptation is subtle. Temptation is tricky. We are usually oblivious to the presence and power of the tempter in our lives. Jesus overcame the temptations of the Satan for us. As the author of Hebrews wrote, "Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted" (Hebrews 2:18).
We all know men and women who are well respected in their communities and have accomplished much. Some of them within the church world and some outside. But what happens when we hear of the failures they've had in their behavior or in their character? We are broken when we hear that they were living a double life, presenting themselves as respectable and accomplished when in reality they misused their influence and the trust placed in them. How did they get there? While most of them did not start that way, but along the way their hidden actions led them away. How do we avoid doing what they did and make the mistakes they made? Join us as we look at Jesus' final temptation.

We all enjoy some good shortcuts. Whether it's on the road, or at work, or at home, we enjoy the shortcuts that help us save time. However while shortcuts claim immediate gain in the short term, sometimes, these can be harmful and may create more work than we originally thought. In our lives as Christ followers, we are not immune from the effect of a bad shortcut. Join us as we consider how we can discern what's in front of us and how we may handle such a moment.
We jump back into the Book of Luke as we explore the Gospel and how it speaks into our culture and the challenges we face today. In this series we explore the temptations that Jesus faced. Scripture reminds us that as He faced them, He never gave in. How do you and I follow His example and stand in the face of temptations as well? Join us for our newest Sermon series.
