The Temptation Of Jesus Andrew Cox 26.1.2025 by Christian Family Church Colac
Having faced temptations around legitimate needs and taking the easy way Jesus is now tempted in the area of his strengths and giftings. In this message Douglas explores what this meant for Jesus and how we can be better equipped to resist temptation ourselves.

The devil's second temptation of Jesus was about who to worship. In this sermon Douglas explores how Satan uses modern day idols to temp us in a similar way and how we can overcome just as Jesus did.

Today, we look to the wilderness, where Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, faced temptation from the enemy himself. After 40 days of fasting, Satan targeted His hunger, His power, and His mission, yet each time, Jesus stood firm, responding not with self-reliance but with the power of God's Word. This passage reminds us that we too will face trials, but like Jesus, we can resist when we're prepared. Be filled with the Spirit, grounded in Scripture, and steadfast in faith, so that when life shakes you, godliness spills out.Remember, the enemy tempts most those who walk closest with God. But take heart! Where Israel faltered in the wilderness, Jesus stood victorious, offering us hope. Let us trust Him, the One who faced temptation and triumphed, so we might be restored to God's perfect design. Join me as we unpack this life-changing truth and learn to stand firm like our Savior.
This is the weekly message from Thrive Church Online with Pastor Adam.
In this series, we walk through Luke's account of the life of Jesus, which he wrote after thorough investigation and conversation with eyewitnesses. This message centers on the 40 days Jesus fasted before beginning His public ministry. We see the devil tempt Him, we watch... The post Luke Pt. 7 – The Temptation of Jesus appeared first on United Church.
The majority of our journey in 2025 will be oriented toward the presence and work of Jesus that we see in the Gospels. We begin this journey with the help of the church calendar, celebrating and reflecting on some key moments in Christ's story. This week, Mimi Dixon invited us to consider the temptation of Jesus. What were the temptations that he faced, how do we face those same temptations, and how can we turn our attention to find rest and freedom from the depth of God's love and goodness? Matthew 4:1-11
How do you face temptation and the devil? With the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. We go to work, every day, to learn the signs, so that when everything is swirling, we can still see what's going on. The commandments of God are not for the times that are easy, when we know what to do. His Word is precisely for the times when things are not clear.

Text UsThis week Dan & Josh are in a very pinnacle portion of the Bible, Luke chapter 4. The record from Luke's gospel of when Jesus was tempted by the devil. How close have we looked at this text of the Bible? What is it teaching here? Is this the only time Christ Jesus was tempted by Satan? These are a few of the questions we dive through in this episode, and more!
