On behalf of Charles George Missions, welcome to Season 14, “Spiritual Warfare.” This is episode 10 in our series, entitled “Spiritual Warfare Scriptures.” The resource for this series is the Word of God—the Bible—and the book “Spiritual Warfare Manual: ABC to PhD,” written by yours truly.Sit back, relax, and take a deep breath because today's spiritual warfare scripture is about rest. Matthew 11:28 says, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Rest is a spiritual warfare weapon because spiritual warfare is perpetual—never-ending. When you commit your life to Christ, it is a lifetime commitment. There is no discharge from the Lord's army, so you will need to learn to rest in the Lord. Also remember, there is a great reward in serving Him— ETERNAL LIFE, and other bonuses we do not even know about are the compensation we receive. 1 Cor. 2:9 tells us we haven't seen nor heard, nor has our heart known the things God has prepared for us who love him.And consider this. The military soldier takes something called R&R (Rest and Relaxation). The spiritual warfare soldier has to do the same. It may not be a trip to a tropical island, although that would be nice. You may take an afternoon off and do what you please. But take a break and lighten up. Rest is good for your heart and soul. Prov. 17:22 tells us, A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.You need to refresh yourself for the next battle.My R&R includes sitting in a comfortable chair, viewing and listening to nature from my window during prayer time. The moment I sit down, I exhale, and I know I am at peace with God.So, take time every day, even if it's only 15 minutes, and rest in the Lord.
