Welcome to season four! We open the episode with Alan and Walt recapping their holidays and activities since their hiatus. For a moment, the two go on a rabbit trail about snow and prior snowfalls in NW Georgia. This leads Alan to mention a documentary he stumbled across on YouTube about the making of the remastered Star Trek: The Original Series. For some reason, this triggers Walt to discuss their first air fryer. After nearly 30 minutes of nonsense. the hosts decide to weigh-in on their plans for season four. The Listeners Lounge will continue as a secondary cast along with a show about a Gene Wilder film. They do not discuss their selection, but they do drop a few hints. If you have missed Alan and Walt, even though they have been a break from this show, they have been very busy elsewhere. Alan and Walt opened the season four collaboration project for the Movies-by-Minutes group called, The Best Minutes Podcast. They are part of a group of 15 other shows all collaborating on the film, The Best Years of Our Lives. Alan and Walt can be heard discussing the first 10 minutes of the film. Walt and Alan were also asked to each read an individual piece of original fan-fiction for The Dirty Harry Minute podcast. Alan guest hosted five minutes of Office Space Minute and This Means Something Minute (a Close Encounters of the Third Kind podcast). He also guest hosted on three minutes of the upcoming Time Bandits Minute. Walt also did five minutes of guest hosting on This Means Something, American Graffiti Minute, The Room Minute and Seinfeld Minute. He also just recently did a live-cast with the Dirty Harry Minutes team. WATCHING During the break, Walt and Alan did watch some shows. Walt suggests Homefront, Hard Kill, Goodfellas, Nightstalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer and Llamageddon. Alan highly recommends The Queens Gambit, Souls, Coco and WandaVision. LISTENING Walt has been listening to the new Foo Fighters channel on SiriusXM. He also said he will be changing the, "Bring out your dead," segment to instead review a terrible movie of the week. He suggested he will put out a weekly poll in our Listeners Group so the audience can help select the film he reviews. Alan cannot get enough of the SiriusXM app channel, "Classic Rock Party." It's channel 715 on the app and has a great rotation of rock songs from the 60's through the 90's. He also started a new podcast with his wife called, "The Marriage Fit Podcast." It's a completely different kind of show and he hopes the audience will give it a try.
Today's episode features Eric Wojciechowski, a long-time probation officer by day and author by Night. He also is active in the area of UFOlogy. Before we bring on the guest, Alan and Walt recap their week since the last episode. Walt reminded us of having to question his dad over his apparent death. Then Walt recounts the tale of a large, naked whale seen at the gym. Alan talks about getting ready for a glamping trip on his Father's Day weekend. He was also part of a group planning a surprise party for a friend turning 50. The party was followed by going out on the lake the next day. Alan realizes the bulk of his naked body hasn't seen the sun in over a year! When Eric takes the stage, Alan recounts their lifelong friendship, starting with computer gaming, D&D and cable television. Eric then delves into his career move into the Department of Corrections for the city of Detroit. While working the day job, Eric took 15 years to complete his first novel, Three Condoms for Sarah. Also during that time, he found out he had developed stage 2 colon cancer, which had to be treated twice! The second round resulted from a spot on his liver that began to grow. After completing treatment, an idea of a second book formed and it eventually became the novel, Chasing Disclosure. He is set to release his third book, a collection of short stories, on September 11 called Chasing Magic. He will present that at the 3rd annual UFO Con in Detroit on that same weekend. The guys moved into their strange news segment with Eric joining in the running commentary. After, they began to wrap up with some movie and streaming recommendations. Finally, their podcast shout-outs included Seinfeld Minute, Monster, Making Sense with Sam Harris, Joe Rogan, Micah Hanks, Somewhere in the Skies, In Research Of, Monster Talk and 60 Minutes With - The Metallica Show.
We begin with a near Marge Simpson-like growl between Hedley and Lepetomane. After helping the governor sign the bill, Hedley needs to also help get the pen back in its holder. It seems the meeting is about to conclude when Miss Stein says she has an urgent telegram she received last Friday. It is from the citizens of Rock Ridge. When the governor hears the letter, he immediately jumps up and says they all need to protect their phony baloney jobs. Almost everyone gives the governor a harumph save for one lone staff member. The governor calls him out and Hedley demands he give the governor a harumph. As the minute comes to a close, Hedley is in the midst of saying that a suitable sheriff will be found. Our guest today is Dave Dalessandro. Dave is an Engineer from Mentor, Ohio. He is the editor and co-host of Seinfeld Minute with his girlfriend, LeeAnn. They are the proud parents to a baby boy, Cooper, born Christmas 2016. Thank you so much for tuning into today's episode. The episode continues with Governor Lepetomane decryring the paddle balls are defective. Hedley is using his perfectly but still agrees with the governor who makes him stop. Hedley then gets the governor to sign legislation to create a refuge for the criminially insane by creating a casino. Governor Lepetomane gives a short speech to the staff about the importance of the new legislation and they all cheer. The governor then congratulates Hedy but he corrects him saying his name is Hedley. The Governor quips, "What are you worried about? It's 1874, you can sue her!" Our guest today is Dave Dalessandro. So we thought we had just one uncomfortable moment in the movie, but it turns out we have another. The final moments mirror the scene between Elizabeth and the monster. This time, Dr. Frankenstein, still in a trance, makes his way into bed with Inga. Inga wonders if the doctor gave some of his wonderful brain to his creature, what did he get in return? The doctor smiles and as the camera pushes in, he rolls over onto Inga in an embrace. The camera cuts to the fireplace where we initially here what sounds like protestations. The filmmakers pull one last trick, getting us to believe the doctor has turned into the villain. However, after a moment, Inga begins to sing the same song lyric from Naughty Marietta and we realize just what it was the doctor has from his monster. As the penultimate episode comes to a close, we cut to Igor playing his silly rams horn on the edge of the castle wall. The music swells and we begin to pull away from the castle with the credits rolling. Our guest today, as we wrap up the live-action portion of the Wilder Ride, is Dave Dalessandro of Seinfeld Minute. We begin with Inga still singing from the bathroom and Freddy seeming to be falling into a stupor. We then shift to a brightly lit New York apartment. The monster is dressed in leopard print jammies and is in bed, reading the Wall Street Journal. From their bathroom, Elizabeth asks if he had a good evening and if he enjoyed meeting the parents. Then she asks if he saw the two hampers: one for shirt and the other for socks and poo-poo undies. When she exits the bathroom, she has the full-on beehive of the classic Bride of Frankenstein. She hisses like the classic, then struts toward him with her own jazz cymbal riff, kicking off her shoes. The monster can only shake his head and roll his eyes. We return to Transylvania with Freddy, now in his jammies, doing the zombie walk to his bed where Inga is now seated. Our returning guest today on the Wilder Ride is Dave Dalessandro of Seinfeld Minute. He was last with us, the monster was being taken into custody and Inga was helping to relieve the Doctor's stress by kissing his fingers.
