From the Ritz-Carlton in Dallas, George Wright III interviews Tucker Bern, who helps manage a complex family office spanning multiple industries and chose to focus on simplifying AI for real business use. Bern created Caddy, a locally installed “command center” built on Claude that uses a personalized intake to learn a user's needs and then supports tasks like email triage, calendar/meeting prep with web research, diligence, reporting, workflow automation, and even software building, with about 100 built-in skills including an “auditor” to review and dry-run code. He shares examples of replacing tedious job-review work and helping a non-coder build a lead-scraping app in 2.5 days, emphasizing output gains beyond 20% without aiming to cut staff. 00:00 Get 20 Percent More00:38 Show Intro And Guest01:56 Why Focus On AI04:02 Meet Caddy Platform05:10 Setup And Intake06:36 Real Workflow Wins07:15 Skills And Auditor08:20 Who Benefits Examples11:49 Productivity Not Layoffs13:49 Security And Ownership15:26 How To Use Daily17:48 Why You Must Adopt20:49 Vision And Passion22:15 Where To Learn MoreThanks for listening, and Please Share this Episode with someone. TopicsThe Nature of ProgressVisible vs. Invisible Progress: Amer's 1-minute personal best on a fitness test (15:30 → 14:30) provided tangible proof of progress despite feeling unprepared.Case Study: Rory McIlroy:11-Year Drought: An 11-year period without a major win was a time of invisible compounding, building mental resilience and a more complete game.Caddy's Reframe: After missing a putt to win the 2025 Masters, McIlroy's caddy reframed the situation from a loss (falling from 10th floor to 8th) to a massive gain (reaching a playoff from zero).Case Study: Scotty Scheffler:Risk Management: Scheffler's success comes from his ability to never hit two bad shots in a row, using precise risk calculation to minimize damage.Strategy vs. Results: His conservative style has yielded two Masters wins but may limit his pursuit of the career Grand Slam, highlighting the trade-off between consistency and high-risk, high-reward plays. The Crisis: A bond trading scandal threatened to bankrupt Salomon Brothers, where Warren Buffett had a significant investment. The Cover-up: CEO John Gutfreund, a man Buffett had praised for his integrity, initially hid the illegal trading activity from regulators.Motivation: Likely driven by self-preservation and a short-term focus on visible results, fearing the consequences of revealing the truth.Buffett's Intervention: Buffett stepped in as interim CEO, lending his credibility to negotiate with the U.S. government and save the firm.Outcome: This cemented Buffett's reputation as the "Oracle of Omaha" and demonstrated how character is revealed under extreme pressure.Problem: A pattern of delaying difficult but necessary actions (e.g., promotions, firings) due to a tendency to "keep the peace."Solution: A framework for interpreting emotions as data signals for action.Anger → A boundary has been violated.Disempowerment/Sadness → An expectation was not met.Anxiety → A lack of process to systematically assess a stressor.Catalyst: A coach ("village elder") provided the necessary tools and frameworks (e.g., RACI, performance management vs. coaching) to move beyond surface-level analysis.Research Finding: A 5:1 positive-to-negative interaction ratio is a key predictor of success in relationships.Application: John applies this principle to his team, aiming to increase praise to balance criticism.Amer's Friendship Example:Problem: A friend group's "degen maxing" activities were creating resentment and pulling Amer down.Action: Amer communicated his feelings directly, explaining that the dynamic was unsustainable.Outcome: The friends understood, and the separation served as a catalyst for their own positive changes. Amer has since re-engaged on his own terms. The Invitation: Amer received an invite to his 10-year high school reunion.Hesitations:Competitiveness: Fear of "dick-measuring contests" and hierarchical thinking.Awkwardness: Feeling stuck interacting with people's 17-year-old selves.Regression: Worry that the environment would trigger old high school insecurities.Potential Strategy (John's Idea): Treat the reunion as a "top of funnel" networking event to identify a few key people for more intentional follow-up.

Intuition? Luck? Coincidence? OR Holy Spirit... Chances are the Holy Spirit has given you gifts you have yet to acknowledge. When we go through life we face many different scenarios and when we are unsure how to respond, it is important that we take a moment to ask Holy Spirit for help. Just like it is a caddies job to know the golf course better than the golfer, it is our job to ask Holy Spirit (our metaphorical caddy) which "club" to hit. Which gift will Holy Spirit hand you? Are you ready to receive it?

Catholics have been thinking about vocations for a long time—and not only in terms of becoming a priest or member of a religious order. The Church teaches that every person is called by God to do something particular, to play some unique role in the ongoing creation and salvation of the world. But what happens when our working lives don't align with our true vocations? What should we do when we find ourselves stuck doing jobs we don't like? Fr. James Martin knows something about that, having spent his teenage summers and most of his twenties doing a variety of odd jobs. It's the subject of his new book, Work in Progress: Confessions of a Busboy, Dishwasher, Caddy, Usher, Factory Worker, Bank Teller, Corporate Tool, and Priest. On this episode, Fr. Martin joins associate editor Griffin Oleynick to speak about what that work has meant to him, and how he still draws from its lessons in humility and grace. Plus: Heidi Schlumpf reports on the latest developments in American Catholicism, including the Trump administration's conflict with the Vatican, the recent rise in Catholic conversions, and the fiftieth anniversary of the Women's Ordination Conference. For further reading: Ryan Burge on the “great sort” in American religion Heidi Schlumpf on the Women's Ordination Conference Massimo Faggioli on “cool” Catholicism and new baptisms
It's just Matt and Ashley riding shotgun together in this episode, catching everyone up on the last month of cruising, wrenching, and show‑hopping. They kick things off with their trip to the Lowrider Car Show in Tampa—checking out some wild hopping competitions, rolling into the after‑party, and soaking in rows of insanely detailed lowriders that looked like they rolled straight out of a candy‑paint daydream. From there, they shift gears into Custom Culture 26, where they got to drive some killer rides to and from the show, talk through some of the standout trophy winners, and celebrate a big milestone: the Caddy made its first public appearance… and wrapped the day with a surprise nobody saw coming.Matt and Ashley close things out by looking ahead—sharing the events they'll be hitting next and giving listeners a little insight into what the future holds for them.
Every friday we do a feedback pod, and from today we'll call them what they are - a Friday Feedback pod! Today we get off to an average start when Nick and Mark start giving each other feedback on their FootJoy shirts....perhaps they misunderstood the concept of a Friday Feedback podcast. But after we clear up that misunderstanding, onto the good stuff.Ando is from NSW Golf Club and has messaged us about our comments on how windy the course is, he has a story about a Victorian Golf Course which, at least on the day he was there, was so windy the siren sounded and they couldn't finish the round.Luke has a comment on 7 Mile Beach in Hobart.Willow has an observation about Seve Ballestero and his caddy, the legendary Billy Foster. Mark talks about his first ever full-time caddy, and Nick explains how Alana was his 'spotter' when he was looking to hire a caddy. Whilst on caddies - Christopher has a request for us to get Nick's long-time caddy Wilbur on the pod.Ian has some pretty strong opinions on handicapping. We find out if Nick and Mark agree. And then...okay this could go pear-shaped....Andrey wants to know that if Nick and Mark today, at their current age and form, played an LPGA Tour Pro would they win? The answer comes with some caveats, but it's a bit of a 'yes and no' answer - the boys explain their thinking and what they believe would happen.James has a great story about his wife Jo and her performance on a particular hole at Huntingdale a couple of weeks ago. David was attempting to join a club, however they have not allowed him to given he wants to bring his own golf scooter/buggy....and asks about that. And we finish with a ripping question from Craig for Nick about Rory McIlroy and The Masters.Have a great weekend, that's our Friday Feedback pod this week! We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:Hostplus, Talk Birdie To Me's official retirement partnerBMW, luxury and comfort for the 19th hole;Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best;Golf Clearance Outlet, they beat everyone's prices;Betr, the fastest and easiest betting app in Australia; And Southern Golf Club. Today, we're honored to share a conversation with Father James Martin, a Jesuit priest, a New York Times bestselling author, and the founder of Outreach, a ministry for LGBTQ Catholics. His new memoir is called Work in Progress: Confessions of a Busboy, Dishwasher, Caddy, Usher, Factory Worker, Bank Teller, Corporate Tool, and Priest. And yes, he held every one of those jobs before he found his calling. But beneath the laughs, this book is really about the slow, unglamorous, often uncomfortable work of transformation. In our conversation today, Father Jim talks about growing up desperate to be liked—and what it took to become someone willing to speak up and make waves when it matters. We talk about the difference between kindness and people-pleasing, about staying connected to religious institutions that can both nourish and wound us, and why he believes doubt is a natural part of a living, growing faith. In a moment when so many public voices feel reactive and divisive, Father Jim stands in conviction without losing compassion—offering a steady, grounded wisdom that feels deeply needed right now.Come to Raising Little Saints: A Faith Matters Family Night! What if you never needed to scale big - to sell big? Stuart Faught has done it 20 times. And he'll tell you - that's exactly the wrong way to think about it. Because what most SaaS founders don't realize… is that the real money isn't in building forever. It's in knowing exactly when to let go. Like the business he built, took to 100K ARR… and sold in 30 days flat. Or the deals where buyers showed up with zero-down offers and five-year payment plans… and got politely - but firmly - shown the door. Or the biggest mistake first-time SaaS buyers make - falling in love with the tech… when the only thing that actually grows the business is sales. In this episode, Jaryd Krause sits down with Stuart Faught - serial micro SaaS entrepreneur who has built and exited over 20 software businesses across verticals like dental, HVAC, med spas, and home care. All bootstrapped. All profitable. All sold. And this one gets real. Into why Stuart never scales past 100K ARR before selling - and why that's a feature, not a limitation. Into what he'd look for if he were buying a SaaS business tomorrow - and the red flags that would make him walk. Into why non-technical buyers are actually better positioned to grow software companies than most people think. But more importantly… Stuart breaks down the exact repeatable system behind 20 clean exits - what makes a deal close fast, what kills it dead, and why simplicity is the most powerful thing a seller can offer a buyer. No fluff. No theory. No "someday I'll do it big." Just 20 exits deep of hard proof - from someone who's figured out the game… and keeps winning it.

Today's guest is no stranger to the AMDG podcast. Fr. James Martin is a Jesuit priest and editor-at-large at America Media. His newest book, “Work in Progress: Confessions of a Busboy, Dishwasher, Caddy, Usher, Factory Worker, Bank Teller, Corporate Tool and Priest” is now available. In it, Fr. Martin details his own experience of summer jobs — how they shaped him, what they taught him, who crossed his path as a result of them and how he found God dwelling within them. It's a memoir that is both funny and poignant, and it's a wonderful invitation for each of us to reflect more deeply upon our own lives. You can get Fr. Martin's new book wherever books are sold, and you can read an excerpt over at America Magazine: https://www.americamagazine.org/faith/2026/01/15/james-martin-lessons-from-mowing-lawns-riding-bikes-and-a-fateful-walk-to-school/ https://www.harpercollins.com/pages/jamesmartin
