[School of Everything Else] For a long while we hoped this would be a project from the makers of WandaVision that would see hidden villain Agatha Harkness trying to make amends for her machinations during the Westview incident. By the end of the second episode she's unrepentant and off on a whole new adventure, romping down The Witches' Road with an uneasy new coven in tow. Like many of you, we drifted away and planned to come back once it was finished, but it wasn't until almost a year after that, when we finally sat down and saw the whole thing... and it's one of our unexpected favourite Marvels. Never would have guessed they would nail this one. That was quite a magic trick. Next Week: Quantumania & Brave New World

[School of Movies 2025] Here is a film we were very excitedly waiting for. We had already been waiting an age for the first Captain Marvel movie in 2019, a project that would have been put into effect had Ike Perlmutter not maintained for years that female-led superhero films wouldn't make money. The thing swept in just over a billion dollars and made a lot of boys on YouTube very cross. Four years and a pandemic later, two Disney Plus monoseries emerged over that time, the celebrated WandaVision, which featured the returning little girl Monica Rambeaux, now an adult and working for Nick Fury, and then there was the underseen Ms. Marvel, featuring the equally long-awaited first appearance of the endlessly charming Kamala Khan. Electing to bring together these three ladies in a spacefaring adventure was neat, however, as you'll hear from our extensive talk on the structure and narrative, nobody was well-served by the direction this took, least of all the excellent director of Candymen (2021), Nia DaCosta. Plus, I've forgotten the name of the villain! Next Week: Agatha All Along

Editors - Nona Khodai ACE and Tim Roche The Fantastic Four: First Steps sees editors Nona Khodai and Tim Roche reunite for the 37th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the second reboot of the Fantastic Four film series. The film also marks the first time the two have worked together since Marvel's live action series debut, WandaVision. Although each had worked with him separately before, WandaVision was the first time both Nona and Tim worked with director Matt Shakman on a Marvel project. The Fantastic Four: First Steps takes place in 1964, as the world celebrates the fourth anniversary of astronauts Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm becoming the superhero team known as the Fantastic Four (Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and the Thing). But the celebration doesn't last for long as the four face their most daunting challenge yet as they defend Earth from Galactus and Silver Surfer. NONA KHODAI ACE A Southern California native and graduate of USC's Cinematic Arts school, Nona started her career as an assistant on such films as the Bad Robot production, Super 8. Her first foray as an editor on a "superhero" project came courtesy of showrunner Eric Kripke who brought her aboard the The Boys, where she would work with director Matt Shakman for the first time. Nona was twice nominted for an Emmy award for her work on Marvel's WandaVision, and nominated for another Emmy for Marvel's Ms. Marvel. TIM ROCHE Known for his work on comedy series like Silicon Valley and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, as well as for his contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including WandaVision, Thor: Love and Thunder and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Tim has received five Emmy nominations for his work, including one this year for Welcom To Wrexham, a show that has already brought him an ACE Eddie Award. Rai from the Gentleman's Guide to Midnite Cinema to discuss yet another SUPERHERO film: the eagerly awaited The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The MCU is still floundering of late, far from its billion dollar a movie hey day. The ingredients are all there: Visionary director (Matt Shakman who created WandaVision), incredible cast (Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Barach, and Joseph Quinn), a retro-futuristic look, key Marvel characters (Galactus, Silver Surfer, Mole Man). Will this restore the MCU to greatness and finally herald a true vision of Marvel's first family or is it more Kevin Feige-trickery and just a placeholder for the next (Doomsday) movie? JAMES WAN BRINGS ATLANTIS TO LIFE!! Aquaman Full Reaction Watch Along: / thereelrejects Visit https://huel.com/rejects to get 15% off your order Andrew Gordon & Tara Erickson dive deep into the underwater action of the 2018 DC Extended Universe blockbuster Aquaman in this epic Reaction & Review! Directed by James Wan (The Conjuring, Furious 7), the film stars Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, See) as Arthur Curry, the half-human, half-Atlantean heir to the throne of Atlantis. As Arthur wrestles with his destiny and dual identity, he must confront his power-hungry half-brother Orm, played by Patrick Wilson (Watchmen, Insidious), who seeks to unite the underwater kingdoms to wage war on the surface world. With the help of the fierce warrior princess Mera (Amber Heard, Zombieland, The Rum Diary) and royal advisor Vulko (Willem Dafoe, Spider-Man, The Lighthouse), Arthur embarks on a globe-trotting quest to retrieve the legendary Trident of Atlan and claim his rightful place as king. Along the way, he faces off against Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Watchmen, Candyman), a vengeful mercenary with cutting-edge Atlantean tech. The film also features Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge!, Big Little Lies) as Arthur's mother Queen Atlanna, Dolph Lundgren (Rocky IV, The Expendables) as King Nereus, Temuera Morrison (The Mandalorian, Once Were Warriors) as Arthur's father Tom Curry, Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat, WandaVision) as Dr. Stephen Shin, Ludi Lin (Power Rangers, Marco Polo) as Captain Murk, and the voice of Dame Julie Andrews (The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins) as the monstrous sea guardian Karathen. Packed with stunning visuals, underwater battles, the epic Ring of Fire duel, and the climactic final war between kingdoms, Aquaman became a billion-dollar success and one of the DCEU's most visually ambitious entries. Join TSL Workshops: https://tslworkshops.circle.so When you're pitching — whether it's on studio IP or your own original idea — what sets you apart is your take. But what does that actually mean? This week, Jac Schaeffer (WandaVision, Agatha All Along) breaks it down. For Jac, a great take starts with the emotional core — “what is the deep down” that connects you to the material. From there, it's about delivering a pitch only you could give: not necessarily linear or formulaic, but full of energy, essence, and personal vision. We talk about how far is too far from the IP, how to navigate studio mandates, and how to protect your voice in rooms full of competing takes.
Marvel fans, get ready! On this episode of The Kristian Harloff Show, Kristian is joined by co-hosts Coy Jandreau and Winston Marshal to break down the MASSIVE news: Marvel Studios has officially delayed AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY and AVENGERS: SECRET WARS release dates! The end of the Multiverse Saga is now coming later than expected, and we're diving deep into what this means for the entire MCU. Disney and Marvel Studios have announced that Avengers: Doomsday has been moved from May 1, 2026, to December 18, 2026. And Avengers: Secret Wars, meanwhile, will now open on December 17, 2027, after it was originally scheduled for May 7, 2027. While there's disappointment, were there telltale signs that Avengers: Doomsday might be delayed? We discuss why this feels like the right move, potentially giving both movies more time to shoot, increasing the odds of more actors being able to appear (like Tom Holland's Spider-Man!), and vastly extending that all-important post-production time. We also touch on the removal of an "Untitled Marvel Movie" from February 13, 2026, and other MCU title date changes. But the burning question is: What happens to SPIDER-MAN 4 now?! With "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" no longer opening between Doomsday and Secret Wars, we explore what this means for Spidey's next adventure and if it's more likely to be a street-level story. Could this be the perfect opportunity for the web-slinger? We're also tackling a huge RUMOR: The Russo Brothers are casting the MCU's new GHOST RIDER for AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY! Jeff Sneider confirmed that Marvel Studios and the Russos are in the process of casting the Spirit of Vengeance. Could we see Ghost Rider join the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four on screen against Doctor Doom? We'll discuss Ryan Gosling's previous comments about the role! Plus, we've got updates on the upcoming Disney+ series, VISION QUEST! Showrunner Terry Matalas confirms the show's place in the MCU timeline, revealing it directly follows White Vision's journey after WandaVision. We'll also break down the full list of confirmed writers for this highly anticipated series. OUR SPONSORS: TURTLE BEACH: Head to TurtleBeach.com and use code KRISTIAN for 10% off your entire order.
