The average of all exit polls, or the Poll-of-Polls, has predicted that Uttar Pradesh may end up sending 49 BJP MPs to Parliament. The SP-BSP alliance, that looked like a daunting force on paper, may do far less damage than expected. But here’s what many of us may not have taken into account: the pulse of the people on ground. Deadline-driven journalists who have little time to spare, may have missed out on this crucial aspect. * Congress leader Tom Vadakkan joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on 14 March, in the presence of Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. Vadakkan was always believed to be a close aide of Sonia Gandhi. In fact, Vadakkan was once the national spokesperson of Congress and even a former secretary of the AICC. * In Uttar Pradesh, SP-BSP will have joint election rallies during the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, said former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav * Next, the NCP announced a list of their candidates for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. The list includes Supriya Sule from Baramati, Sanjay Dina Patil from Mumbai North East, Anand Paranjpe from Thane, Sunil Tatkare from Raigad and Mohammad Faisal from Lakshadweep. * After Tom Vadakkan's choice to switch from Congress to the BJP, it's the TMC's turn to shake things up a little. Trinamool Congress MLA Arjun Singh also joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. * In an interesting twist, Election Commission officials demonstrated how to use Electronic Voting Machines & VVPATs, at a mass marriage function in Hatti village in Karnataka's Koppal district. Fun fact? This was done based on a request from the couples and involved the guests at the wedding also participating in the campaign. * Rahul Gandhi in Thrissur: In 2019, when we come to power, we've decided to take a big decision of Minimum Guarantee Income. With Guaranteed Minimum Income, anybody who earns less than minimum income line will be given money by the Government of India to bring them up to the minimum income line.

"January 12 2019, marked a significant day for Uttar Pradesh's political discourse. The day when history repeated itself. For the political observers, it was a deja vu moment. The arch rivals Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samajwadi Party officially announced their alliance for the 2019 Lok Sabha election. This was a stark reminder of that moment when almost 2 decades ago the first generation leaders of the parties Mulayam Singh Yadav and Kanshi Ram came together to fight the assembly elections. However, the SP-BSP Alliance kept Congress out. The same Mayawati whose closeness to Sonia Gandhi made headlines is now sounding poll bugle against the Congress. Both Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati and the SP-BSP are considered a major part of the larger opposition alliance. So why the SP-BSP alliance turned down Congress' friendship offer? In this show, we will decide what is the real reason behind SP-BSP Alliance snubbing the Congress and going ahead with the "regional only" alliance.

"Days after pulling out from the NDA government led by Bharatiya Janata Party, Telugu Desam party has finally decided to quit the NDA coalition as well. TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had decided to break away from the government after the Centre’s alleged ignorance towards the Special Status demand by the Andhra Pradesh. The TDP MPs were upset with the Centre and PM Modi for quite few years. However, after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley cleared last week that no special status will be granted to Andhra Pradesh, the TDP called for a party meeting and announced its decision. The new blow comes to BJP in the wake of already one ally-Shivsena abandoning the NDA coalition for 2019 Lok Sabha Election. On the backdrop of humiliating defeat of BJP at the hands of SP-BSP alliance and RJD in UP Bypolls and Bihar Bypolls, this development has deliver another setback for the party. TDP today called a meeting of its politburo where it was also decided that the party will back YSR Congress’ decision to move No-Confidence motion against the Modi government. The YSR Congress MP YV Subba Reddy had notified the Lok Sabha Secretary-General on Thursday to move the no-confidence motion in the Council of Ministers. He had also requested that it should be included in the list of business on Friday. While Chandrababu Naidu did not miss the chance to criticize the YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy he reiterated that for the people of Andhra Pradesh he will support the no-confidence motion put forth by the party.
