The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Jennifer Sdunzik PhD live from Germany. Gus has been studying the recent shooting of Maria Florinda Ríos Pérez de Velásquez, a non-white housekeeper who went to the wrong address. A 62-year-old White Man shot her to death through a closed door because he was “afraid.” Gus T. remembered the work of Racist Suspect James Loewen and correctly identified Whitestown as a Racially Restricted Region - an area where black people are forbidden. He then located Sdunkik's 2019 dissertation Mapping Whiteness: Uncovering the Legacy of All-White Towns in Indiana. The comprehensive work examines the so-called Hoosier's state's long history of deliberately prohibiting residence to black people and/or violently ejecting entire populations of black people at the slightest provocation. Gus is fascinated to know why Sdunzik left Germany to study White Culture in Indiana and how many Racist Jokes she heard from Whites in Indiana. #RevJimJones INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE 564943#

Brandon Thurber, chief market strategist at Regions Asset Management, says climbing the proverbial wall of worry has "supercharged the market," making it hard "to find reasons to be anything less than positive and constructive for 2026." While he worries that the message could be that "The only thing you have to fear is fear itself" — and he describes in The Big Interview the real fears that he feels could blossom into problems — he doesn't expect conditions to change much from 2025, and is mostly encouraged about domestic and international markets. Ken Berman, strategist at Gorilla Trades, says that he'd be foolish to say that now is a great time to buy after three strong years, but he believes the path of least resistance for the market is to go higher, and that's what he thinks will carry the current rally well into the new year. Like Thurber, Berman says he wouldn't want to get in the way of the market right now, and makes it clear that while there are reasons to be nervous he "wouldn't want to be short here." John Cole Scott, president of CEF Advisors, looks at tax-loss selling season and whether it has started yet, noting that a few asset classes have largely been able to avoid situations where there will be widespread harvesting this year, while others — most notably business-development companies — may be poised for a lot of tax-driven reshuffling before year's end. Scott also answers some questions on the value of tax-loss harvesting if it means selling a fund you like, and how he recognizes yield traps and spots big discounts that are poor buying opportunities.

Building a Brand in Healthcare's Most Competitive AI Market

Brand has become the B-word in our industry. It's almost viewed as a dirty word in certain C-Suites and marketing leaders bring it up at their peril. But let's face it, without a strong brand, your sales are going nowhere. And this is especially the case in healthcare technology, where buyers have favorites and start a 13+ month buyer journey with a shortlist in mind.In this episode, I sit down again with my friend and healthtech marketing leader, Lea Chatham, to unpack what it takes to create and build a strong brand. We discuss what it really takes to build a brand in the white-hot ambient AI/clinical scribe space. We start with the reality that large buying groups are overwhelmed with noise, and increasingly turn to a few trusted sources to quietly shortlist the top two or three vendors before they ever talk to sales. If you're not consistently showing up with credibility in those channels, you may never even make the long list, let alone the shortlist. Lea and I then dive into the specific brand challenges she's taken on at Heidi Health. Heidi began as a bottom-up, product-led, physician-led company with a very “sign up free and try it” feel. Lea walks through how they've repositioned Heidi to a broader “AI care partner” that can sit beside any clinician across organizations of all sizes, while still staying obsessed with physician experience and adoption. We also explore the broader competitive landscape in ambient AI. Lea describes two main camps: solutions tightly embedded in the EHR, and “untethered” scribes where integration is the last step rather than the first. From there we zoom out into brand strategy and execution. We talk about the constant push to create “branded demand,” where every brand investment also drives pipeline, and every demand gen motion reinforces the brand. Lea explains that you can't build a serious brand in this market purely organically. You have to spend selectively, like picking a few big bets (like going big with CHIME, co-authoring an award submission with marquee enterprise customers, or key analyst relationships) that can create outsized visibility and credibility quickly while your broader organic engine spins up. Key Topics Covered:"(00:00)" Setting the Stage: Ambient AI “Land Grab” & Buying Groups"(03:10)" Heidi as the “New Kid” & the Enterprise Brand Barrier"(06:20)" Measuring Brand Without a Six-Figure Budget"(10:20)" Mapping the Ambient AI Landscape & Heidi's Positioning"(16:20)" Global Brand, Local Markets: From Scribe to “AI Care Partner”"(19:30)" Tailoring Messaging for Personas, ICPs & Regions"(25:10)" Brand Consistency, Naming, and Product Architecture"(30:10)" Building the Heidi Brand in the US: Tactics & “Branded Demand”"(35:40)" Adapting SEO for the AI & Prompt Era"(38:00)" Final Advice: Strategic Spend & Big Bets (CHIME Case Study)If you are interested in discussing this or any other topic, let's have a chat.  Reach out to me directly to schedule a no-obligation discussion. In this episode of the Mississippi Outdoors Podcast, host Matt Wyatt sits down with Rick Hamrick, the Small Game Coordinator for MDWFP, to talk about the story of quail in Mississippi — where they were, where they are now, and what it takes to bring them back.Rick explains how land use changes over the last 100+ years reshaped the entire landscape for quail. From the days of mule farming and small patchwork fields to modern mechanized agriculture and dense pine stands, Mississippi's habitat has shifted — taking quail numbers with it. He also breaks down predator dynamics, the role of prescribed fire, why some regions still hold birds, and how landowners can create small pockets of habitat that truly matter. The conversation covers:• Mississippi's quail boom of the early 1900s• How habitat changes led to long-term decline• Why quail thrive after disturbances like fire, floods, and clearcuts• Regions of Mississippi where quail still exist today• Public lands with quail opportunities• The role of predators• What landowners can realistically do — from prescribed burning to habitat restoration• The acreage needed for hearing vs hunting vs sustaining a coveyIt's a clear, science-driven explanation of quail decline that every Mississippi landowner, hunter, or conservationist should hear.Mississippi Outdoors is produced by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. http://www.sherylkline.com/blogIn the latest Fearless Female Leadership interview, I had the honor of speaking with Melanie Moore, the Inclusion and Engagement Leader at Honeywell, about “Building Inclusive Cultures That Drive Global Impact.”Melanie's journey into leadership wasn't planned... it was discovered. A marketing major by degree, she was “accidentally” placed into a human resources internship, and that unexpected detour sparked a 30-year passion for people. From recruiting talent to fostering belonging across continents, Melanie has built her career on one guiding principle: say yes, try new things, and see where they lead. Now leading Honeywell's global Inclusion and Engagement efforts, Melanie has been traveling the world (from the U.S. to India, China, and Europe) hosting regional inclusion summits designed to meet people where they are. Rather than a “one-size-fits-all” approach, each summit was uniquely tailored to the challenges and cultures of its region. The response? Overwhelming gratitude and renewed engagement.Melanie believes that inclusion is not a “soft skill.” It's a business imperative tied directly to innovation, productivity, and ROI. True inclusion extends beyond race and gender; it touches well-being, psychological safety, and human connection. When people feel seen, valued, and safe, they perform better, and organizations thrive. Her advice for leaders and employees alike is simple but profound: start small, stay curious, get involved, and build bridges across differences. Whether joining employee networks, learning from others, or meeting one new person each week, inclusion begins with action.Thank you Melanie for a summary of your whirlwind global inclusion tour that impacted so many at Honeywell!

Host Todd Ritter flies solo in this special episode, taking listeners on a journey through the latest bourbon news and a deep dive into whiskey history. With Jim out of town, Todd kicks off the first half by tackling a massive slate of industry updates before sampling a unique experimental whiskey. He covers the Lost Lantern "Scotch Lover's" Fall 2025 collection, the nationwide expansion of Wyoming Whiskey's "Buffalo Bill Cody," Jim Beam's new Harden's Creek trio (Mushroom, Beaver, and Owl), and Jack Daniel's Distillery Series #15, a "Sweet Mash" Tennessee Whiskey. Todd also details new releases from Chicken Cock and Town Branch, Buffalo Trace's 9 millionth barrel milestone, and the bombshell news that Kirin is exploring the sale of the Four Roses distillery. The segment features a deep dive into the 2025 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC), highlighting the new 15-year-old Colonel E.H. Taylor Bottled in Bond and a formidable 142.8-proof George T. Stagg. The first tasting of the day is the Remus Master Distiller Experimental Series Number One from MGP. This 9-year-old, 107-proof bourbon was aged in lightly charred and heavily toasted Seguin Moreau barrels made from staves seasoned outdoors for 24 months. Todd finds a big vanilla nose with a "wine funkiness," fig, and dark baking spices. The palate proves "soft and velvety" with notes of toasted marshmallow, chocolate, a hint of red wine, and a sweet, spicy finish of candied pecan and allspice. For the second half, Todd unearths a true gem for history nerds: a complete reading of a 1909 essay by none other than Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr., titled "The Rule of the Regions." Discovered in the University of Kentucky archives, the essay provides a fascinating look into the mind of the bourbon pioneer. Taylor boldly declares Kentucky bourbon superior to Scotch and Irish whiskeys, attributing this to the "Rule of the Regions"—specifically, the paramount importance of Kentucky's unique limestone water. He discusses the industry's massive (for 1909) $180 million value, the evolution from primitive wooden stills to scientific copper distillation, and the superiority of Kentucky's dry, ascending-proof aging methods. Most notably, he champions the Bottled-in-Bond Act as the ultimate guarantee of quality and authenticity, a protection he notes that Scotland and Ireland unfortunately lack. To accompany this historic reading, Todd tastes the Oaklore Story Series Number 2, an Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish 4 Grain Bourbon. Hailing from Matthews, North Carolina, this 95-proof blend of 5-to-6-year-old bourbons (70% corn, 10% rye, 10% wheat, 10% malted barley) is finished for 12-18 months in sherry casks. The whiskey shows a ruby tinge and offers a nose of raisin, wine, caramel, and vanilla. The soft palate features notes of black cherry, cocoa, sherry-driven nuttiness, and sweet dark fruits. Be sure to check out our private Facebook group, "The Bourbon Roadies" for a great group of bourbon loving people. You will be welcomed with open arms!

What did it take to end the War for Independence? When we think of the American Revolution's final chapter, we think of the Siege of Yorktown. Between September 28 and October 19, 1781, British forces endured a siege by the Franco-American forces that ultimately led to a triumphant Franco-American victory, British recognition of American independence, and the birth of a new nation. But the real story of the Yorktown victory is far more layered. It involved international alliances, enslaved people seeking freedom, and years of hardship. Today, we're revisiting the events of October 1781 as we revisit Episode 333.
