Host Todd Ritter flies solo in this special episode, taking listeners on a journey through the latest bourbon news and a deep dive into whiskey history. With Jim out of town, Todd kicks off the first half by tackling a massive slate of industry updates before sampling a unique experimental whiskey. He covers the Lost Lantern "Scotch Lover's" Fall 2025 collection, the nationwide expansion of Wyoming Whiskey's "Buffalo Bill Cody," Jim Beam's new Harden's Creek trio (Mushroom, Beaver, and Owl), and Jack Daniel's Distillery Series #15, a "Sweet Mash" Tennessee Whiskey. Todd also details new releases from Chicken Cock and Town Branch, Buffalo Trace's 9 millionth barrel milestone, and the bombshell news that Kirin is exploring the sale of the Four Roses distillery. The segment features a deep dive into the 2025 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC), highlighting the new 15-year-old Colonel E.H. Taylor Bottled in Bond and a formidable 142.8-proof George T. Stagg. The first tasting of the day is the Remus Master Distiller Experimental Series Number One from MGP. This 9-year-old, 107-proof bourbon was aged in lightly charred and heavily toasted Seguin Moreau barrels made from staves seasoned outdoors for 24 months. Todd finds a big vanilla nose with a "wine funkiness," fig, and dark baking spices. The palate proves "soft and velvety" with notes of toasted marshmallow, chocolate, a hint of red wine, and a sweet, spicy finish of candied pecan and allspice. For the second half, Todd unearths a true gem for history nerds: a complete reading of a 1909 essay by none other than Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr., titled "The Rule of the Regions." Discovered in the University of Kentucky archives, the essay provides a fascinating look into the mind of the bourbon pioneer. Taylor boldly declares Kentucky bourbon superior to Scotch and Irish whiskeys, attributing this to the "Rule of the Regions"—specifically, the paramount importance of Kentucky's unique limestone water. He discusses the industry's massive (for 1909) $180 million value, the evolution from primitive wooden stills to scientific copper distillation, and the superiority of Kentucky's dry, ascending-proof aging methods. Most notably, he champions the Bottled-in-Bond Act as the ultimate guarantee of quality and authenticity, a protection he notes that Scotland and Ireland unfortunately lack. To accompany this historic reading, Todd tastes the Oaklore Story Series Number 2, an Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish 4 Grain Bourbon. Hailing from Matthews, North Carolina, this 95-proof blend of 5-to-6-year-old bourbons (70% corn, 10% rye, 10% wheat, 10% malted barley) is finished for 12-18 months in sherry casks. The whiskey shows a ruby tinge and offers a nose of raisin, wine, caramel, and vanilla. The soft palate features notes of black cherry, cocoa, sherry-driven nuttiness, and sweet dark fruits. Be sure to check out our private Facebook group, "The Bourbon Roadies" for a great group of bourbon loving people. You will be welcomed with open arms!

What did it take to end the War for Independence? When we think of the American Revolution's final chapter, we think of the Siege of Yorktown. Between September 28 and October 19, 1781, British forces endured a siege by the Franco-American forces that ultimately led to a triumphant Franco-American victory, British recognition of American independence, and the birth of a new nation. But the real story of the Yorktown victory is far more layered. It involved international alliances, enslaved people seeking freedom, and years of hardship. Today, we're revisiting the events of October 1781 as we revisit Episode 333. In this episode, we join three historians–Marcus Nevius, Ed Ayers, and Gretchen Johnson– who help us uncover: How American, French, and British forces converged at Yorktown The vital role of the French army and navy in securing victory And what this final battle looked like on the ground for soldiers, civilians, and Black Virginians alike Show Notes: https://www.benfranklinsworld.com/333 EPISODE OUTLINE 00:00:00 Introduction 00:03:59 Siege of Yorktown 00:05:13 The British Military Approach 00:08:50 The Importance of Virginia's Regions 00:18:57 The Impact of War on Yorktown 00:28:03 Dunmore's Proclamation and the British Strategy 00:33:44 The British Invasion of Virginia 00:48:00 Aftermath and Legacy 00:55:49 Conclusion RECOMMENDED NEXT EPISODES

They add a beloved city to their list and share favorite countryside regions Favorite Cities: Adding Venezia Beyond the Crowds: Kimberly and Tommaso admit Venice can be crowded. They share how to see it in a less crowded way, even during high season. Knowing where to stay and when to visit certain spots helps. A Unique City: Venice is unlike any other city. It feels enchanting, otherworldly. Walking narrow alleyways (calli) transports visitors back centuries. Engineering Marvel: The city's ingenious foundation system uses wooden pilings. These pilings are now as hard as concrete because they were oxygen-deprived for centuries. Historical Achievements: Tommaso shares Venice's contributions to Western civilization. Early system of checks and balances in government (675 A.D.). The Arsenal shipyard, the world's largest industrial complex before the Industrial Revolution (1104 AD). First street lighting ordinance (1128 AD). First state-guaranteed national bank (1157 AD). Invention of the elevator (1160 AD) for the Piazza San Marco bell tower. First government bonds (1171 AD) from forced citizen loans. The bill of exchange for international trade (around 1200 AD). Infused soap, inventing perfume and deodorant (1200s). First brick hearth with a chimney and flue (1227 AD). First child labor laws (1284 AD) for Murano glass production. Returning to Venice: Tommaso is a serious fan, therefore he plans on many returns. Favorite Countryside Regions The Dolomites: Kimberly's History: She has a long history of hiking trails and staying in refugios. She recalls picnics with friends in alpine meadows. Skiing was a frequent activity. Tommaso's First Visit: His first visit was last December. He notes the unique, jagged peaks compared to US mountains. Cuisine and Air: The Dolomites offer high-end, creative cuisine and excellent wines. The fresh mountain air is invigorating. Toscana: Val d'Orcia: Picture-Perfect Landscape: This area in southeast Tuscany is idyllic. It resembles a painting or a movie set. It defines what many imagine when they hear “Tuscany.” UNESCO Status: Recognized in 2004, Val d'Orcia is a cultural landscape shaped by humans in harmony with nature. This status ensures its visual preservation. No modern buildings or businesses will alter its appearance. Medieval Villages: The area has authentic villages like Montepulciano, Pienza, and Montalcino. Locals live in these villages so it's not just a tourist destination. Winding Roads: Narrow, two-lane roads without shoulders connect the villages. This maintains the beauty. Lack of streetlights at night makes driving challenging for non-locals. Wine and Food: Home to famous wines like Brunello and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The cuisine features cured meats, ragu sauces, and pici pasta. Puglia: Distinct Landscape: Puglia stands out geographically. It resembles Greece, Turkey, or even the central Australian desert with its burnt orange soil. Architecture: The stark white Trulli buildings and Masserias contrast with the colorful soil. This creates a unique landscape. Kimberly's Favorite Cuisine: Puglia's cuisine is Kimberly's favorite in Italy. They use many vegetables in dishes. These vegetables grow in the region's rich soil. Wines and Bread: The region produces diverse, full-bodied wines such as Primitivo and Negroamaro. Tommaso notes that their friend “Breadbasket Bridget,” claims Puglia has the world's best bread. Growing Popularity: Puglia offers fewer crowds, different cuisine and wines, and unique places to stay. The refreshing sea breeze adds to its appeal. Kimberly and Tommaso plan to discuss their favorite experiences or meals in the next episode.

However, when you realize the number of initiatives they're involved in, it's actually not about improving the state of the world, but rather taking control of the world. The tentacles of this organization reach far and wide throughout all segments of society via numerous "centers" that include: The Center for AI Excellence, the Center for Cybersecurity, the Center for Energy and Materials, the Center for Financial and Monetary Systems, the Center for Frontier Technologies and Innovation, the Center for Health and Healthcare, the Center for Nature and Climate, the Center for Regions, Trade & Geopolitics, the Center for New Economy and Society, and finally the Center for Urban Transformation. This program covers other facets including Klaus Schwab, the Council on Foreign Relations, how the funding of non-governmental organizations (NGO's) is actually funding our own destruction, what's meant by "digital dictatorship," and much more. Don't miss this opportunity to become educated on this very powerful institution that's basically a private, strategic partnership between globalists and communists in concert with the United Nations, world governments and the World Bank International Monetary Fund.

Where Will Humanity Move When the World Gets Too Hot? Mass Climate Migration & The Rise of Uninhabitable Regions with Sunil Amrith

In the next 25 years, the International Organization for Migration estimates that one billion people will be displaced from their homes due to climate-related events. From island nations underwater to inland areas too hot and extreme to sustain life, the individuals and communities in these areas will need somewhere new to live. Where will these people go, and how will this mass migration add further pressure to the stability of nations and the world?  In this episode, Nate is joined by environmental and migration historian, Sunil Amrith, to explore the complex history of human movement – and what it reveals about the looming wave of climate-driven migration. Sunil explains how the historical record shows migration has always been a defining feature of human life, not an exception. Together, they examine projections for future migration trends and the urgent need for acceptance, planning, and infrastructure to support the integration of new communities. What lessons can we draw from past environmental crises that forced people to move, and how do today's challenges overlap or differ? How have countries historically responded to large-scale migration, and what long-term impacts did those choices have on their stability and prosperity? Ultimately, how might a more open and welcoming mindset help us face the unprecedented migrations ahead, as well as transform them into opportunities for survival, resilience, and shared thriving? (Conversation recorded on August 14th, 2025)     About Sunil Amrith: Sunil Amrith is the Renu and Anand Dhawan Professor of History at Yale University, with a secondary appointment as Professor at the Yale School of the Environment. He is the current Henry R. Luce Director of the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale. Sunil's research focuses on the movements of people and the ecological processes that have connected South and Southeast Asia, and has expanded to encompass global environmental history. He has published in the fields of environmental history, the history of migration, and the history of public health. Sunil's most recent book The Burning Earth, an environmental history of the modern world that foregrounds the experiences of the Global South, was named a 2024 “essential read” by The New Yorker, and a “book we love” 2024 by NPR. Additionally, Sunil's four previous books include Unruly Waters and Crossing the Bay of Bengal: The Furies of Nature and the Fortunes of Migrants.    Show Notes and More Watch this video episode on YouTube   Want to learn the broad overview of The Great Simplification in 30 minutes? Renegade's daily court coverage from the Milwaukee County Court House, the Governor of Wisconsin is begging Pres. Donald Trump to declare a state of emergency in the southeast corner of the state. Regions in the north part of Milwaukee were especially hard hit, unless, Gus T. is massively confused, large concentrations of black people are warehoused in this part of town. Many reports indicate that this once in a 1,000 years flood happened in a region where many people do not have flood insurance. In the nation's capitol, President Trump ordered federal troops into Washington, D.C. with specious claims of roving gangs of punks looting and pillaging "Chocolate City." Some fear President Trumps federal invasion will be coming to other US cities soon. Gus remembers one serious point that was raised during discussions of legalizing cannabis in "The District." Marijuana remains outlawed under federal law, and Washington, D.C. has a higher number of federal troops than most other cities. Now, they're even more armed federal agents in town. #EndStageWhiteSupremacy INVEST in The COWS - http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: http://cash.app/$TheCOWS Call: 720.716.7300 Code: 564943#
