Luke 15: 11-32
The parable of the prodigal son is really about three people: the younger brother, yes, but also the older brother and the father. The character of the brothers reveals how sin works in our lives; the character of the father reveals the extents to which the Lord will go to reconcile us to him and to each other. Is it possible to avoid Jesus in two different ways, one through flat out rejection, but the other being through obedience? Jesus tells a parable of two brothers who are both just as lost, one through moral license, and one through moral conformity. This Sunday we look at the two lost brothers and one loving father.

Reaching our neighbors with the true freedom found in full surrender to Christ.
Reaching our neighbors with the true freedom found in full surrender to Christ.
Zech Schiebout – Luke 15:11-32
This parable is one of the best known and most loved stories Jesus ever told. It explores the grace of God in vivid detail against the backdrop of the human tendency to run from God and resist His mercy.
Why are some people present with God and others are not? In this message, John Elmore walks through the well-known parable of the Prodigal Son. Through this story, we see God's heart for both the self-indulgent and the self-righteous.

In this final sermon in Tony's series on the Prodigal Son, he leads us to look at the father. He points out beautiful traits of the father and how it teaches us about our Father in heaven. But he doesn't stop there. He tells us that the call from this story that Jesus told is to be the father!
In this fifth sermon in Tony's short series on The Prodigal Son, we will look at the father of the two sons. We begin to see the great, deep love of God. It is a love that doesn't look like you might expect. Sometimes God's love for His kids is painful, yet healing.
Do you ever think about the effect your sin has on our Father in heaven? In Ephesians 4 Paul tells us to not “grieve the Holy Spirit.” And it seems this is what the two sons do to the father, in Jesus' story about the prodigal.
This is part 3 of Tony's series on the Parable of the Prodigal Son. In this sermon you will begin to see how capable you are of acting like these two sons.
In this well-known and beloved parable, Jesus describes two types of people: those who flee from God in a misguided quest for personal freedom and those whose attempts to obey God result in self-righteous resentment. Between them stands a father who loves them both with reckless abandon and who joyfully welcomes them home.
Tony continues in the story that is known as The Prodigal Son. This is part 2 and Tony begins in the Song of Solomon!
