Father's Day Sermon from church planting resident, Matt Koehler, on James 1:21-25.Living out your faith requires more than hearing God's Word. It demands an honest look in the mirror and a willingness to act on what you see. Four key actions shape faithful living: admitting what is true, submitting to God's authority, committing wholeheartedly to Jesus, and transmitting that truth to others. Your identity in Christ is not based on your performance but on the finished work of Jesus on the cross. That identity should shape how you lead your home, raise your children, serve your church, and conduct yourself at work. Satan actively attacks your sense of who you are in Christ, but the shield of faith stands against every one of those lies. The question is not whether you have heard the truth. The question is what you will do with it today.
Happy Father's day! I don't usually preach a “Father's Day Sermon” because if I told you to father like some of the dads in the Bible you'd probably get arrested. Why are there so many bad dads in the Bible, because there are so many bad dads. I'm glad my dad fails aren't in the Bible for everyone to read! But the Bible points us to the best dad ever, God is our Good Father, our Father in heaven who loves us perfectly. Every parent I know wants to love and parent their kids better, but we keep falling short. Today we get to hear from God's Word about our Heavenly Father. So what's the key to being a good father? The key is pointing our families to God the Father who loves and saves us.Recorded live at Word of Life Church in Le Sueur, Minnesota, on Sunday, June 21, 2026, with Pastor Jason Lang preaching.
Sermon by Bryce Kittinger on Sunday, June 21st at Chenal Valley Church.
Happy Father's Day! What makes a father? Is it biology, a title, or something deeper? In this Father's Day sermon, we explore the strength, sacrifice, and faithfulness of the people who helped raise us. In this special Father's Day message, we honor fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, mentors, coaches, teachers, and all those who have helped guide and shape the next generation. We also recognize the sacrifices of single parents who faithfully carried both roles, as well as the family members, friends, and role models who stepped in when they were needed most. Through the examples of Joseph, the father of Jesus, the Prodigal Son's father, and personal reflections on the lessons passed down from one generation to the next, we explore what it means to have "The Strength to Stay." This sermon is a reminder that some of life's greatest acts of love are found in showing up, staying faithful, and being present for the people God has entrusted to us. Whether you were raised by a father, a mother, a grandparent, a mentor, or someone who stepped into that role, this message is for you.

As we celebrate mothers, I wanted to look at a mother from the gospels who gets a bad rap from many readers and see if we could not redeem her reputation. Join us as we look at the mom of James and John and her encounter with Jesus that reveals her heart and passion for her boys and a lesson for all mothers. As people, but especially as mothers. We can feel the things we do go unseen by the world around us. Little things we do everyday to keep things together can be missed and this can be discouraging. But we serve a God who sees us and desires to meet with us in whatever stage we're in.
We celebrated Mother's Day with an impactful message titled "When Anger Blocks the Light." In this message Pastor Kyndal teaches us how to manage anger the right way. Anger can become a prison, it keeps you stuck, blinding you from the Creator who loves you. Because of Jesus, anger doesn't have to control us. We don't need to suppress it or pretend to have peace. We can bring every honest emotion to God. He heals our pain and transforms us. "Jesus never allowed emotion to separate Him from the Father." -Pastor Kyndal Green. Join us Sundays at 9AM or 11AM! Sanctity of Hannah - Mother's Day Sermon
Pastor Jim captures a sermon exploring the narrative of Genesis 19, focusing on the divine rescue and destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. He structured around three primary themes: the danger of a lingering leader, where Lot's hesitation and blurred moral lines diminished his influence over his family; the reality of God's unmerited grace, illustrated by the angels physically dragging a reluctant Lot to safety; and a solemn warning regarding the certainty of divine judgment for those who reject the gospel. Central to the message is the idea that salvation is an act of sovereign mercy rather than human merit, often granted in response to the faithful intercession of others. Ultimately, he urges the audience to respond to God with urgency and integrity, warning that those in positions of influence must live consistently with their faith so their witness is not dismissed as a jest.Support the showThanks for listening! 1 Kings 3:16-28 ESV Then two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him. The one woman said, “Oh, my lord, this woman and I live in the same house, and I gave birth to a child while she was in the house. Then on the third day after I gave birth, this woman also gave birth. And we were alone. There was no one else with us in the house; only we two were in the house. And this woman's son died in the night, because she lay on him. And she arose at midnight and took my son from beside me, while your servant slept, and laid him at her breast, and laid her dead son at my breast. When I rose in the morning to nurse my child, behold, he was dead. But when I looked at him closely in the morning, behold, he was not the child that I had borne.” But the other woman said, “No, the living child is mine, and the dead child is yours.” The first said, “No, the dead child is yours, and the living child is mine.” Thus they spoke before the king. Then the king said, “The one says, ‘This is my son that is alive, and your son is dead'; and the other says, ‘No; but your son is dead, and my son is the living one.'” And the king said, “Bring me a sword.” So a sword was brought before the king. And the king said, “Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one and half to the other.” Then the woman whose son was alive said to the king, because her heart yearned for her son, “Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and by no means put him to death.” But the other said, “He shall be neither mine nor yours; divide him.” Then the king answered and said, “Give the living child to the first woman, and by no means put him to death; she is his mother.” And all Israel heard of the judgment that the king had rendered, and they stood in awe of the king, because they perceived that the wisdom of God was in him to do justice.

But man fell into sin, and with man all creation was cursed. Therefore, God spoke His Word again, this time into the womb of the blessed Virgin Mary. The glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle of our human nature (Ex. 40:17–21, 34–38). “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:1–14). The Son of God took on our flesh and blood and died on the cross in order that we might receive the right to become the children of God through faith. Baptized into Christ's body, we are made partakers of a new Genesis, “the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:4–7). In Christ, the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man has truly appeared. Lectionary summary © 2021 The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Used by permission. http://lcms.org/worship

Color: White First Reading: Revelation 7:2–17 First Reading: Revelation 7:9–17 Psalm: Psalm 149; antiphon: v. 4 Epistle: 1 John 3:1–3 Gospel: Matthew 5:1–12 Introit: Psalm 31:1, 3, 5; antiphon: Revelation 7:14b Gradual: Revelation 7:14b; Psalm 84:5 Verse: Hebrews 12:1a, 2a Saints Are Blessed in the Eternal Presence of Christ “A great multitude from all tribes and peoples and languages,” cry out “salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne” (Rev. 7:9–17). Faith-filled saints from every place and time with unified voices eternally magnify the Lamb of God. As His beloved children, we too, “shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:1–3). Joined with the throng of angels and a myriad of saints, we shall “serve him day and night in his temple” (Rev. 7:9–17). In our earthly tension vacillating between saint and sinner, faith and doubt, sacred and profane, we earnestly seek Jesus to calm our fears, comfort our spirits, and forgive our sins. The Holy Spirit, through faith in Christ propels us forward, fortifying us in Word and Sacrament, to our eternal home. In the midst of our constant struggle as believers, we need to be blessed. And so we are. The poor in spirit, the meek, the hungry, the thirsty, the merciful, the pure, and the persecuted are all blessed and we will most certainly inherit the kingdom of heaven (Matt. 5:1–12).
