Ali is currently the Director of Partnerships at Unsplash and former co-founder of Vanhawks, a Y Combinator-backed startup that made the world's first smart carbon fibre bike. Founded in 2014, the company ran a highly-successful Kickstarter campaign raising $820,000 for its Valour smart bike, a smart bike featuring bluetooth to connect to a user's smartphone for directions and LED indicators and raised $1.6 million from Real Ventures the following year. The Vanhawks Valour network had riders in as many as 42 countries, with nearly 1,000 bikes sold and was acquired by Warren Industries.
