What if your workout felt like a quest instead of a chore? We sit down with creator and coach Tank Tolman to explore how fantasy, play, and small consistent steps can transform the way we approach health. From a childhood stacked with sports to a focused MMA chapter and a later ADHD diagnosis, Tank breaks down why brains like novelty, why light and playful sparring beats bravado, and how cosplay and storytelling can lower the barrier to entry for beginners who've never felt welcome in fitness spaces. We dig into the core idea of a “hard why”—the deeply personal reason that outlasts motivation and outshines scale-only goals. Tank shares how he helps first‑timers start at home with simple bodyweight moves and low-equipment circuits, then layers in gamification: daily quests, streaks, and narrative framing that turns movement into something you want to return to. Along the way, we talk Dragon Ball gravity training, weighted vests, and why going from 30% to 70% healthy is often just a handful of easy swaps and short walks—no extreme protocols required. The summit can wait; most of the view shows up halfway up the mountain. There's more: community over isolation, joy over perfection, and the power of embracing “cringe” as visible happiness. Tank's world blends bladesmiths, prop makers, and makers who need a boost, showing how creativity and kindness can lift an entire ecosystem. If you've ever felt shut out by toxic gym culture or burned by all‑or‑nothing plans, this conversation offers a friendlier map: start small, make it fun, and keep showing up. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs an easier on‑ramp, and leave a review with your “hard why”—we'll read our favorites on the show. Power of X-Men: The Greatest Comic Book Podcast in All of the Multiverse!
Age of Revelation HATH BEGUN! Let's break down what we know so far. Covering Heir of Apocalypse; Age of Revelation issue 0; X-Men issue 22; and Age of Revelation Overture!
It's always fun bonding with people over shared interests. For Olivia and I, it was Star Wars and The Bad Batch series. It was a pleasure getting to have Olivia join me on the podcast to talk about this, and so much more! We start things off by by getting into Marvel and The X-Men fandom. Olivia talks about some of her favorite movies/shows that exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and what keeps her coming back for more. We talk about some of her favorites (one of her favorite movies may surprise you!) and then we talk about The X-Men. From X-Men 93 and 97, to comics, and what she's hoping for in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when it comes to the X-Men, including one mutant that made my jaw drop. Then we find ourselves in the galaxy far, far away to talk Star Wars. Olivia talks about her first experiences with the fandom, from the movies to TV shows, and characters. Olivia talks about her love of shows like Rebels, how she's catching up on shows she missed, and what we're expecting from the future movies/shows that have been announced. Musical Theater is next. Olivia talks about how and when she started on the stage, and what drives her to entertain. We talk about some of her experiences and roles, including being Flounder on a Disney cruise ship. Now that she's back on land, we talk about what she's working towards now and her future on stage and screen. We then wrap up by talking about Cosplay. Olivia talks about getting into cosplay, the characters that she cosplays as, and some of the future plans for her as an individual along with potential future group shoots. We also talk briefly about her podcast, Damsels Distressing, which should be returning soon! On this episode of Cosplay and Cocktails, join Jessi and Paige as they journey home from another great long weekend at their favorite convention, DragonCon.
We are diving into the depths of r/LegbeardStories. While they are essentially female neckbeards there are some slight differences... There is a lot more mental manipulation and catty drama involved in most of these stories as opposed to the unaware grossness of the male neckbeards. We'll give it a try and see how it goes. If you like what is offered here then let me know so we can revisit it! It doesn't matter what your background is, you always need to treat people like people and not use them simply to get off. Legbeards seem to learn this lesson particularly slow and it really does make my blood boil... So we must bring it to light so others don't suffer alone. For your fill of legbeards stories we've got you covered with the freshest weeaboo, niceguy, and neckbeard happenings on reddit. Send us a textRemember when cell phones weren't just rectangular slabs of glass? When having the right phone clipped to your hip made you the coolest person in the room? This week, we're diving deep into tech nostalgia while also exploring Apple's latest offering.Lexi shares her honest review of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, highlighting the silver colorway (not her first choice), improved telephoto lens, larger battery, and vapor chamber for better heat management. The most impressive feature? Live translation that actually works in multiple languages. But as we discuss these incremental improvements, we can't help wondering: is Apple truly innovating anymore, or just making minor tweaks to the same design? This leads us down memory lane to the golden era of mobile devices. From the iconic T-Mobile Sidekick with its satisfying flip mechanism to Blackberry Curves, Motorola Razors in rainbow colors, and Nokia's gaming-focused N-Gage. We reminisce about a time when phones had personality and carriers like Nextel, Alltel, and Cingular created unique experiences that have vanished in today's consolidated market. We also explore Tesla's autopilot functionality and the concerning ways some drivers bypass safety features, custom truck modifications, and our milestone of reaching 300 followers on TikTok. Power of X-Men: The Greatest Comic Book Podcast in All of the Multiverse!
On today's episode we discuss New X-Men #125 PLUS the legendary Uncanny X-Men 152 where Storm/Emma swap bodies!
We have another international guest joining us, as Anshie Shinohara joins me from Germany! After stumbling across her Aerith cosplays on Instagram, I'm happy to welcome her to the podcast. Anshie and I start off with the only topic we could start with, Final Fantasy 7. Anshie talks about how she first got into the video game, back in the original Playstation days. We talk about what kept her coming back to that franchise, her experiences beyond 7, and then returning to the game with Remake and Rebirth. We cover who her favorite characters are, her thoughts on the remake storyline, and what she hopes for how the story ends this time. From there, we go into a topic Aerith would be proud to talk about - Gardening. Anshie discusses how she first got into gardening and her history with it, some of her favorite plants, and her current gardening situation. We talk about a plant she'd love to have, and her advice for those who may be interested in gardening. We wrap up with Cosplay. Anshie has been cosplaying for over 20 years, and she talks about how she first got started with cosplay. This includes a great story about dying her hair pink for a character, some of the characters she's cosplayed over the years, and her love of representing Aerith from Final Fantasy 7. We talk about a few designs she'd love to do in the future, and some behind the scenes talk about some of the photographs on her page. We go to Germany for this episode, as Yuliya aka Yuliya.Crafts joins me to talk about her past, present, and future with fandom. Raised in the Ukraine in the post-Soviet era, we refelect on Yuliya's first interactions with fandom. Mostly exposed to work from Japan, she didn't get into some of her current fandoms until the age of 20. We talk about the movies and shows she watched then, and what her fandom experiences were like. We talk about fandoms that she's presently into, like Star Wars, Doctor Who, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and DC movies. We talk about her continued love of Star Wars, one of her first fandoms, and how the stories they've told in that fandom reflect in real life experiences with the current political climates, the war in Ukraine, and much more. Yuliya talks about Marvel's Fantastic Four movie, and DC's Superman movie, and we reflect on what could come from both movie universes. We wrap up by talking about Cosplay. Yuliya talks about Cosplay, including how she started. Yuliya talks about some of the characters she cosplays, how she determines who to represent, and some of the characters that she wants to portray in the future. This week on Stitch Please, Lisa sits down with cosplay powerhouse Daemeryss aka the genius who can turn a pile of fabric into jaw dropping, Con -crushing magic. From her early sewing inspo to creating her own fabric (yes, custom Beyoncé inspired textiles, because why not?), Daemeryss spills all the tea on what it really takes to bring a cosplay vision to life. They get into build books (your cosplay diary/survival guide), the tricky ethics of copying, and why the creative community thrives when we actually share knowledge instead of gatekeeping it.It's equal parts inspiration, education, and cosplay chaos so whether you're threading your first needle or hand stitching a ten foot cape, this episode will remind you to embrace the mess, trust the process, and find your own fabulous voice in the craft.====Where You Can Find Daemeryss!InstagramFacebookX===========Dr. Lisa Woolfork is an associate professor of English specializing in African American literature and culture. Her teaching and research explore Black women writers, Black identity, trauma theory, and American slavery. She is the founder of Black Women Stitch, the sewing group where Black lives matter. She is also the host/producer of Stitch Please, a weekly audio podcast that centers on Black women, girls, and femmes in sewing. In the summer of 2017, she actively resisted the white supremacist marches in her community, Charlottesville, Virginia. The city became a symbol of lethal resurging white supremacist violence. She remains active in a variety of university and community initiatives, including the Community Engaged Scholars program. She believes in the power of creative liberation.Instagram: Lisa WoolforkTwitter: Lisa Woolfork======Stay Connected:YouTube: Black Women StitchInstagram: Black Women StitchFacebook: Stitch Please Podcast--Sign up for the Black Women Stitch quarterly newsletterCheck out our merch hereLeave a BACKSTITCH message and tell us about your favorite episode.Join the Black Women Stitch PatreonCheck out our Amazon Store
