Opening our new series of movie episodes based around films heavily inspired by the Looney Tunes, Marc and Jordan look at an incredibly zany movie they both grew up with that could not exist without the works of Tex Avery, 1994's The Mask. Together with colleague Brandon Hardy from Varicon Video, they discuss their background with the film, the influence of Jim Carrey on the preexisting script, the Avery and gangster movie influence, and that absolutely bonkers neo-swing soundtrack.

This week I'm joined by Brandon Hardy from the Varicon Video podcast to chat about The Man From Hong Kong. Directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith in 1975, this film is one of the classics of the Ozploitation genre.A lot of the background information regarding the production of this movie was sourced from Brian Trenchard-Smith's recent book, 'Adventures in the B Movie Trade'. This book is a great retrospective on his film career and recommended reading if you're in any way interested in filmmaking. The movie itself can be found on many streaming platforms. I've included the link to Prime below, however, I absolutely recommend picking up the feature-packed Blu-ray from Umbrella Entertainment.
